Did you need DNA to register Izzie with AKC? For so many years, AKC has stood firm on the color, I am surprised they have changed.
We have to have send in the same information to register out of County Show Dogs, Canadian etc. Interesting what is being done with colors.

No, I didn't need to send in DNA, althougth they have that in their records regarding the father. I was shocked that they would register her. It only mattered to me that her littermate sisters were able to be registered and I thought she should've been too...LOL I, personally would never breed for this color and didn't want Izzie to be bred by someone else, not only because of her color, but her size. I am so grateful to God that Izzie is with the family she is. She is soooo loved!! :)

I can't remember which site it was, but once while searching for yorkies I saw a couple of chocolate yorkies(male and female) that were going to have a litter. Keep looking and good luck in your search :)

I must say that most replies have been very positive because Izzy is beautiful. It wasn't that long ago that I was blasted for even suggesting that I wanted a chocolate, blond, and red yorkie because they weren't the AKC standard and how dare I even think about breeding for such colors. I have a raven black one that came from one of our litters but the thing is, all four pups were dark and still are at almost a year old. Daddy is almost white he is so light and mama is tan/black, but the daddy has also sired the standard color of tan/blue as well as very light like himself. Biewers didn't just happen and AKC didn't recognize them for a long time. It's good to hear that Izzy was registered as a chocolate/tan yorkie. There may be hope for those of us who want to see more colors recognized by AKC.

I agree with you Linda.
It is only a matter of time before the other colors are accepted. Parti's were never registered and now they are able to be akc registered just as chocolates are. Before long, they will have a standard set for these colors.
If they are no health problems associated with these colors, which there are no health problems with them, the color posses no health risks, so why not have them?? It is just like the size of the yorkie. They use to be alot bigger and then people bred them smaller, which at that time was not the standard. The standard changed in size and I really believe the colors will too. I don't believe they will accept every color, but I do believe the will add a few of these colors to the standard, it is just a matter of time. JMO

What a beautiful yorkie, I really like the choc ones... I think the $3500 price tag is because of the combination of color & size. If she was a 5lb, and I had a 3-4 grand just laying around...

that's way too much they shouldn't be priced any higher than any other colour yorkie! anyways i msg you a few days ago and told you that the breeder i got my princess from had 3 chocolates in my princess's litter. they only have 2 dogs they are ckc and were $500 i can send you her info if you want. they are in marianna fl but these aren't the smaller or tinys here's pics from princess's litter. my princess was the runt black n gold of the litter.

I read Registered but, Registered with AKC??
AKC only has 4 different color pairs, none Chocolate.

Is your dog AKC or CKC registered????

akc won't reg a chocolate yorkie unless it's marked a diff colour like the black & gold or blue & gold or black & tan "i think"

awww they are so cute, how much would a choc. female be? And how big will she get? I am looking for one that will be 5lb or less cause I live in an apt.

she was 1lb 9 oz at 6 weeks
well mine turned out to be 9lbs she's a bigger girl but they were $500 i didn't know anything about yorkies before i bought her though and didn't know anything about chocolates or sizes but my princess has turned out beautiful she's the long haired one on my avatar .
