The calsorb is a great thing to have on hand, you give the mother this when it seems she is having difficulty with labor and it often helps me. But it will make them nauseated so be sure to watch her for throwing up. And only give it to her during a whelp when she is having difficulty. A Mucous Trap is another way of suction out mucus from a puppy that has just been born. You can also use an aspirator for the same purpose although a mucus trap since it is smaller can reach down the throat further. Most breeders just use a simple aspirator. Nutristat is a must in my opinion. You give it to mom during and/or after delivery to help keep her energy levels up. You can also give this to older pups to make sure their sugar blood level drops. It is not something you give them on a regular basis but very hand and important to have on hand. I always send a tube of Nutristat or Nutrical home with new owners with a puppy since they are going to be in a new environment which could stress them out causing their blood sugar to drop. Lactated ringers you would use for a dehydrated mom or pup. However you really should have your vet show you how to give SQ fluids under the skin before doing it yourself. This could be a life safer as it quickly administer fluids and electrolytes to the dog/puppy. Nutridrops is like Nutristat and Nutrical except it works faster and gets into their system a lot faster. Again you could give this to the mom during and/or after delivery. You may also give this to the pups born to boost the energy level. BeneBac gel is a good bacteria that you can give to mom, pups or really any dog that is going through a stressful time or situation or is on the mend. I have also heard it has helped save a fading puppy before. Pedialyte would be given to the mom after whelp, it will keep her hydrated and will give her needed electrolytes. If mom is having diarrhea or lose stool this is great to give her as keeping hydrated is very important. Hope this helps!!

YT 1000 Club Member | Hi I am going to take a stab at the things I do know and What I would think they are used for. -Nutir Drops -BeneBac Gel - this is used to help the pups with the puppy formula. -Pedialyte - to keep the Mom from getting dehydrated during whelping -Calsorb - sometimes the Mom needs this, not sure as I haven't used it -Delee Mucous Trap -Nutristat - another thing that is used to keep the moms energy up during whelping and also to help stubborn pups latch on to the nipple or to keep them from crashing -Lactated Ringers My necessary whelping items consist of clean towels, puppy formula, a syringe and tube, a bottle for feeding, a nasal bulb, a couple pairs of hemostats, latex gloves, a jar of vaseline, thermometer, pedialyte and a bottle of honey.

| Calsorb is fast acting calcium supplement. It's good to have on hand for eclampsia post whelping and during whelping if she's had a pup and contractions have gotten weak. Delee Mucous Trap- I love mine, has saved a couple of puppies. You use this to clear the fluids in the lungs. You'd be amazed at the fluid that comes out. Lactated Ringers: Use with a syringe, needle. These are to prevent or treat dehydration if puppy isn't eating. Benebac replaces the good bacteria in puppies tummys. Nutristat (or Nutrical): high calorie supplement. Great to have on hand for hypoglycemic episodes, brings their sugar back up. Nutridrop-supplement for newborns. Pedialyte-for dehydration. Can be given to mom and/or puppies. Can also be fed by tube to puppies. KY jelly for taking temps, also use with gloves on to help mom if a puppy is stuck. Alcohol- sterililzation of instruments |

| My Zoe is due in a few weeks and there are moments when I feel like I haven't studied enough. I guess I'm just anxious and nervous all bundled up in one!

| i know, i just can't seem to cram my brain with enough information ha ha. because something new happens with them two and i've never encountered it before, and it's like is that normal? ha ha but i guess that's how even the greatest of dog breeders started out as well
