How to put YouTube on your Profile Page

As many of you know, Admin has allowed us to have U-tube on our profile page. Way to go Admin! A few people have asked me how to do this, and maybe this will help clarify how to post a U-Tube Video on your profile page.

After you find a U-Tube video you would like to use, go to "User CP", and then choose "Edit you Details." At the bottom of the page it will say, "YouTube URL" , this is where you must paste the U-tube address, or URL, but it needs to be slightly changed before posting.

You have to do two things; first you have to totally remove the word "watch?" Secondly, you need to replace the "=" with a slash like this "/".
Here's a sample of an address:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFCnvH2E-6A

After you remove the word "watch?" and replace the "=" with a "/". You will have this address:

http://www.youtube.com/v/oFCnvH2E-6A.

Then just title the U-tube and put "&autoplay=1" in the slot provided if you want it to automatically play when someone opens your page. Press "Save Changes" and you're all set. See the picture for more details.

I put a You Tube video/song on my profile page for the Christmas holiday & it worked fine. But then one day, after it had been on my page for a long while, it disappeared. :confused:

Wondering why this happened........are they only good to use for a certain time or did I do something wrong? Curious about this before I try to post another one for Valentines day

U-tube may have taken it down. Unfortunately, U-tube is getting much stricter with its rules, and music with a copywrite is being targeted, this is basically all music. In the past, these videos were safe, unless someone found them and reported them, but now with digital recognition programs, U-tube goes through the files, finds violators, and the video is removed.

Soooooooo, does that mean I can't/shouldn't to this anymore? Lot's of other YTr's still have them on their profiles. Or are you supposed to sign up to be a member on you tube in order to use them? I don't get it.:scratchhe

AlaskaYorkie had the same problem when he tried to post his latest video of Eddie. He had to use canned/elevator music from his mac site.

For those still having trouble, another way to explain this, you remove "watch?v=" and replace with "v/". Don't use quotation marks.

One more thing, although you use the "URL" and not the "embed" address for the profile pages, make sure that the "embed" address does not say, "no embedding allowed" this means that you won't be able to post it on the Yorkietalk profile pages, no matter what you do to the address.

I have a question can videos only be put on our profile page once downloaded to utube? I have a video that I had down loaded to Dropbox.com. from my camera to my computer to dropshots. and I cant find the vidoe that I had saved on cd. Id really like to have this video put on my profile page but Im at a loss at how to do it, I did resave it to my computer from that site but now that I have it I get an error saying I cant open it.that it needs to know what program made it. I did the video from my camera. so I dont know. Im on dial up so that sucks even more. heres the video Im trying to use.

Yorkietalk only accepts U-tube videos. I was able to save your movie, and I have a program that will open that particular movie file, it's a flv file, and U-tube accepts those for upload. You can download a viewer for that type of file here: Riva VX: Riva FLV Player You probably don't need a viewer, to upload the file to U-tube, I uploaded this file type before with no problem. Just make an account at U-tube and upload the file. Once it's on U-tube you can link it on your profile page. There are also several software programs available that will allow you to edit a flv file and add music, but it's probably easier to do it with the original format the movie was saved on. That's a really cute video, let me know if you have any problems uploading it to U-tube.

Yes, Yorkietalk profile pages only work with U-tube.
