Adopting a baby girl yorkie Hi everyone! I just wanted to share that I filled out an application to adopt a 6 month old baby girl yorkie yesterday. I was delighted to see an email from her foster mom saying that there had been many applications for baby Dori yet was leaning towards myself and another person as a potential owner. I will meet the little one this coming Friday! I am praying for a perfect match and that my fur baby Jack falls in love with her as I already have! Fingers crossed!!! I know that Jack can be a little shy with other dogs he does not know so we shall see!!! |
I will keep my fingers crossed that she decides on you. Keep us posted. |
Thank you! I do know that she was rescued by a no kill animal shelter and is staying with her foster mom. Her foster mom said that her quarantine stage will end this coming weekend. I don't know if I should take this as a red flag or if this is something that is done with all dogs that are rescued by no kill shelters... |
Keeping fingers crossed...:goodluck: |
Good luck - I hope you get her!! :D |
Fingers and toes crossed, and adding a little prayer :) |
Aww, thank you guys! An yes a prayer is appreciated! Being that she is being "quarantined", do you think I have anything to worry about? |
I hope and pray you get that baby and what a fun Christmas you will have. I don't know for sure, but my guess is that she was quarantined because she was rescued from a shelter and they probably quarantine them for a certain amount of time just to make sure that if they have anything, it would not be passed on to any other dogs. Hope to hear good news from you soon! |
Aww, thank you Connie! I emailed his foster mom yesterday and she said the same thing you said! Well fingers crossed! I'm counting down the days. I just hope and pray that there is a connection with all of us! |
Sending prayers!! Hope to hear good news soon. :) |
I hope Dori is the perfect match for you and Jack and you get to bring her home! How exciting that will be. Hope they pick you! |
YAY.........how exciting! Keep us posted.......... Sending good thoughts your way!!!! |
Good luck! |
Good luck to you & baby |
Yay!!! We brought baby Dori home today!! We are so excited! Jack was a little shy at first and claimed his "big boy" bed as soon as we got home. 2 hours into it and he is following her around the house and wanting to play! I couldn't be happier :-) Now about her name...thinking I should change it :-) |
I'm so happy for you....sending a big CONGRATS! We need some pictures soon ;) |
Congratulations! I think Dori is a cute name... Jack and Dori... sweet! |

Congrats :) Post pics soon of the two of them :D |

That's great!!! usually the shelters name them and then they may get a new name when they are adopted so it shouldn't be a problem. Love to see pictures. |
Quarantined is nothing to worry about. It just a precaution so that she doesn't have any illnesses that can be passed on to the other pets. Take it as a good sign that the foster family cares enough that they are evaluating her health and protecting the health of any other pets in the home. |
Hey everyone, well yesterday Jack seemed a little interested in her but today Jack wants nothing to do with her. God forbid if I put Dori on our bed while Jack is on there because he jumps to the opposite side of the bed and avoids her like she's the plague. Today she tried following him around but he just hasn't quite accepted her yet. I'm wondering if I made a mistake...Jack has been the only child for 4 1/2 years Yesterday she jumped on him while trying to play and he fought her off ( not aggressively but enough to show her that he didn't want to be bothered). Is this normal? I put their beds next to eachother so that they could get use to one another and yes they did sleep next to each-other today but that's about it, they didn't really interact :-( I hope I didn't make a mistake. |
I think they just need time to figure things out. I am no expert and have never had two dogs at once, but from what I have read on the posts here, time will help them sort out any issues. Congratulations and good luck! |
So, so happy for Dori, Jack and you. |

As long as there is no serious aggression by Jack to Dori you should be fine. Also, don't forget...Jack has claimed his territory for quite a few years and now someone new is here and he hasn't quite understood the concept of sharing or that sharing can be a good thing in the end...a lifetime playmate!;) |
Looking for breeders in NJ or PA I am looking for a good breeder in the Central NJ area or Philaelphia pa. I see costs for a female anywhere from $500 to $4000. I am looking to spend about $1500. Any info you have would be helpful, thanks. |
