Lexi's pups have arrived... 4 Attachment(s) Attachment 82127 Attachment 82128 Attachment 82129 Attachment 82130Well let's see as of right now I've got two good looking pups that are out of her tummy. We started at about 2 am. I am in total shock right now I have no idea what I'm doing other than just doggy sitting. She's actually doing really well for being a first timer. I have a few shots of the pups and will be sure to add more as the others are born. The vet said there's six so here's hoping for 4 more healthy little ones to come out within the next few hours. I do need some help though any advice would be helpful if you are up and are able to give me advice please call me my cell is 928-446-9352. I have nobody in the area that can help me out with questions....I've got another on the way stay tuned for the new pic once she gives me a chance. |
Awww, look at the precious babies!! I love the second picture with the mom and the babies. They are so cute and so small. I wish I could help you out but I am just learning about breeding and the whelping process so I wouldn't be any help. I hope all is going well and that you have 6 healthy puppies. By the way, you never said what the first two were. Are they boys or girls?? Please keep us updated!!! |
I haven't checked them yet she keeps taking them from me whenever I try to check. we just delivered puppy number 4 wow this is exhausting. Poor Harley is not a happy camper at the moment he got kicked out of the bedroom when all this started. I think we might have a runt with puppy number 4 not sure though still waiting on 2 more. I myself don't give birth until next month so this is all a learning process for me. |
Sounds like she is doing ok, just clean the puppy's mouth out. Congrats :) |

Litter Update 4 Attachment(s) Okay so the first day went pretty well the pups seem to be taking to mama. She finally started to eat so I'm guessing that's a plus. Now I'm just hoping that she continue to eat even while we are at work. I just know how well this play pen thing is going to work because she's jumping out of it. So I'm going to have to move them into a storage container that's lower to the ground so that she can get in and out whenever she wants. I finally was able to weigh the pups. Here's what we got: Pup #1- 2.5 oz. Pup #2- 2.3 oz. Pup #3- 3.0 oz. Pup #4- 1.5 oz. Pup #5- 2.7 oz. Is this typical birth weight for these guys? The male is the one that weighs more compared to the girls. Here's a few more pics...enjoy! |
awww...i just love babies... i don't know what is typical or not but i wanted to tell you that you have some pretty babies!!! :-) congrats to you and your new mommy!!! i am sooo sorry to hear that you lost one. i know that one is in a good place and i am sure my boy who is also gone is right there looking out for it keeping it safe for you! my prayers are for the best for your little ones and the mommy right now! :-) i hope for the best for all of them! watching your babies and mommy is helping me since i will be experincing the mommy thing with my Lexie in january. i truly wish you the best!!! ~Tru |

Yes it was a pretty big litter I'm just thankful that they are all doing well. Poor Harley is feeling a bit left out because he can't get in on any of the action with the pups. I think he still is just too crazy to even have around them. Hopefully things will be just fine once the pups are a bit older. How old do they have to be before they can interact with dad? Lexi, Harley and I would like to thank you all for taking interest in our new litter and also for all the help you've given us. We would be lost without the advice that's for sure. I'm not taking pics today I want the pups to rest but as soon as I get more I will be sure to post them. |
There's some weight gain As of tonight (Day 2) the puppies are weighing in at: #1 - 2 oz #2 - 3 oz #3 - 3 oz #4 - 1.5 oz #5 - 3.5 oz Their bellies are looking like bowling pins. I am still monitoring them as far as how long they are on the teet for just to make sure that they are all eating. Lexi is doing well she's still being a good mama. The only thing that worries me now is getting their tails and dews done...I don't want to lose one again. |
Quick update on Day 3 the pups went in to get their tails and dews done. Everything went well so I though until I lost a puppy. I picked them up and was very annoyed at the fact that they didn't follow through with the instructions I left. I asked for them to please have the heating pad on constantly no matter if mama was in with the pups. The pad was never turned on come to find out. My one and only male was cold when I picked him up. He later was stiff as could be when I went back to check on them after Lexi finished up nursing. This is so upsetting to lose another puppy. The good news is though that my 1.5 oz pup is at 3.0 oz now and the other 3 pups are 4.5 oz. |

Awww, they are all so precious!!! I am so sorry you lost a little boy. I would have been so mad at the vet, that is just carelessness on their part and because of it you lost a little boy.:( I was thinking the average weight is around 3-5oz when born, but I could be wrong. I am glad the other puppies are all doing well and gaining weight and glad the mom is doing good as well!! Keep us updated on their progress!! |
