Winter coat just for girls???? 2 Attachment(s) Production on these 2 fabrics will start soon but I need your help deciding if I should just strictly do coats for girls  . . . Boys normally want casual wear and so i'd hate to make a coat unisex if there is not much boys wanting to wear it anyway . . .this way I can make the coat look soooo much cuter with extra feminine touches for our female DIVA's . . . The coat will definitely have a faux fur accent and satin lining  but the design will all depend on the feedback I get . . . |
I think if you do coats just for girls you'll be able to make them cuter and more girlier, therefore selling more, etc. just my opinion. i love the black and white too i know little maddie will be needing one...lol love the material. like you said boys usually wear something more casual. |

Umm...It's hard for me to picture things when all I have is the fabric unfortunately :( :thumbdown But I would guess you should make them just for girls, and that would be great with faux fur, etc, etc, etc. Then I have a question....can I take off one of the furry coats I ordered today and wait for this one for Ms. Kiwi? If not, she can DEFINITELY have two :D |
OMG, I love this idea Des! I think offering them just for girls is great :D Stedman pretty much only wears the sporty type Hoodies when it's cold - not really any "coats" ;) However, for the girls, I think the coats are fabulous! And I LOVE the Black & White Houndstooth print - that is soooo adorable! I can already picture it in my head with a fur trim - OMG, I am going to be totally in love with this, I just know it! :D |
ohhh...and wanted to add, houndstooth is some of my FAVORITE fabric ever! And you know, it looks REALLY REALLY great with HOT PINK (okay, maybe I'm weird, but that's just what I think ) I guess it's sorta like zebra print w/ hot pink...I think it's wayyyyy cute! |
Des - love the Black & White Houndstooth print and I would gear the coats towards our girlie girls for sure...knowing you - you will make them so cute and unique. Hmmm..too bad you couldn't make the fur trim interchangable - where we could buy different fur colors to match our moods..hahaha....since there is a lot to go with this B&W fabric. Just a thought.;) Like you could have white fur trim, pink fur trim, purple, yellow, etc., etc. </IMG> |
I think the black and white as well as the red and black would also make nice coats for the males. I just wouldn't put a lot of fufu stuff on it. Just make a basic coat. The guys get cold too, and would look sharp in a coat. There's always people looking for boy clothes, and I think they would sell well. |

i would buy a girly one for austin :D lol |
I like the Black for the Boys and Red for the Girls ! buuuuut you know what my fav. is and love to see ? A Coat with Waterproof outer shell and a fleece inside, for some of us that have be out in our wet rainy Washington Weather ! :D |
I think you should offer an option without the fur! I'd possibly buy the white hounds tooth for Britney if it was offered without fur. The fur is a little over the type for me.. I think it looks much simpler. |
 I love the black and white for girls. The more girly the better but thats just my taste. I would favor it trimmed in baby pink, a bright pink trim or even red. I really wouldn't need a coat for the furbabies here in Florida but I'm sure once Des shows the finished product, it will be so cute, I'll have to get one.:D |
I love the black/white houndstooth and it would look great accented with hot pink (as stated above) and even red. Mojo needs a peacoat style jacket...but if you are pulling more for girls, that is fine too! |
I love these for my girls, but not for my little men...LOL:D :p :) so I agree with these fabrics stick with girlie DIVA:cool: |
I like the black and white fabric but if it was lined with pink satin that would be great. No pink on the outside just a big black collar because then it would match with any pink color shirt she has on under it. If there is pink showing it would be too hard to match. |
I love the idea with the fur and being dressy and girly! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the design of this coat http://www.glamourdog.com/genevievecoat.html It's so pretty and girly and has the fur...definitely looks like a dress coat. I like the black and white houndstooth with white fur. Some type of pink fabric would be pretty too...but I have a black/white coat that would look great with a matching coat for Lacy! Maybe by the time you come out with the design it will actually be cold here and I'll feel like ordering winter attire! |
When I saw the black hounds tooth fabric it reminded me of a trench coat my mom had with a wide belt and a big black square plastic buckle. She would add different colored silk flower pins to the coat to match her outfits... Thanks for bringing back a forgotten memory! I was just shopping for coats tonight - can't wait to see what your creation is going to be! - I'm already in line to buy 3! |
Both fabrics are pretty. I say make them for the girls only. Let the boys have the more sporty winterwear. I really have never liked houndstooth because of a coat I had as a child. I do however see the black and white houndstooth as a beautiful coat. I agree with the person who said hot pink in the lining and black faux fur on the outside. That would be so feminine. The black and red could be an option but I do not care for it. I prefer the black and white. Can't wait to see a feminine little coat made from that houndstooth. |

Definitely will have the hot pink or pink satin lining to give it a more elegant look and at the same time great for our baby's coats  Hope you and your girls are doing okay . . . . those santa ana fires are scary  |
Any hopes in making a waterproof windbreaker type with flanel lining someday ?????? hope, hope ?????:D |
LOL, Des your head must be spinning with all the different ways of putting this coat together. Love the patterns. I think the black and white would be good for the boys with a black velveteen collar. Very classic, no fu fu for the boys. |

well I am coming out with a gofetch raincoat (with a hood that you can be tightened) with flannel lining for added warmth . . I am hoping to have it by late next week or early the folloiwng week :) I had posted a picture on another thread so you might have missed it :) anyway, here it is again half done  (no lining yet) :) The zipper feature will be so easy to put on and off especially when they need to go right away :) As for windbreakers, that sure is something to think about for next year . . |
