Need a flapper dress I am going to this big event in NYC, it's one of the pre parties before the Westminster dog show. It's a roaring 20's theme so I need a flapper dress for Lola, have any of you made a flapper dress, I can't decide if I should attempt this myself or if anyone else has any idea and would like to make it I am open to that as well. |
I believe Hobby Lobby has the fringe that would make this dress. I swear I saw it there last week?? You could make something really cute! :) Oh, and a cute feather headpiece! :) |
oh that is such a fabulous challlenge it is my favorite era. i have never attempted one. the fringe would be perfect idea though!! and beads...sparkly beads..oh lola is going to be a 20's bombshell!! you always go to the best events. |
I would think making a simple dress (one that doesn't flare at the skirt) and then sewing the fringe on would be the best! Ooooo that sounds fun! |
So just for fun I boogied flapper dog dress. Partycity had one on their website a red one for 12.99. I would think if you were handy w the sewing machine you could make a cuter one but at least that was an example! Good luck and please post a pic...I love flapper dresses! |
Ugh! That's g o o g l e d not boogied...darn autocorrect! :) |

I think I saw that dress, it's red fringe and looks sort of messy. My problem is I don't have a good pattern for Lola, I have tried copying dress tops I like but can't get it even. I friend of mine just told me today that she will make the pattern for me, so if that works out I am going to try my hand at something, Joann did not have great fringe selections and what they had was quite long, I will have to check Hobby lobby. thanks guys |

I am cracking up on the the idea of split up the thigh and a garter belt, trouble is Lola has pretty hair legs, should I shave them first:D But Lola is a show girl, with feathers in her hair, and a ............... |
Y'all go ahead and make fun of my creation!!!! LYNZY!!!! I know the dress is for Lola, unless Donna has grown a set of "hind legs"....but then, if Lolas turns out great, Donna can make a matching one! And Donna, you had the very song nailed, that was running over in my mind, as I created it!!!! Guess I will stick to breeding Yorkies and leave dress design to the pros.......thats OK....I will take my sick flu butt and go crawl back in my bed and pout....... |
what I plan on doing is making a longer harness vest and sewing some beaded fringe on the bottom and then sewing a ribbon, or maybe a sequined band between the vest and the beaded fringe to make it look like a dropped waist. I will then add a rosette to the side of the ribbon. I will sew a few rows of pearls on the bodice in the shape of a necklace. The bodice will probably be a shiny satin depending on what color beaded fringe I can find. I might add a little boa material as well because I would like to add that to the back of a bow to make a little head piece. Unfortunately I have to make two because my sister will be going with me and bringing her yorkie Lucy. I will be at my family's home several days before the event so I will make her do the hand sewing of the pearls:D |
maybe I could teach Lola to walk with a cigarette holder hanging out of her mouth, and find long white socks that look like gloves:D occassionaly she holds her bully stick like a cig hanging out of her mouth |
Lola does have few sets of pearl necklaces so she will wear those as well, I know I am a crazy dog mom since I care more about what she will wear than what I will wear. |
haha thats the ways moms are!! sounds like it will be very nice cant wait to see!! |
Please posts pics when you get it done...it sounds like its going to be adorable!!! Can't forget the red lipstick haha! |
