I've personally fielded the concerns about this section for almost, what, a year now...? And Admin and Jmuedog have done the same. The many concerns that have been expressed during this time have been valid. We can all see that I started this very thread back in JUNE; after that point, we hoped the discussion in this thread would have helped enough in working out the kinks. It didn't. Hence, now we're compelled to find a more official way to manage the issues in this section. Now, if all that is considered petty - I'll certainly be happy being called petty :). Look folks, this is not a one-sided deal here, so let's please not be polarizing. If this was one-sided, we'd either ignore the concerned members OR we'd shut down this section completely. That's one sided. I'm pretty sure we're all on the same team here, at least I hope so. Like I said earlier, we're trying to find the middle ground - I think that's a pretty fair goal to all, and we can't do much better than that. And p.s. - I really don't have a problem with a limit of 4 new items. Let's try it. But please keep in mind that if we need to change it again, then we need to be flexible. |

Thanks! |
I have posted a thread in the FF a few times trying to gauge how a certain project would be received by the public. Several times, a certain person tried to get me to post specifics about a popular dress I make but I tried to keep those replies very generic. So, if I was guilty of side bar marketing, I DO apologize. Please feel free to delete those threads. My feelings about the forum have not changed since June. As for not looking at the forum, it became impossible to NOT see the constant posting of threads that were here when looking through the New Posts. I'm glad the new rule for this forum has been put into place. I think it's more than fair & will encourage others to "show off" a bit too. |
I'm new to YT and I'm a wannabe sewer. I just want to add that I greatly appreciate that for the most part, this topic has been handled very constuctively. I've been on several breed forums and things get so nasty people leave in droves. I applaud the moderators for opening up the conversation rather than laying down the law. Self governing, as much as that is possible, is a great thing IMO. I LOVE seeing the creative use of fabric patterns and colors. I'm not nearly as creative. I do admit that my immediate thoughts were "I'm gonna have so-n-so make me a dress too!" That's excellent indirect marketing. Not that it's intentional, it just is. If the posts didn't specifically say, "I just made this for.." or "This was a custom order...", as a newbie, I never would have known the poster was a doggy seamstress. Again, I'm not saying that was intentional. I love to share and would have probably stated it the same way, never thinking of the effect it had. Thats just my opinion. I am so greatful that I can voice my opinion politely and respectfully and not get blasted just the same. I love seeing the fashions whether they are for sale or not. I must admit, I prefer seeing them on actual dogs rather than props. The dogs are cuter, but I can get a better sense of how it actually fits, lays, etc. Again, I'm not very creative, or visual either. I hope no one leaves this forum. IMO, everyone loses when that happens. The individuality of people is what makes any group great. OTOH, that same individuality is what makes things such a challenge, at times. I am very glad to have joined this forum and hope to see tons more yorkie clothes. |

Thank you for the welcome! I'm embarrased to say I've spent the majority of the day surfing the net for bows and dog clothes, and looking at outfits worn my member's yorkies. Should have been doing: laundry, errands, mopping... :embar: |

I shop for other people, too!!! Some deals MUST be passed along. I've found I get just as much pleasure having my friends by things as I do buying dog things myself. Also, I don't spend as much money that way! :D |
