Sounds like a great idea to get this book. I have not sewn since I was 19. But just received my Mom's very old Singer and hoping I will at least take it out and look at it. :) |
Sounds like a great read! :) |
I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the tip. |
Does it have a lot of colored pictures and illustrations? |
Maybe I need to buy this. Lol. I suck at sewing. Haha. |

I have the paperback edition. I LOVE it. It is so helpful. When I get stuck, I just pull it out and look at what I need to. |

I typically browse through them on my free time at the bookstore. But I haven't had the urge to buy one for sewing. So far I only have 3 dummies books for the library. Was it helpful? I like big hardcovers with loads of pictures and easy to follow instructions. That's what I did for my knitting. It was $40 but totally worth every penny. |
Hmmm maybe this is what I need ! Sewing has come such a long way since I was in school which is where I learn most of what I know. Even the terms have changes. Like Base stitch is now called Stay stitch I though stay stitch was some sort of Spray starch ! See right there "Dummy" and I felt like one too when I had to ask what it was . |

Isn't basting a temporary seam...and a stay stitch is so the seam doesn't stretch? If they change all the terms I am lost! |

Basting is temporary and removable. Stay stitches are to stabilize the fabric. And I teach sewing. |
