Reminder: members allowed ONE thread per week and no selling We've had a few reported posts over the last month - so just thought I'd post a reminder about the rules in this section, which mainly are: 1. No selling in this section 2. Members are allowed ONE thread per week; they can share up to FOUR items in their thread |

That would mean photos of any four items for sale or the mention of any four item for sale. Is that correct ? If so, I am at fault, I listed six items in on thread. I'll get the hand of this sooner or later. Sorry, Ann wont happen again. |

I take it to mean we can have one thread per week with 4 different items in that thread. If I'm wrong I apologize. And I'll stop posting quilt photos. I didn't realize there were limits |
michelle you can just save them and put them into one post weekly if you choose. we love seeing them. the point is if you are selling items you cannot do it here. this is to show off your creations and discuss sewing ........its just best not to say selling these items or items sold in your thread. its perceived by some as another manner of advertising which is not what this thread is about. |
pretty sure it means you can post no more than one new thread a week and it can only have 4 outfits in it. I guess quilts would be the same qty. And in this section you can't talk about selling at all. Oh well IMO the section has gone down hill anyway, hardly any new stuff, it's so sad. I am glad I get to see as much of your guys' stuff on FB as I want Also it's a pain to post here I have to resize everyone of my photos just for this site, frankly they should be happy people are willing to do that and not limit them, but hey it's not my site |
well it is unfortunate because i love the ff but i agree.....i even feel not so great about posting and im never trying to sell here in this section or least that is not my intention ... for me it;s about gaining feedback and discussion and building a better sewing knowledge. |

I know I'm not the only one who window shops in here, but if it becomes a heavy selling, push my wares etc., then that removes the fun....for me anyway. Hardly any new stuff? Where have you been??? There is always new stuff in here and well it is summer time and I suspect some of the fashion guru's are enjoying it. Its kind of like when you see an ad in the paper...you see something you like you go to their store or fb as you said... "They should be happy.....???" Really? I think we should be happy they allow us to do anything here...this is not a marketing site, lets be real for a moment. As far as resizing pics...you and me are just pic illiterate! I too have troubles, but fully understand the reason "why"....we'd need a few new servers.... Have a nice cold glass of lemonade Donna, I think you need one!! :D |

I realize there is a fine line between selling and posting, several people here started out as posters until they were approached by people wanting to buy their items. I can definitely see that as a challenge to manage I don't see that much new, nothing compared to FB. This is not the only forum based web site I use but the only one that needs to have pictures resized really tiny. I know how to resize the pictures, however I just don't always want to spend the time to create a special size picture file just for YT. I guess you could say I come to YT for the content and FB for the photos, so I like having both in my life I could be wrong but for the admin person who I guess is the owner of the site, I believe this might be a business not a hobby, but that is just an assumption. I have seen ads here and donated/paid twice in one year and bought from paid sponsors so I guess I feel I have a small right to voice an opinion. Also this is not one of those tax exempt non for profits so that also leads me to assume this is not just a hobby. I have no complaints about that, I think anyone that wants to assume a task like running YT regardless if they do should make money from it. Most of us come to YT with lots of life history, dog history and internet history. My history and other experiences is often what prompts me to make some of the comments and opinions I do. Long before YT I have been a member of a huge offshore boating web site and everyone knew who the owner was, then he sold it to a big Forum hosting company and everyone knew about that. So I guess based on that I have always wondered why there seems to be a bit of a mystery on who owns it and no one ever discusses it. Have you ever wondered about that, or is it just me:D |

I'll take a tall cold glass of Lemonade, Please !! :D |
I did mention a quilt being for sale and I apologize. I only post the quilts as a "bring and brag" sort of thing, to show my accomplishments. From now on, I'll save up and post just once a week, unless there's another forum they'd be better in, since they aren't really "fashion for a pet" |

Personally, I try to limit how often I'll post what I've worked on here because I don't want to come across as pushy in any way. But, I'm also a vendor here on YT who pays yearly for the privilege of using the For Sale forum. I always figured if someone's shopping they'd head over there but I have seen several comments lately that tell me users think the place to find a vendor for anything handmade is here in the fashion Forum. Sorry, my postings have been slacking lately but there's SO much to do & so little time! |
I thought this area was stuff for sale too. The for sale section seems to mostly have bows?? So is this just to show off your own fashion and not stuff your selling? I totally want the stuff I see! |

Some including myself but not all of the members who post in the fashion forum (FF) do sell their product but no all will post them in the for sale thread. If you look at the persons signature some will have links to outside sites where they sell their items. :) Plus if you see something you like just ask, most members are more than happy to provide it for you. I think it may be best to PM that member. I think but am not sure if asking in the open forum is frowned upon. I do know that members are not allowed to offer our information such as links unless in our signature or it is in the proper forum. |
I hope I have not been in violation of this rule. I've been trying to make sure I only post one thread a week (if that much) sharing sewing projects. I've quit posting a lot be ause I didn't want to do the wrong thing or offend anyone. I have been trying to keep my questions more geared towards sewing help and such. If I did post more than I was supposed to it was purely unintentional. On another note though, I've been enjoying seeing everyone else who post their projects! It keeps me inspired to sew. :) |
It's very apparent the Fashion Forum has become a secondary place to find a vendor on YT. Just look down the list of threads started...nearly every single one is also a vendor. As I said last week, I've pretty much stopped posting my things here. I agree, it's sad to see what could have been a fun, education forum come to what it has. I really don't know how we could fix that unless we vendors opted out of posting our wares completely. That might encourage the every day joe(ette) to post things they've done without feeling their own handmade things were somehow not as nice. |
I think as for me personally, I will stop posting pictures in this section of things I make for others all together. It is apparent that it might be taken the wrong way, even though one's intentions are purely meant to share what they are proud of creating with their own two hands. I will still post things I make for my own and as for gifts though. For example, the crate cover I want to do. I know if I ever get it done and figured out, I'd like to share in case someone might want to converse with me about it. But as far as dresses or outfits that go on my own Facebook page or Etsy shop, I will not be putting them here. I just think it would be best for me as I do not want to make anyone mad or bend the rules. I would go along with whatever guidelines are set down as I love YT and enjoy being here. I just think for my own personal use, it's best if I don't post things as before. I'm not sure of the other 'vendors' who also post in this section and how they feel, but I sure do enjoy seeing their creations! :) |
It really is addicting making things with your own two hands isn't it Aymee? I just love taking flat fabric & turning it into something useful for a pup. That's how I got my start actually, making gifts to give to people in the YT gift exchanges. Poor Cathy, she got one of my first creations, a denim skirt that while cute, was riddled with flaws. It's really hard to judge how I'm doing sometimes since it's so hard for some folks to post pictures on YT (resizing can be a bear!) and off YT many just don't give the feedback like they do here. *sigh* I look forward to seeing what everyone's sewing too & hope that by us pulling back others will be more inclined to "show off"! :) |
sad, how about just posting them and saying look what I made, and not mention of it was for a client, I would hate to see you gals that sell stop posting pics. |

I think the fashion forum is just that.... sewing or projects. If you are selling post in the items for sale..there are two threads for that. If you are interested in buying something just post a thread asking. Also... for the vendors. I think it is cool to post what you make, but not something you made to sell in the fashion area. |
I guess I have been guilty as well of posting things I have made for other pups. I guess I just loved sharing their pics since there is so little I can sew for my "boy" Wallee. I also never had any intention of selling to YTers but rather was looking for feedback as there are so many creative sewers here. I use my facebook page as well for showing my stuff so I believe I too should only post there. I will still check in on the fashion forum, as I love the tutorials and ideas that so many generously share. |
I love seeing all of the post in the FF from fashion, quilting, embroidery you name I love it. . . If it had not been for those I would not have been so inspired to continue to sew and to start my own little shop. Believe my work is sub par to many others who post there but I have to start somewhere. I just recently found the for sale thread and felt comfortable enough with my work to post there and with any luck I will make a few sales. If not that's fine too. I'm grateful for YT for giving me the venue to do so. I see no need for any one of us to stop posting as long as everyone follows the rules that are in place and set by YT. their should be no reason for people who I have gotten my inspiration from to want to stop posting their work. There is so much more than just fashion to the FF but it is just that. A place to show our work, to be inspired and to inspire other. It has become a place to learn and to teach others and to ask for and give help where needed. I for one would hate to see Aymee or anyone of us stop using the FF in the manner it was put in place for. We should be able to post without feeling we are doing something wrong. I cant see how anyone would have an issue with us doing what YT has put in place for us to use as long as it is use properly. |

I agree, if a person is selling it should be done in the For Sale forum areas. I feel like some here in this Forum really don't understand what a struggle a new vendor faces because several have gotten their start here in the Fashion Forum. We can't go back & change that but we CAN try to make it more friendly for the average user & by the vendors agreeing to pull back some, I think that can be accomplished. I truly don't have a problem with other vendors asking for help...really, that's part of what makes this forum fun for me. I am pretty sure that's why the rules were put into place like they were. There's help here for times when we just can't figure out how to get a project completed. |

I would hate to see anyone stop posting their beautiful creations here. It's such a great spot for asking questions and sharing inspiration. From reading the original reminder, I take it to mean don't post something you've made and say that you are selling it for $x amount. If I am reading it correctly, it's perfectly fine to say that you made this piece for so and so's pup. |
Come on ladies, You cant be serious. This was meant as a friendly reminder and nothing more. Please continue to share your beautiful creations with us. There are so many other member who enjoy them and would really really miss seeing them. I am going to be very upset if you do not ! Nowhere is Ann's post did she mention that those of us who do sewing whether for profit, fun, or otherwise needs to stop posting. Only that there is a limit to the amount of post that YT allows per week. Which is quite understandable once you take note of the number of members who sew and share their work here in the FF. I think a limit is a good thing which I'm sure others would agree. As for me, I will continue to share my creations and sewing projects while following the FF rules and I hope that the rest of you will do the same. :D |
