where can I find a Chorkie
 

:aimeeyork I saw a Chorkie the other day and fell in love. Does any one out there know where I can find one to purchase or adopt. I would like a puppy or an adult dog no older than 3yrs old, male or female, altered or unaltered. Hope you can help.

I second petfinder.com Search for Yorkie mix or chihuahua mix. I believe that there are no reputable breeders of mixed breed dogs so your best bet is to rescue one.

A Chorkie, how interesting. I have never heard of this mixed breed. Does anyone have a photo to post??

i agree that its best to adopt a pup from a shelter, but depending on your living they usually dont adopt out to people and they "nit pic" too much, trust me i know i volunteer with a group that advertises on petfinder and most shelters turn good homes away. and i do believe that there are GOOD people that breed mix breeds and i dont disagree with breeding them. and the op specifically stated she was looking for that cross and it must be something she likes. SOME people like the mix breeds, thats why they sell. if people didnt like them, people would stop breeding them, but it seems they are popular and they sell.

I assume this is a chi X Yorkie. Because it is a mixed breed, no two of the same mix even in the same litter look alike. So if you get a chi/Yorkie mix it most likely will not resemble the one you think you want, will grow up to look completely different from what you expect.

thats incorrect, if you breed a consist selection you will get an outlook that is identical or very similar.

Not with a mix. I have two litter sisters that are pet grooming clients Yorkie/Maltese mix and they don't look at all alike. One looks like it could very easily pass as a Yorkie the other doesn't at all. One has the traditional Yorkie colour the otehr is solid black with a white blaze on the chest and totally different bodies on them.

i had two, with different parents, but related the pups look alike except for the coloring was a shade different.

i had puppies they mainly looked alike i had to blonde and one dark sable

if i reseach that breed for example on dogster.com most look a like, of course color may very depending on what color the parents are. like using a black pup with a yorkie you will more than likely have dark puppies. now i have seen where they dont look anything like mine, but i think that most of that comes from the breeder and the dog.
most look similar in looks and hair type. but i think that some breeders also dont watch the line enough to know what they are getting. some people dont care, while others do. the breeder i got mine from, all of hers look alike some turn out blonde and some turn out a red color, but their features are always alike.

but yes sometimes you get some that dont look like what you saw somewhere else and personally i think that has a lot to do with lying about what its mixed with, or omitting something about the parents

There is no lines in mixes, they are mixes of two or more breeds. You take the mix breed them and you will still get anything. The result of a mix can produce either end of the bell curve in what it looks like and everything in between. As a professional pet dog groomer for 16 years most clients have mixed breeds about 95% of my business. No two cockapoos looked a like in appearance size or coat type. That is just one mix example.
There was a guy selling pups on line that were puggles, beagle pug crosses. The whole litter of 4 could have passed for beagles.

Mixed breed litters are never consistent. There mght be a typical look that is more prevalent with a certain mix, but I work in a grooming salon/dog boutique and see these "designer dog" mixes all the time. We have several dogs of the same mix that come in and they all look different from each other. I have nothing against mixed breed dogs, and I think a lot of them are adorable, but I think it is very wrong to breed mixed breed dogs. When you breed purebred dogs, you should breed to improve the breed in some way and to breed for a purpose. With mixes there is not a standard to breed to and there is no improving the breed because it's a mix and not a breed. There is no purpose in breeding mixed breed dogs other than to contribute to the pet overpopulation. People that breed these mixes aren't breeding for a reason - they are breeding them because these dogs are popular and they can make money of of them right now. I hate this whole "designer dog" fad honestly and don't like the names people come up with for them. I think people should call them what they are. If someone wants a mix, they should adopt from a rescue or the shelter because so many of these "designer dogs" are ending up in shelters.

As you can see, there is a wide range of looks

yeah u never know what you will get. Looking at these pics it makes me think what people had to go through to develop different breeds in the past, example: how many different lookes did someone got to what we know today as a Yorkie... How do you get to the point where the variety of the chorkie stops and you just get one standard...

We always say and think, no reputable breeder would do that, but someone did just that in the past to come up with some of the breeds we love today. I wonder at what point do you accept a new breed of dog in this day and age.

Back in the day I bet one man just fancied another mans dog and brought it, just like people do today with these hybrids and the more people like them the more they breed them...

I hope this makes sense but i was just thinking and thought i would post my thoughts on this subject.

this post was about a pup this person wanted and should not have gone in to the subject of "to mix or not to mix" and though i feel very stronly on that subject i wont continue, and disrupt the orginal subject. i think the sell andhigh demand of "designer pups" says enough
