Blue is a color, where "blue born" is more of a genetic condition. The gray coloring in a yorkies coat is called blue. That is normal. Yorkies are considered blue and gold, blue and tan, black and tan, black and gold, and now some are chocolate, although not standard, it is not an unhealthy color. Blue borns though have a much higher fatality rate as newborns, and if they do thrive at birth, they can go on to lose a lot of their hair, and have significant skin and health problems. It is rare because no one wants that to happen. If it were rare, but good, the reputable breeders on this board would be breeding blue borns all the ding-dong-day long. Basically, its like two adults getting married that carried genetic markers for a very potentially fatal genetic disease, in the hopes that they would make babies that had the disease. Makes no sense. And just like when something like that accidentally happens, you hope and pray that the child thrives and does well, but most people would never go on to have more children once they know what will happen. |

Holy Cowwwwwww I just caught up on this post. Wow, some of you ladies on here are pretty tough. This was one of the most heated discussions I have read so far. I just have to say though ladies this is the nursery. Even if you agree or disagree this is a section to congratulate the new arrival of beautiful puppies. Getting angry and upset is not going to change the fact that she bred her dog. If you disagree with what she did don't post on her thread post in the general section. If you really feel the need to send her great information that's great but there is no sense in upsetting her or yourselves when she is just trying to share her new family. So to the lady who started this thread, I say congrats and I hope your new family lives a long and happy, healthy life. I am sure when and if you decide to sell them you will be decisive on the new owners and that the puppies will have loving and wonderful homes that will take good care of them throughout there lives weather live long or not. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :p |

Just a point I would like to make!!!! I have been reading all these wonderful posts and it just makes me so proud to come here where people take this breed so seriously. I know some people think they are being attacked when they post pictures and then get positive and NEGATIVE opinions this is a place where people can definetly give their opinions, quite frankly that is the beauty of posting and people need to realize that YorkieTalk is a WEALTH of information, you have a problem people give suggestions and are always there to help. As far as this particular subject has been going is just that, someone decided to post pictures of their "Blue" yorkies something I have never heard of and then received posts regarding concerns for these babies obviously this person is a breeder and knows this color is not normal, which brings me to my point. I looked back at a particular thread that this person had posted I believe it stated "What colors are these babies?" in 2007.So, She was aware last year that this was an unusual color but yet in one of her posts she says she has a 3 and 1/2 year old "Blue" yorkie that was perfectly healthy. If she was aware of this color 3 years ago then why did she start a thread last year asking about this color, and then to top it off she has a NEW litter as well!!!!! |
Rae, Rae U're baby is cute & please don't take this the wrong way it's not directed toward U or U're baby at all. & can I ask what skin conditions U're could have with U're baby? I'm just trying to learn more about this :) I am glad U'res is healthy. I do have to say they all are cute as can be, but to breed for this to me isn't right. All this is just my OPO. But can U tell me that U can 100% guarantee that U're babies of this 7 litter will not loose their coats or have skin problems such as Rae, Raes' has? Is there some sort of testing U do on U're babies to allow U're new adopted parents to know this will not happen to the puppies they adopt from U? Just because it may of not happened yet doesn't mean it won't. As far as U're spay/neuter contracts, not everyone follows them so how can U be insured that others that adopt U're babies will not breed for these colors? If I should ever ever have puppies like this I would have them spayed/neutered before they ever left my home as this is not AKC Standards. CH.Galfreds Stonehaven Zack I went to the site but couldn't find any photos of him, so is these colors through him or who (U're male or female)? I do wish U the best with them all. :) |
