I agree. I felt some of the comments/complaints seemed a bit harsh. Splash & Shine is the only product I use on Toby. I've tried a few other samples but always go back to Splash & Shine. I am constantly sniffing Toby's neck. LOL

Linda, during Sarah & my 1st GE, I sent her a YorkieLove sack that I'd made. Once I saw that Yorkie Haven was using the pattern, I decided not to make more until you deplete your stock of the material.

I agree with you and ladyjane. I'm sorry the product did not work for the OP or the others, but they could have been a tad bit more objective. To those that think it's too thin, try the pump. It makes a big difference on how much you can get the shampoo to foam up.

I hope that Walnut Hill did not take it that way at all. I certainly did not attack anyone! Although I was honest about my experience with the shampoo in one post, our last back and forth were all about "water content." It took a while for us both to understand each others meaning on that and I even made a joke about how I had now diluted the conversation (meaning too much! Wish now I never tried to explain.) I NEVER questioned the quality of her product. I even complimented her about the hard work, research and putting her heart into a product that works for her and benefits others. I did ask about the high Ph out of genuine curiosity as it is almost being listed as a benefit. I wondered why that would be -- still wonder but I won't ask again! I also made sure to say there was a review site for human shampoo where people had listed contradictory reviews on many shampoos too. I was trying to temper any dis-satisfaction I had with the product by repeating that one product never works for everyone. Maybe I went on more than I would usually to show that I had interest in the product and it was not all negative.

I mentioned I had been hesitant to give an honest review on the product and this is why. No one would question if it was a big label company, but because it is a YT member, now my complaints seem "rough?" I find this a little funny as you say Minksheen is "nasty and harsh." My complaint about Yorkie Splash and Shine was only that it did not lather well and did not leave my dogs with soft, shiny hair. I did not give any negative adjectives at all. So, which review is "rough?"

I use Minksheen and am not all that crazy about its smell either. But I do love what it does with their hair and not having to use Frontline has been a huge blessing. I get it from a YT member too. I tried to make sure I balanced my negative with some positives on several counts.

BTW -- I really enjoyed both of my recent orders too. The blanket matched Annie's bed perfectly and I love the jewelry and coin purse.

I don't think you were mean, but the op to me seemed really harsh and not objective at all. You were trying to understand, and that is how I took your particular post.

Everyone here raves about Biolage hair products, and they have never done a thing for me! I also think the shampoo smells bad.

I just ordered some more Splash and Shine, and a suds pump. Don't really need more product right now, but I will eventually, and so I try to save on shipping when I can!

I have never tried Mink Sheen, but now I am curious to try it. Tigi human and pet products are some of my favorites, as well as Petsilk Products...I think Petsilk is a great value for the price!

I think the tone of the Op's post was harsh as well. I noticed they are a newbie, I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. I just know vendor's on YT have a lot of pride in the products they offer, and I am sure the criticism (delivered in this manner) had to sting. I know it would have bothered me, especially if I wasn't forewarned, I don't think Walnut Hill was given that courtesy.

Let me clarify: I might say something about a product that I don't like such as the comments I made about the scent of Minksheen. That is a far cry from giving it a THUMBS DOWN review. Doing that in capital letters would indicate to me that something really BAD had happened such as the product burned my pups and their hair fell out.

I do think that it kind of went on and on and I did feel it was a bit rough. Just my take...and everyone reads things in a different fashion. I personally, after reading what the OP put in the subject line, would have walked away rather than join in the complaints. And....if I had questions about the water content, I think I would have taken it to PM....the thread was titled in a way that, after that, anything would sound harsh. That is just my personal opinion.

We ordered yorkie splash and shine just right after the last GE and we use a suds pump with ours it is a watery base shampoo but we love it i have both the cotton coat and a silkly coat and it does a wonderful job on both and being that i own Muddy Paws Dog Grooming i have used it several times at work as well with wonderful out come. We love the smell of it the second day better then the first though but the smell will last up to a week on my babies and they are the worlds worst at going out and rolling in dead stinky stuff and this shampoo has been wonderful we also use the yorkie splash spray as well and our babies are shinny and look wonderful. My only suggestion would be to make sure to get it all washed out very good and same with the conditioner.

Sherry, that was very nice of you, but honestly you don't have to do that! We will have that fabric for some time! :) Plus....the more the merrier. ... you are talking about a different product.

Honestly, when someone told me about the thread and I looked at the title, I thought, "What?" - I would probably only be so harsh if something bad had happened, like my dog's hair fell out. I couldn't imagine what would have happened to make someone SO upset about my shampoo. But, after initially being taken aback, I had to realize that everyone has different ways of looking at things. And, maybe the OP was thoroughly shocked at the waxy feeling after using the shampoo for the first time. That's why I warn people - the first time can be a little crazy. :) Nestled in the "harsh" comments were some things that I can turn into constructive criticism. I just think that as long as we keep our wits about us and not get all worked up about stuff, we can have rational conversations on YT. I have been involved in so many flaming arguments here that I'm starting to get immune to it, LOL.

And, thanks to everyone who posted that they do like it, too. The confidence I was starting to lose is back. :)

I guess I read more of what the actual complaints were instead of worrying over the thumbs down title. I actually did not have questions about the water content. That all started as an explanation to someone else that it was watery as part of the way it was made, not made and then watered down. Then the subject of water got carried on ad infintum as we BOTH tried to explain ourselves. Why would I have PM'd that -- it was not a complaint? I did not see the "rough" comments or any attack. Still do not.

This is the YT Seller Feedback and Seller Review Forum. I think people should feel free to comment truthfully. No one made any insulting or disparaging comments. Everything was specific to what they did or did not like about the product. I think every negative comment was made in an objective way, saying only what they did not care for and refraining from any disrespectful comments. Each person listed specifically why they were not pleased with the product. Nothing vague, no negative adjectives --only very specific reasons that could be considered by the vendor. (i.e. Does not lather well, does not leave hair soft or shiny, too watery, need to use too much.....these are very objective.) I think WalnutHill can take these comments as valid complaints that may or may not be considered in future products or variations. She may have so many orders that she really doesn't worry about it or she may some day have a different formula for people who find it too watery -- evidently she has considered and developed it already, so that complaint evidently is not a surprise to her. I think it was all done respectfully. I know I have the utmost respect for Walnut Hill and her endeavor!

We might as well close this folder, if negative comments can never be made about a YT vendors products without fear of controversy. I certainly lavish the praise on when I am happy with products. I think this is the first YT vendor product I have commented negatively about ever. I wonder how many are holding back their comments now, so as not to get a finger pointed at them. I think sometimes the YT vendors are also our friends, and some want to jump in and defend them instead of letting a valid review stand. I can understand that in a way, but it isn't doing any good for a balanced review system. Can't say this folder will hold much credibility for me anymore.

I appreciate any and all comments. There in no way to improve if people who don't like a product never say anything. The only thing I have really changed since day 1 is the scent. And, the watery consistency has been the biggest complaint I have had (hence the foamer bottles). So, please don't feel like holding back. I wish you would have been more specific when you tried it out over a year ago, LOL :) I am like you, though. If I don't like something I just don't post about it, and if I do like something, I rave about it.

And, believe me, I don't have so many orders I don't care. I have taken a lot of suggestions - developed the conditioner because that was a complaint at first - only shampoo. Then the detangler because someone suggested that. Then the foamer bottles, then bigger bottles, then introducing a fragrance free. Everything I have done has been based on YT complaints and suggestions. :)

Actually, I was specific May of 2009 when I tested it. I gave all the same comments in PM to you at that time, I still have it. You told me to put a whole line of shampoo from head to tail and keep adding more until it "suds up." You said "hey it was free, just keep adding more." That may have been my problem, not using enough of the product. You might remember my PMs to you as I complimented you on developing a shampoo on your own when the big companies had whole research departments working on their formulas. No worries though, you have plenty of happy customers.

Yes, it is the YT Seller Review and Feedback forum and people will post what they feel. So why is it wrong for others to post how THEY feel? Now, I am beginning to take this personal! :) I felt that it got to be a bit harsh....but I was crystal clear in saying that that was how *I* read it. That does NOT mean that is how anyone meant for it to be taken.

Sarah is not a friend of mine. I don't even know her nor have I used her products. I have seen her here but have never had any type of real conversation with her. I simply posted MY feelings about the thread. I did NOT say that no one should ever give a negative review. It's all how you read things I suppose. I used to give reviews to employees and if I had given them huge capital letters of THUMBS DOWN just because of one aspect of their job performance, how would that have helped them? It wouldn't!
I am done now. Clearly this has been taken to a new place where it should not have been.

The OP said he thought it had an "Old Lady" smell and he had a boy dog. I said I was not particularly excited about the smell. I don't think either of those was shocking, awful, or horrific??? In my PM to you I mentioned that those that did not like a lot of scent might like that about your shampoo. So, it was not that I had anything agains tthe smell, just did not get much of it. I notice on your website, you say you mix it one gallon at a time and the scent and color may vary. Maybe I got one with less scent?

See -- it seems like some very straightforward comments somehow are being misconstrued and made out to be something they are not. I just don't see anything that matches the adjectives you just used. I definately do not think there is anything horrific about your product. This is just getting out of proportion.

I think I've tried just about every shampoo / conditioner out there...I keep going back to John Paul Pet (Oatmeal) (didn't like JPP's moisturizing however). For the price it's so economical and it really cleans. (Note: I do not like Paul Mitchell products for humans, other than their Super Skinny, which I also use on the dogs which helps keeps tangles from coming back, plus adds a nice shine (use sparingly) --- my 2 cents which may be all that's worth lol

The tone of this thread has been less than constructive as I read it. I see nothing wrong with a thumbs down review as not all products will meet the needs of all customers. It's unfair, however, when the posts suggest that the company waters down the product to charge more and deliver less. And, when Walnut Hill responded that she did not water down the product and in fact her product did not contain water, she was challenged about her product's water composition and later its PH. These are not constructive remarks, they are remarks intended to disparage the product and/or its maker and that is what I give a big :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown

If one does not care for the smell or feel or consistency of the product, don't use it. I certainly do not see anyone forcing the purchase or use of the product. Yorkie Splash is a nice product that many of us enjoy and I have found Walnut Hill to be a reputable company with good customer service and I give it a :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I use the supper skinny serum in my own hair (when I do my own hair-LOL). I normally go 2x per week to my best friend/stylist and she washes and does my hair...she uses aquage brand products, and they are wonderful. Never thought about using super skinny on the dogs, will have to try.

Actually, we were discussing the idea of the water content and as it turned out, of course it has water content, it is not watered down. If you go back to the beginning of the thread you will see I told the OP that water was not added to it but was a part of the original composition! So, obviously, it was not a challenge or meant to disparage. As to the Ph, I most certainly did not challenge her about its Ph. Asking a question is not a challenge. She said that it has a Ph of 9, and I asked why that was not a detriment as she has mentioned it more as a benefit. I thought that was a valid question and very much in line with a product REVIEW. Everything I read says a high Ph can be damaging to our dog's hair. I even gave her some references to that effect. That question was not answered but she did say that she wanted the Ph over a 7. I thought it a good question,to wonder why. This is not disparaging the product or its maker! I don't know how much more complimentary I can be about Sarah! When a review thread is started, and the vendor comes to the thread to answer the complaints, then I think it should be very well accepted, that questions can be asked about the product. It is not being rough, it is not being disparaging, it is just asking questions. I figured if she is intentionally wanting the Ph to be over 7, she has a good reason for it. I imagine she does! I just don't know what it is because the question got lost amongst all of the other comments.

Does anyone understand what a review is? It can include your experiences. It can also include information about content. Again, I don't believe for a minute anyone would have a problem with crititques or questions if the maker of this shampoo was one of the large corporations. From the very beginning of this thread, statements were being exaggerated and misrepresented. When in fact, the complaints were being stated in mild and respectful terms.

John Paul makes an excellent detangling spray for everyday use too. I use it when brushing my yorkies. It has a nice fresh smell, nothing flowery.

Kudos to you, ladyjane and to you Catherine for making an awesome product, IMO.

And because of this horrible review thread, I'm now going to purchase the Foamer Bottle because I had no idea it existed!

I love this stuff. Cooper has always had a completely unmanageable cotton coat. The shampoo and conditioner are like little miracles. I haven't even given him a haircut because I now love the way he looks! His skin is also very sensitive and this doesn't bother him at all.

I am going to order the foamer bottle too. I've had a bottle that I purchased almost a year ago before the bottle adapter was available. I felt that I was using too much to compensate for lack of bubbles so I just pushed it to the back of my shampoo cabinet. After I get it and give it a try I'll report back. :)

I'm wondering what old lady smells like :confused: According to my 15 yrs who likes to remind me on a regular basis that I'm old. But she must think I smell pretty good since she looks for my perfume every time she goes out ;)

I've not used this product, but may give it a try in the future since I've been known to try various products. However, since it is new and developed by a YT member (by the way I love enteprenauers), I have one question before I make the plunge. Was the product developed in a lab with input from a chemist?

:cool:This has already been addressed, but since I made the comment I feel obliged to respond. ;) A few years back I got involved with a new MLM company that made natural products (soy candles, natural lip balm, natural bath products,etc). The issue of the watery consistency was brought up in one of our "team phone calls". Since I don't know all the technical lingo I stated what I was told in layman's terms. :p Since no "junk" was added to the product to beef up the consistency, it was more watery than what I was used to. Since I'm no expert in this area & haven't fully researched it I was simply stating what I had been told. Peronally, the consistency does not bother me so I felt no need to research it to discover if what I had been told was indeed fact.

However, I feel that the explanation from WalnutHill does indeed support what I was told years ago. Not that it really matters to me now. ;) I do want to say that I appreciate the information that has been shared in this thread...it's been interesting to read. :thumbup: And I am considering ordering a foamer bottle with my next order as well.

I decided that I couldn't wait for the foamer bottle and gave my 3 bathes tonight. I'm not sure why but I have to say that with time and sitting on my shelf the frangrance is much stronger and I like it. Not old lady smelling at all. Just clean.

They did have that dry waxy feeling when they first came out of the sink (yes my kitchen sink) but after they dried and I brushed and combed them they are now super soft.

So although I was not originally impress I have to say that this thread changed my opinion. I am wondering if it might be that the scent became stronger over time?
