Do tell! What kinds of projects are you all working on? I wanna see and hear all about 'em! We've got so many new sewing enthusiasts joining us every week! It's so exciting! I can't wait to be inspired by all of you! ;)

Well as for me, I did work today. I worked on a little project for a fellow yt'er. I still have to put 2 minor touches on it and I'll be done. I gotta go to the store. I was going to go today but it rained all day and I was home alone so I stayed in. But I am headed there tomorrow. So in the meantime, I worked on another little project. I promise to share ASAP! I'd tell you guys what it is but I don't want to ruin it for the recipient so mum is the word for now. Tee hee! Anywho, tomorrow I need to work at my scrapbooking desk and then sew some in the evening. I'm waiting on the mailman to bring me some super important fabric too. I wish it would come already!!!! I'm not known for my patience. Lol

All my time and projects are focused on our SB in the gift exchange. I have about 5 custom items I am making for them and I just got my quilt pieces and design for a rag quilt finished up yesterday. Now I have the job of sewing all my pieces together. The hard part is over though..cutting out all those squares and the batting and pinning it all together, now comes the fun part.

i actually put together my very first handdrawn pattern-i used rulers and such. its a revision of my summa dress so tonight im gonna cut out all my fabric and see if i even came close with my own pattern design. should be interesting!! =*(())

Oh Geez! I posted pics thinking if the person wanted to make any changes to the dress, I could do it before sending it off! I hope I didn't ruin anything for anyone... I'll have to ask in advance from now on!:eek:

As for projects, my new living room flooring is in... in boxes in the middle of the LR!

That is gonna be one happy SB in the exchange! I love custom made stuff! I can't wait to see all of the pix you guys post when you get your packages. I need to play along in the next one. It sounds really fun!

You'll have to share pix of your quilt too! I love quilts! I wish I had more of my grandmothers quilts but I have an Aunt who took it upon herself to go in and take most of them. Now she won't share them with the rest of the family. My grandmother made one with pansies on it that is gorgeous and I covered up with it all the time as a child. I'd love to be able to cover up with it today! But, my hubby's grandmother also quilted. She made some gorgeous double wedding ring quilts that we have. I just adore double wedding ring! I wish I could have one of those old fashioned one's that has the cute little boy and little girl with bonnet silhouettes. You know what I'm talking about? I can't remember what it is called. My grandmother had some on some pillowcases that I always loved. It's a basic pattern, just a silhouette. I think I found them on an embroidery site where you can stitch them on things, but I forgot the name. And I guess I need an embroidery machine first! LOL

Well how crafty are you! That is awesome! I can't wait to see! :)

Oooh new home changes! I love doing that! We can't right now since we rent and I hate it. I miss owning our own home. We bought one right before we got married and completely redid everything. It was just like I wanted it and then Brandon got the call that he was being transferred. It was hard to sell that house after all the love I put into it. It was just a small ranch home, but I had changed out all the floors, cabinets, countertops, bathroom fixtures, even the doorknobs. Had custom blinds done, custom drapes. I miss it so! I would love to buy another home here, but the hubby does not want to. He is doing all he can to transfer back to Alabama and he doesn't want to go through that whole selling process again. I reckon' when the time comes, we will be living in his parents house. They had 'that' discussion with us when we were home last time on vacation. They are getting older and had made out their will. They own their home and have decided to leave it to their sons, my husband and his brother. Well his brother owns his own home in Auburn, AL and said he did not plan on moving. So I guess we will live there. It is a beautiful home, very big. But it needs a lot of updating. They just put a new roof on the house and had the main areas of the home repainted. But it needs new windows and that will cost a small fortune. I also would completely gut the big bathroom, kitchen, and 2 other bathrooms in the house. They all need to be redone. But I don't even want to think about that too much. I want my in laws here for a good long time!!! I am blessed with the best in laws ever! I would go live with them if I could! LOL! How many people would say that? But seriously, they are great! His Mom is like my own Mom. She is so cool and funny! We are more friends than in laws I think. Anyways, I'm rambling.

What kind of new flooring are you doing? I'd love to have some nice hardwood or something. I just hate this blue carpet in this home we rent. For one, it's just not my style at all. Second, it's hard to spot any accidents if you don't catch them right away. Although, KS hasn't had a potty accident in a long while, you never know and I obviously cannot keep my eyes glued to her all the time. We are about to rent a carpet cleaner I think and steam clean. I'm so picky about stuff like that.

It's 3.25" hardwood, gunstock in color... can't get up and see the label, Lol. DH works for a flooring distributor and this was a product they were going to start carrying. 18 boxes were to be made into samples... they decided not to sell it and told him to throw it all away!

Oh I bet it was hard selling that house! After all your hard work!:(

Haha! I should have enough to redo the kitchen too, where the pipes leaked last month! Then I'll install a water alarm!:D

OMG,Those alarms are life-savers! Or, I should say money savers!:D I would suggest that everyone get one for each bathroom. Back in '08 we had a problem with the toilet tank in the master bath and it flooded the whole master bedroom, closet, bath, hallway, computer room, and living room. All in about 2-hours! Took a full flood crew, a week with dryers and $1500 later to get back to "normal". Learned our lesson, and bought 2 alarms for each of our bathrooms. Worth it for peace of mind!

Eh....its a rainy day today and I'm trying to relax before work. So we set off to go to hobby lobby to buy velcro so I can fix Luma's dresses. Well, I spotted a knitting starter kit that showed how to make a doggy scarf, treat bag, and toy. I've always wanted to knit/crochet. So I got the kit. Well kudos to the "kids" this and kit is marketed towards...I am sooo stressed out! This is REALLY hard!! I wanna quit already and I just barely learned how to "cast on" and im completely lost on the basic knit stitch. Ugh.

ok here is the reason I have not been on much. I have been playing with my new machine. Now I know I still have a long way to go but I think I did ok. Sadie did not want to model for me today

I got more. The vest is for Scooter and I made the boys all bandannas to match for the 4th and I also have some different fabric to make the girls a dress for the 4th. I made Scooter a bandanna to match Sadie's Support the Troops dress

Whoo hoo Kathy...free flooring! That is awesome!! Now...I am clueless here, what is a water alarm? I mean, I think I know but we have never had one so I thought I'd ask. Thankfully, we have never had any problems with flooding or water issues. My parents have though. The bathroom that is upstairs (my apartment when I go home...LOL) has though. The toilet tank decided to mess up when they weren't home. They were actually on vacation. Well it got all over the floor and it even got under the floor upstairs. It left water damage on the ceiling in the bedroom below it. It was a mess to clean up too!

Yay Carmen! Learning how to crochet! You can do it! I know it must be hard to figure it out, but I know you can do it! When I get frustrated, I try to step away and come back to it later. That helps me. I can't tell you how many times I've had to walk away from my sewing machine or scrapbooking desk. LOL ;)

No sewing. I still have to save up for a nice machine. In the meantime, I'm working on several projects for both girls' buddies and have taken up crafting jewelry in my spare time. I went to Micheals today and didn't see what I wanted so I guess it's another trip to Hobby Lobby for me this weekend.
Haha I know what you mean. I have friend who knit beautiful beanies and was inspired to learn something new. I recently taught myself to knit and made mini scarves for the fluffs. It took a whole day just go get the knit stitch down and the next day on how to purl. With that said, I have put my knitting needles aside.

water alarm - Google Search

Place them near any possible water leak source, like your washer, dishwasher, sink, hot water heater, toilet, etc. When it detects water, an alarm sounds!

I have to work til midnight CST :( I'm gonna get this though!!! I just gotta...google it or something I guess. Like I made the 10 loops on the left needle. Problem is adding the other needle in. I hold the right needle, insert it into the loop and under the left needle, but then the part where you wrap the yarn around and between and transfer the loop, I am doing something wrong. Nothing is even happening, it just kinda undoes itself and I am wrapping and slipping the stitch off incorrectly. I should make a video....I feel like a failure! How hard is it to comprehend step by step instructions? With pictures!!!!!

Those are so pretty! Makes me feel a little better that it took you a whole day...hehe :D I am so not a quitter though, but this is really testing me.

I think you may have casted on wrong... there are a few different ways to do it... here's a way that looks easy to me:


The main difference between knit and purl is the direction the right needle enters the front loop of each stitch. Knit is front to back, Purl is back to front.


One for the knit stitch: (working end of yarn is behind the needles/away from you)



One for the Purl stitch: (working end of yarn is in front of the needles/toward you)

My project
 

I have been working on some clothes for my baby, yet to come. They can all be altered if need be. I crocheted a beautiful hooded pink sweater with a small silk rose on it, booties to match, and a blanket. Crocheted a sun dress. Sewed a sun dress today, but no embellishments yet. Have to go shopping. Just wanted to make a few things. Tomorrow I am going to make a cover for her puppy apartment (crate). It has 3 doors so will make it so it will roll up at the doors or let down. Had some leftover fabric from a chair I redid.:bulb:

Thank you so much for the videos. I got off a little early and I actually was already watching these exact ones before I saw that you sent them to me on here. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I tried doing it like the videos but something isn't right. I'm so frustrated I wanna cry lol. It's making me feel really stupid!!! I can't cast on the way it's done in the video either....idk. Sorry :( Thank you for all your help.

Well I finally got down her method of casting on...its a start right?? I'm gonna practice it lots and lots before I even try to do the knit stitch...

Wait until you learn how to bind off, makes casting on a cinch. But once you got the basics down you can do almost anything. For me, the difficult part was handling the needle. It takes lots of practice and patience and to think knitting is suppose to be relaxing and stress free!

I can't wait until I get to sewing. All I can do right now is drool at everyone elses creations. lol :)
