Tail Waggers Toy Basket Cover

I'm wanting to add these toy basket covers to my site and wanted some feed back.

The covers fit a "Home Trends" Laundry Basket from Wal-Mart. Basket is under $5.00 and it measures apx 22x17 and 8" in depth.

I'm wanting to get a idea about how much to ask? I have about 45min of work involved and about 1 yard of fabric. Fabric price is anywhere from $4-$8 a yard.

Feed back is appreciated :)

I don't know anything about this but I'd say maybe $10 or $12? considering the prices for fabric varies.. you have to look for it.. and actually take to time to fit them...

is it possible you can offer the basket with it right away? then I'd say probably 17 or so

I was thinking $10 for my time and the cost of fabric.

I was trying to keep shipping down, if I shipped that big basket it would be about $15 to ship it.

i would say 15 for the cover plus shipping
or 35 for basket and cover (it is according to how much you have to pay for the baskets)
if 15 to ship with basket i would say at least 40-45

im a seamstress by the way....and i still have a hard time pricing my work time..good luck....it looks very cute

I think all seamstress can understand the work that is involved and the little money that you do make.

No means will you ever get rich off sewing LOL

In all honesty.. when your paying those prices for material.. selling them for 10.00 would be hardly worth your while.. if you were lucky and got the material on sale.. then maybe some specials at that price..
No one works for nothing.. and I know we all like a good deal.. just my .02 cents

Soon as I put the cover on it, Lillie jumped in and claimed it!

You could use it as a bed, put a small pillow in the bottom.

This is such a great idea! You could sell the cover itself for $10 or so....if you got the basket you would have to charge a lot to ship it and that's where you would probably turn people off. IMO.

That's why I got the basket from walmart, everyone has a walmart!!!! LOL
And it was not expensive at all!

It could be a toy basket or a cute bed! Put a pillow under the cover and you have yourself a nice bed and it would be washable!

Being washable and easy to remove is a FANTASTIC idea. Would the fabric cover the entire basket? If I have this sitting in my living room would people be able to see that it's a clothes basket or would the fabric cover it all?

It does not look like a clothes basket. It's wicker. The cover goes over the top and has elastic all around the top. You can see the wicker, but it just looks like a basket.

As I commented before, $10-12, I'm going to change that. I just ran some numbers, and for it to be worth your while, I would say more like $15-18.

Yeah, you really just have to run your numbers and decide how much 45min is worth to you. But I would say anything under $15 isn't really worth your time. And believe me, I've been there. It sounds too high to charge, but not enough to make.

I would charge 15.00 and make a discount special for 2. Can you post a picture of the basket ? Also give fabric choices .

you mean the basket without the cover on it so people can see what it looks like?

This is a really cute idea! :)

I really think you need to charge $15 plus shipping. I kept wanting to see a side view photo by the way. Does it have a ruffle or anything?

You'll get burned out doing it if you don't charge enough. Did you consider paypal fees into it? The cost of maintaining your website? Packaging? Gas? Time searching for fabric?

Very very cute idea! :thumbup::D

PS...I haven't seen that basket either, so I would like to have a visual to shop for.

Ok, I took some more pics. I was also thinking, if I'm making this for a lil girl, I could trim it with a ruffle.

Also, this is kinda a different idea, but I'm going to be going to a baby shower and I thought about making one for a baby and then filling it with baby supplies for the shower gift.

I think this is a FABULOUS IDEA!! And I really like the fact that you could make them gender specific (bow , ruffle , ribbon , etc.) I would probably get two. One for toys and one for a bed (or two for toys ;) ). Are they available yet? lol :)

Yeah, you can order two. You would just have to go to my site and pic out the fabric and let me know what you want. I custom everything to your needs!
