I made these for my 4. Money was a little short with vet bills, and my daughter being at the hospital, and christmas for our skin kids. I couldn't afford to buy them all an outfit, and I didn't want to leave anyone out, so I bought some dollar bibs hand sewed some velcro on the sides and shortened up the neck area and made these. I had a sewing machine my husband bought me for christmas, but when I found out about it I took it back to give the kids a christmas, so the sewing is not so good because I had to do it by hand. This is one of my first ever sewing projects. If you have any ideas about how to make these better please let me know. I could not get the other ones to sit still to take a pic so my models are Colby and Angel :)

Prince Toby, the outfits are very pretty! I read about using bibs but I have yet try out . Cool ;)

Thank you everybody. I think I have $2.00 invested in making these per pup. So $8.00 total. I couldn't find one outfit cheaper than $8.00. I can't wait to be able to eventually get a sewing machine I have all kinds of ideas. I just hope they work out like I have pictured in my mind.

from the photos they look amazing, I never would have guessed you made them from bibs let alone from the dollar store, they look comfty and the appliques look high quality.
It's a coincidence that I would read this today because I was looking closely at the little bathrobe that Lola got in the gift exchange earlier today and my thought was it looked like it was shaped like a bib with ties in the center and a little collar and I was thinking what a comfortable style and perhaps I could alter a bib for Lola. How sweet of you to take back the sewing machine so your kids could have more gifts, you must be a wonderful mom.

Thank you for the kind words. It really was nothing to take back the sewing machine. My husband and I have not done Christmas for each other since we lost our business 4 years ago. We have always said Christmas is for the kids and no matter what we have had to sell (with the exception of our fur babies) or take back to the store we have always made sure our kids have had a Christmas. We pretty much do the same thing through out the year. The kids always come first. I believe God has a plan for us though, and everything will turn around for us soon. We are just patiently waiting on him.

I have an old singer sewing machine (5-6 years) that I no longer use because I got a new one. It works great still. I don't have the book that came with it but I'm sure you could download one from the Internet. You are more than welcome to it for free if you want to pay shipping from my zip code to yours??

money is tight, tight, this year so i looked thru my sewing stiff and low and behold I had some blue satin from my son's wedding where I had the bridemaid's dreese so I made a little dress for my oldest granddaughter, got into my yard andmade hats and scarfs and purses what a christmas the grand kids are going to have. made my yorkie a shirt from a onies. sorry no pics I'm at work everyone have a merry christmas:)

I have two 3 lb. blind yorkies now, that lost weight do to early kidney disease. Their clothes are too bid, so this idea sounds great for some new reasonable outfits for the girls. Can even use wide ribbon on the sides of the bib, criscross under the tummy and bring back up on their back with a bow ! I'm off to the dollar stores !! Thanks to you, they will have new outfits for Christmas too. :)

They are adorable!! I would never have thought of doing that. Money is really tight (clothes washer is dying) so I skipped a Christmas outfit. Next year I know what I will be doing.

I tried to multi-quote and respond to you, but it did not show up for some reason. Thank you I would love the sewing machine. I would have to wait until after christmas when I could afford the shipping fee. Is that okay?

What a clever idea... I don't sew at all, so I am much impressed!! Times have been so difficult for so many... I pray this coming year will be a good one for you and that you will be able to have a sewing machine .. Blessings... Donsie
