Shyla is a mama! Shyla gave birth to 3 beautiful babies during the night last night. 2 girls weighing 6 oz. each and one big bouncing boy weighing 7.5 oz.!! She did an awesome job, but kept me up all night with a retained placenta. We went to the vet first thing this morning and she and the babies checked out fine. We're still waiting on her to pass the placenta. I haven't taken any pictures yet, but I will as soon as I can and will share them! |
OMG!!! CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS, SHYLA!!!!!! That is just wonderful. I sure hope the puppies do well and that Shyla passes her placenta sooner than later! Can't it cause an infection if it is not passed?! Good luck to all of you! Can't wait to see pics of the cute little pups! |
Congratulations to the little mama (and the Grandma, too!)!! |
Congratulations!!! Is that the average size for puppies, or is Shyla a little teapot? No offense intended, just curious. |
Congratulations!!! How sweet, we want to see pics soon!! |

Shyla weighs 6lbs. Her average baby is usually around 3.5 to 4 oz. My other dog, Blossom, weighs 8lbs. Her babies are 4 to 5.5 oz. at birth. They have each had babies as small as 2 oz. though. I would much rather have these bigger, healthier pups! It will be interesting to see what they end up at full grown. Oh, and btw... I only live about an hr. south of you! |
Congrats On the new babies, hope Shyla passes the placenta and that you to can get some much deserving rest. Congrats sounds like the pups are healthy. The pups in my litter were about 7oz each when born and I never had any problem with any thing with them. They are now 11wks and healthy as can be. Good luck:) |
Congratulations on the new babies. Hope everything will be all right with the Mama!! Looking forward to the pictures. |
congrats on the new kids...glad all went well, those are some very nice healthy weights. |

I used to go up to Omaha all the time. I had my last 2 babies at Methodist. I love to shop at Mall of the Bluffs. BTW... did you hear that story on the news about the lady that got super glued to the toilet seat there? (totally OT! lol) |

My husband was telling me about that. The poor thing. It is funny, but what a horrible experience that must have been. They'll probably never catch the little ba****** that did it. |
Congratulations, cant wait to see pics :) |
Congratulations!!!! I sure hope that placenta has passed by now. Please let us know. I'd love to see pictures of your new babies!! Did your vet give her a shot to help with any infection that may occur due to the retained placenta? |
Congrats on the new babies!!! Now all we need are pictures! |

Wonderful that she passed it!!!!!  Also wonderful that you knew to keep track! I have tried several vets....I really do like the fact that one of them gives a shot of anitbiotic to the Mamma when I take her in (and the pups) within 24 hours of whelping....it just makes me feel better. |
Congratulations on the babies!!! I hope mom is doing well!! |
Congrats! |
congrats!! babies are soo cute. |
Congratulations on some pretty healthy sized puppies!!! My Lucy gave birth three weeks ago to two 6 oz puppies.... She used to average 3 to 5 oz puppies..... IS THERE SOMETHING IN THE WATER making them bigger????:yelrotflm :congrats: Keep us posted. |

How exciting! Congrats....I hope to know if my little Jaxon & his "wife" Lilly are pregnant within the next 2 weeks!!!:) |
New Mama Hi everyone. I am brand new at this. My yorkie Sweet Pea had 4 puppies early Sunday morning. So far two have died and I am getting conflicting information on how to feed the pups. Sweet Pea won't eat much so she doesn't have much milk. I've tried giving her Hills AD, dry puppy food, cottage cheese and I even went and bought her a McDonalds hamburger but no luck. My vet says to tube feed the pups, another vet says to bottle feed them. Anyone with experience on this out there? Thanks!! |
