The GENERAL SECTION stinks!!!
 
Bryleigh got into some chocolate from somewhere!!! DONT KNOW WHERE!!! Guessing it was one of my 2 teenagers rooms....she only ate about 1/3 of a miniture bar...acting halfway decent...have talked to the vet....he thinks Im over-worried....just want to hear its gonna be alright or something!!! Argggggggg

Kendra, I used to have a Min Pin that was a master at getting into my kids' backpacks and getting all kinds of candy including chocolate. She once got a full sized bar. My vet wasn't too concerned about her either and she was a tiny little dog. Have you looked up what to look for in case she's having a reaction? I forget what the major signs are since it's been so long ago. I remember it speeding her up and her acting like she was on drugs, (which is a symptom, I rember) but after a few hours that wore off and she was fine. I know Yorkies little systems are different and all dogs react different. Hugs, I think she will be alright though.

I posted my prayers on your thread in general forum. I have no experience with chocolate, but if your vet told you just to watch her, I am sure she will be ok. It has been a couple of hours hasn't it? I think if she were going to have a reaction, you would have seen some symptoms by now.

Kendra, I called my son at work and he said to watch her, if milk chocolate is not that bad, she might get hyper for a while and some soft stool, the problem is Dark Chocolate, then she might have diarreah, she did not eat a lot, just watch her for any reaction. but she should be fine in a day or so...

just keep an eye on her for a reaction. if she starts convulsing, having panting attacks, being lethargic, vomitting or diarrhea then go see a vet otherwise try not to worry much. had a dog eat an entire bag of milk chocolate cookies at my vets and nothing happened and it was a yorkie.

Thanks y'all!'n she is acting fine!!! Just tired!!! I'm very upset that my 16 year old
Daughter didn't act very concerned and spent her day an hour away with her bf....I have now claimed bryleigh as my own......no longer her responsibility

I hope everything is ok for "your furbaby" i know chocolate affects each dog differentley, just keep a close eye out for any changes and get to the vet at the first sign of any trouble.

Kendra, a long time ago I had a springer who got into some chocolate, it was the weekend and I was worried sick. I used a syringe and gave her a lot of water, trying to dilute the chocolate, and watched her closely. She had some running of the stool but that was it. Hugs...

My advice is to post things like this in Sick & Injured in the future. Things tend to get lost in the General Forum.
It sounds like your pup had a very small amount of chocolate...and if the vet said it is ok, I am sure it is.

I was just going to post the same thing. I'm sorry that I didn't respond earlier but my 16 yr old daughter distracted me :rolleyes: It's been hours and if you are not noticing anything by now I can't imagine she wouldn't be fine.

Let me add~with kids make sure you do not bring any Sugar Free products into your home. That is where the real danger could be~Xylitol poisoning :( Things like SF gum, pudding, jello all have Xylitol and that is deadly to any size pup.

I usually like my 16yr old,but not tonight. Brain is unplugged and cannt focus on the important stuff (like taking the dogs out on time). So I removed all distractions for a bit.

I did not know this. My DH is a diabetic and leans towards those kinds of products now and again. Jackson thinks the table is just an extension of the floor so I will definitely keep an eye out on those items for sure.
