Because even though she made it, and is making commission off of it, it's not actually for sale to anyone else. So I think custom made projects should be posted here for everyone, including the buyer, to ooh and ahh at.

Some people may feel differently about that though, as it is a product she is technically marketing, though not directly. What do y'all think?

I totally agree with this post as far as this section is concerned. (giving you two thumbs up :thumbup:)

I just wanted to say I have bought from a few YT sellers on threads about which brush should I use.....O never see Mim. Posting MINE! Use topline Madam brhed...its usually one if ia who love them... when there is a thread about making an emergency kit ot getting ready for spay HRM isn't pushing kissecones again iys one of us who use and love them who bring them up....however its just good business and really helpful when those sellers offer product advice or say Hi I sell those contact me with any questions here's my site etc to help people navigate.

Honestly I can get cloths with a D ring attached locally but that's not an option for everyone and I personally feel its great in a fashion forum especially to use the threads as a medium for opinions on design and needs etc. I think YT sellers especially make and sell what they use and honestly some say because they couldnt find it avalible so they made it...tgey have yorkies so they know the needs etc.

On that note Doggles are super in right now anyone selling them pm me!

Just fyi to those who frequent this section:

Over the last month, we've received a few different concerns again regarding this section. I'm looking into a few different options on how we can address concerns. Just wanted to make sure to let folks know I'm looking into options. :)

chinalee61 03-09-2013 12:03 PM

I love this section. Its great to see and share other peoples creations. I've learned a lot with tips and sewing in general. This section is what gave me the inspiration to create things for my fur babies! And now I'm a fabric hoarder!!!! Lol

Ldyrev1 03-09-2013 01:28 PM

I think we all are thinking the same thing here. We want to have a place where we can brag a little bit, get input from others, and Maybe learn something in the process.

I love that I have learned that there are gifted and talented people on YT that are willing to show the things they are making for their babies! I love that some of these same people offer some of these items for sale.

I agree that the YT forum should not be used as a way to promote sales however, with that said, I do think that people should be allowed to direct others to where they can make purchases if they so choose. I understand the concern that some may have regarding allowing "sales" through this forum however, I don't know that giving someone direction on how to make that connection is or should be against the rules.

The point I guess I am trying to make is, that if we all want the same thing, I'm not sure what the real problem is. Just my thoughts.

rilysmom 03-09-2013 01:49 PM

I love this section. I love to "show off" what I've created for my own furbabies and I love seeing what others have made for theirs. But, I think the selling should only be done in the "yorkie products for sale" section because only donating members are allowed to post items for sale. I'm not sure what the issues are because I have not read all the posts in this thread, so I may be way off base here.

See now, I must just be out to lunch today. LOL I am so out of the loop! LOL:confused:

I know I post alot in this section but I have absolutely tried my best to not post anything that goes in my own etsy shop. The majority of the things I post are from things I have made from special requests people have sent me through emails or private messaging. But I know that there have been posts I have posted and fellow YT'ers may ask me a question regarding if they may purchase one like it. I always answer their questions in a pm as I know we had this issue come up before. I love YT and the fashion forum. I just hope post like mine are not going to be banned because a fellow poster asks about the selling and buying stuff. I mean, I cannot do anything about it if someone posts on a thread asking to buy a item. But again, I do address that in a pm and not on the forum. I thought I doing the right thing in that circumstance but if I'm wrong please do let me know what I need to do. I don't want to be breaking any rules or anything. YT is my favorite place to be online and I sure wouldn't want to not be here. If I have overstepped the rules in any way, I can honestly say it was a honest mistake. I in no way mean to be disrespectful towards anyone or make anyone upset with me. That may not even be the case bit I just felt the need to say the aforementioned just in case. If need be I will post pictures only and not even say who/what it's for. Maybe when we oust pictures we can just tell things like the size it is, where we got the supplies? Idk but I'll do whatever you guys agree on. :)

This is the new policy:

Update:

Members are allowed ONE thread per week for posting FINISHED items, and no more than that. If you are not posting a finished item and/or just want to discuss topics or pictures of projects you're working on, this limit does not apply.

If your item is more than 80% finished, please consider it a FINISHED item as it applies to this new rule; the exception to this would be if you're working on a project, it's 80% + finished, but you have a question on technique or have run into something about which you need help so that you can finish the project. In this case, you do not need to consider it a 'finished' product when posting.

Please assume the week runs Monday - Sunday for the purposes of one finished-product thread per week.

Read and understood. Thank you for setting a guideline more clearly. Now I know what I can do and can't do. Now, are we limited to the number of things in that one post per week? For example lets say one was to make 10 dresses in a week. Is she allowed to post all if those in that one weekly thread or only one item per the weekly thread?

Thanks! :)

My thoughts are that 10 would be excessive, but it would sure speak to talent! Let's go ahead and clarify so that it's all relatively the same number per person, per week - so we'll clarify the rule as 'up to 2 finished items'. If that proves to be the wrong number of items over time, then we can always go back and either decrease or increase that number later.

Gotcha! Thanks for answering that question for me.

MandiesMom 03-09-2013 08:03 PM

So, if I make 4 or 5 items during the week, and am proud of my hard work and wanted to share with my friends and fellow YT members, I can only show off 2 of those items in my one thread?

I don't sew a lick, but if I could do crafts like that, it sure would be a bummer not to be able to show it off to my extended "family" here.

I get only having 1 thread per week (that seems fair for sure), but only allowing 2 items in that thread seems kind of harsh.

I've never voiced an opposition to any rules before because I think I agreed to the rules when I became a member and I think the rules are dead on. I have no dog in this fight and never will, but I think allowing only 2 items in that ONE thread per week is pretty strict.

rubynrosie 03-09-2013 08:20 PM

Ann-

Gosh I would hate to be a moderator as i cant imagine its an easy job by any means. Im not sure I get where this is coming from but would you please reconsider the amount per week??? It has been so much fun looking at every one's creativity on this thread...its almost inspiring me to get my 15 year old sewing machine out to try some sewing for my girls. I get kind of sad thinking of all the ideas we will be missing out on if people only get to post two! Im thinking if its because there are so many threads in this one forum just making the OP keeping their ideas under one thread a week would slow that down...

LilAnnCamp 03-09-2013 08:47 PM

I'm super sad about this too... I don't sew but this forum is my favorite. :(

DBlain 03-09-2013 08:48 PM

:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown
This is freaking hilarious, one thread per week of an 80% finished item. Why not just kill the section then, talk about boring:(, if it was not for Aymee posting pictures there would be hardly anything to look at here. I am happy that I am on a bunch of fashion pages on facebook so I can see stuff there. Most of the stuff I look at on FB is for sale, but who cares I don't buy it but I sure like getting ideas and looking at pretty pictures. But I guess here at YT we need to be protected from those hard talking, hard selling fashion peddlers.

So I guess it's ok to post a zillion pictures of Joel or Oscar, but heaven forbid someone post more than one thread a week of what they have made because someone might be tempted to ask to buy it.

you know the funny thing is that posting pictures on YT takes a lot more effort than sharing them on FB so I am surprised people even want to make the effort here since it is obvious that there are a few people behind the scenes complaining. And for those of you that did  shame on you for ruining it for those of us that enjoy looking at items regardless if it may or may not be for sale. :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown

southernbelle04 03-09-2013 09:01 PM

I would be lying if I said I wasn't sad about the new rules too but what can ya do? I guess I'd rather follow the rules and still get to share a fraction of my passion for sewing than not share anything at all. I can see both sides of the opinions here but it still makes me sad. I guess I'll have to find a sewing forum too so I can share with other sewing enthusiasts although they might think I'm nuts for loving to sew fo dogs as I do. Lol. ;)

rubynrosie 03-09-2013 09:06 PM

I am sad Aymee too...I loved looking at your ideas. Do you have a facebook page that you could post too? I would love to add it to my friends/interests lists if you do so I can stay up on all your new stuff.

I have my things posted under my own personal Facebook account. I need to start another one just for sewing and the Y2H stuff. I'll try and do that ASAP. But for now, I'm Aymee Fretwell Gandy on FB. :)

I've had people tell me they have trouble finding me but I do follow the Yorkie Talk fb feed so you might can find me on their subscriber list easier.

LilAnnCamp 03-09-2013 09:30 PM

Amyee! Why didn't I put the dress for auction and your name together? The one with feathers!! I'm gonna friend you too if you dont mind!

southernbelle04 03-09-2013 09:35 PM

Sounds good! ;)

I created a page for my clothing too. Mind you it's bare right now. I'll work on it this week.

WOW! REALLY!! Im just seeing this. I dont understand the problem, never saw a problem with this particular forum. For those of us that enjoy creating for our babys it was a wonderful outlet to share.

JasmineNoelle 03-09-2013 10:01 PM

This is sad, I don't post often, but I love looking at all the wonderful things that people have made. Too bad.

Aymee your grace in all of this just speaks to the wonderful and sweet person you are. I wish others would be the same way. I will continue to order from you and post my pictures because your work is beautiful not to mention the great customer service:) Glad I can check out your work on Etsy:)

I couldn't have said it better! I love Aymee and all her creations!

Lil Sis 03-10-2013 03:26 AM

I think amyee's talent has grown a lot. I love looking at her dresses. BUT...the bottom line is this is a fashion forum and the lines between fashion and sell have been blurred. It doesn't really bother me because I could choose or choose not to click on her post..but because of the blurring of the rules I am sure it bothern some.

We have to think.. if we let this rule blur how does admin enforce other rules?

So the question is, can Amyee post in pictures? Where should she post? If I posted pictures of quilts I made (and do sell from time to time) where should I post ..even if that quilt is not for sell?

This site is for the joy of us all and I hope we can find a way to make all happy.. or at least have the guide lines to keep us under control

negative is not good

rilysmom 03-10-2013 04:42 AM

As I said, I love seeing all the pretty creations in this section; plus showing off my own, but I have to agree with Ann. Ten a week is still too many. That is too close to marketing and this section is not for marketing anyone's items. I'm not picking on you, Aymee, so please don't take my post that way. It is just that if we all posted 10 items a week, then this would become a marketing section with no rules. I love Aymee's creations....I have a couple of her dresses and I love them. Although I sew, I will probably buy more dresses from her in the future because I love her flair...Aymee, you are very talented! :)

GeorgiesMomma 03-10-2013 04:49 AM

I don't think when Aymee posts pics of her creations she is "selling" them because for the most part they are already sold:) If there were pics and price tags then yes I understand limiting it but that's not the case. I don't want to speak for Aymee just giving my opinion. The only reason I ever click on the fashion section is to see what Aymee made so I guess I won't be in this section much anymore. I will still be on YT that won't change but I must admit this is probably the first new rule that I think is questionable.
