Meet Cooper :) 4 Attachment(s) Hello Everyone!!! I have a new son! His name is Cooper. He was born 10-25-2011 so that makes him 2.5 months (or 10.7 weeks or 75 days) LOL. Cooper is my first Yorkie. However, I am familiar with the Yorkie breed. Currently i am unsure of his weight. I have only had him for 1 day and he doesn't register on a human scale. Any advice for me? Also, I have noticed that he has one ear that flips forward and the other ear is always standng straight up. Is this normal for a puppy or will he be this adorable forever? :) |
oh my gosh, Cooper is adorable! Congrats. Love the 3rd picture with his ears up and down. lol Welcome to YT. Have you considered getting a carseat for your cutie? We have the snoozer carseat which he can be tethered in. I like them because the can sit up high and look out the windows. |
Hi and Welcome to YT! Do you have a food or postal scale you could weigh him on? His ears may take time to stand up, but he will always be adorable, either way, lol! And, yes, carseats or restraints are highly recommended.... air bags can kill. |
Cooper is so cute, My BJ born Oct.29. I would suggest first thing is to the Vet for examination. They will weigh Cooper and answer any questions you may have. Good Luck. |
Congrats on your new baby Cooper he is so cute :) |
Cooper is a cutie!! Congratulations. Ears flopping a bit at this age is normal; could be caused by teething and/or the weight of the hair on his ears. If you trim the hair off of the top 1/3 of the ears, I'll bet they will both be standing soon after. |
Copper is so cute. You may try trimming the ear tips to get the weight off them. That helps them stand up. |

He is a cutie! |
Sooo cute!!! He looks about Geno's size when he was that age. Geno weighed 2.1lbs I think it was. If you want the ears up, you can tape them. Regardless, his ears are gonna fluctuate from being up and down due to him teething. |
Cooper is adorable! My 1st Yorkie's ears never really stood up only when you spoke to him he would raise them... I have a new Yorkie "Bruiser" born 11-08-11 and his ears are always up...either way they are the cutest little guys! Good luck with Cooper...I loved his pictures! |
Cooper is adorable! |
very cute little guy, you must be over the moon with excitement, taping is a good idea to train a difficult ear to stay up. I am not sure if your puppy has had all his shots but once he had when at Pet Supplies Plus, or one of the pet stores that have a scale at their register (to weigh the bulk treats) ask them to put him on the scale. My girl just turned one and every time I am in one of those stores I ask the person at the register to weigh him, and everytime they say yes, not something most people think about, but easier than always running to the vet. |
PPl on YT were the ones that suggested I trim the hair around CaLi's ears to help the stand up...worked like a charm! As soon as I clipped it back, up they went. You cant tell she likes them lightweight. I also taped them up too for a few days just to help with the cartilage becoming strong. |
He is so cute! |
If you have a digital scale weigh yourself while holding him then yourself alone and take the difference. That's what I do to get my pups weight. PS- He's adorable & welcome! |
He is so darn cute. I live in a small little town and in between vet visits I use to take mine to the post office to be weighed. |

Cooper is so darn cute!! I have a new baby named Jake who was born October 12th. I stood on the scale and then got on with him. The vet will weigh him as well. :) |
Hi All, Took BJ to the vet yesterday for another series of shots ( wow two more times then once a year) they weighed her and she went from 1lb 5 ounces to 1lb 9 ounces yea. Said she was in good shape. Her ears are straight up and have been for weeks. She needs a bath and trim but it is so cold and I don't know how she is going to take to water although when I first got her she waded through her water bowl and kept getting he feet wet which I dried of course. She will be 3 months old Jan.29. Sleeps, eats, plays and uses her Wee Wee Pad. Too cold in Ohio to let her out. I will put picture on soon. It has just been too hard losing my husband 5 days before BJ was born and my little Yorkie Dee Dee a month later. I can't seem to pull out of it. It is just BJ and me. Neighbors nice but have their own lives. Son comes up as much as possible but lives 45 minutes away and works 90 minutes away plus he is a buyer and travels. Miss my husband so much I just stay home unless I have to go out and I take BJ! Took her in Home Depot yesterday, down in my black coat matches her coat lol. Best Wishes to all and your darling little babies. No truer love than from your pet. |
WELCOME! Cooper is adorable... but he really needs to relax a little (4th pic) hahaha :) My Tillie does this and I wish I could get that stretched out and relaxed! |
Hi Cooper, You are so adorable. Im sure you are going to have a wonderful life. |
