Yorkie puppy wanted in NJ area
 

I am looking for a Yorkie puppy in the NJ area. Orginally wanted a female pup since I have a female Shih Tzu, my baby: Jazzy. However, after reading all the positives about the male babies, I am now considering either. I am willing to travel to get the puppy, so any area within a reasonable driving distance will be fine. I am looking for a tiny baby that will be maximum of 5 lbs at maturity.

Did you look at the other posts with the 3 males for sale in Indiana??

Thanks everyone for the replies. I have contacted Stacy and we had a nice conversation on the phone this AM. Even though Stacy was so tired from staying up all night with her baby Katie, who is due to deliver tomorrow, she was so nice and very informative. I liked her right away. I have filled out the application and am waiting to see what happens.
I also checked out topknotchyorkies but there is only 1 available Yorkie pup at this time and she is larger than what I am looking for.
I did see the post for the puppies from Indiana but after my recent scam experience, I want to get a puppy locally that I can meet the owners, see the mom & dad and go to get my puppy in person. I am certainly NOT saying that the post regarding the puppies from Indiana is a scam. But since my recent experience with trying to get puppies shipped to me, I am very gun shy and do not want to go that route right now.

Just so you know the woman who has "topknotch yorkies" is a broker. She gets her yorkies from a breeder in South America so you wouldn't be able to see the puppy's parents. Good luck in your search! :)

WOW!!!!!!! I did not know that. I am getting a real education in trying to get a Yorkie puppy.Topknotchyorkies was recommended to me from this site! I hate to say it, but no wonder so many people just buy from pet stores or kennels!!! Puppies from So America----I do not mean to be critical but how does anyone know that they are not puppy mill puppies??? Don't mean to be judgemental but So America is NOT known for up front and honest business transactions! I am an adoptive parent of internationally adopted children (who are now young adults and the joy of my life) but even 24 years ago when we were first looking into adoption, we heard many horror stories about the less than honest adoption practices occuring in So America. And that was regarding babies--lord knows what they will do with animals!!!!!
Thank you so much for this information. I was seriously considering topknotchyorkies, but they did not have any Yorkies available exempt one rather large female Yorkie. Her weight on the websit was much lower than what her picture portrayed--I wondered why, but now it makes sense.
I was going to continue to contact topknotchpupiesor any future puppies. Thanks for the heads up. I now can delete them from my list. Thanks again.

Oh my goodness, I thought someone would have scooped him up by now! What's a 14 hour car ride for the cutest little puppy in the world? I really should have flown into Atlanta picked up Sherman and turned right around and fly home. I would have saved at least 10 hours!

You really shouldn't! She does get some of her yorkies from Brazil and she knows the breeders personally because she visits. Her puppies are not puppy mill dogs. She just recently updated her new page but she did have pics of herself in Brazil visiting her breeders. My Jazzy is a topknotch yorkie and I wouldn't go anywhere else to get another Yorkie. A lot of people on this sight like to put her down because she's a broker which she clearly states but all brokers are not bad. I have been to here home more than once and I can tell you you would not be disappointed in the way she runs her operation. I am glad I dealt with her and nobody else. So many people on this site have a topknotch and not ONE has complained about her!

It is ironic because this past Sunday I was at Smithville Village for their Octorberfest and ran into a lady with an adorable yorkie that she got from Top Notch Yorkies, she seemed pleased with Top Notch. However was buying her 2nd Yorkie puppy from another breeder--she did not say why, nor did I ask.
When I read the post about the puppies being from another country, I took it as a warning. After my recent stupidity with trying to get a puppy from another country, I am gun shy about any puppies coming from out of North America.

Went back and edited my post for spelling errors but, did miss the mistake in the last sentence of my post. I meant to say: I am guy shy about puppies coming from "anywhere, OTHER THAN, North America.

I have a morkie (maltese - yorkie) from Susan's Top Knotch pups and he is from Brazil. Susan went to Brazil recently and visited her breeder, who she already knows, so yes she does know what she's getting and the requirements and quarantine s are even more stringent when they are from out of our country! My little guy's name is Harry and he will be a year old 11/2/2006. He is the most amazing little man! Susan's dogs are impeccable, he is very sweet and very socialized! My vet was very impressed with the amount of printed information and instructions I was provided with him. I think a broker has a lot more time to spend with the pups, she's not busy with the breeding and she chooses her litters from people she has been working with for a while. She also has someone always holding them, playing with them, or just curled up on a lap for some tv. I have a 2 yr old maltese, Maggie, purchased from a breeder and while I love her dearly, she is not socialized, and very neurotic and it will be a long road to try to fix her obsessions. When I went to get her, she was being kept away from other dogs and treated like a child. This is very sweet, but it does not lead to a well socialized or happy dog. When my sister-in-law saw Harry, she bought a shorkie from Top Knotch within a month. His name is Jake and he is also a very socialized little guy. I am extremely proud of owning one of Susan's pups. And if I thought I had enough hands for a third dog, I would be at Top Knotch tomorrow for a dog (I babysat Jake for a week and realized I just don't have the energy for three dogs - they didn't want to sleep, just played constantly!) Harry is the one in the center, his top knotch name was ryker.

Here's the thing....Susan says she's been there but have you? Have you seen the living conditions of these yorkies or are you taking her word for it as you give her a whole bunch of your money for a cute little puppy? And what about the poor mother that he's ripped away from so Susan can take him to her live at her home without his mother for a few weeks before she turns around and charges you a whole bunch of your money for him. The problem is we don't want to think about all that ugliness when we're looking at a cute picture of a puppy, it makes us uncomfortable and we'd rather not have to deal with it. So when the broker tells us they're not from a mill and that she loves these little puppies so much and that no one would buy them if she didn't sell them for the breeder, we want to believe her because well she's so nice!

You say there are plenty of bad breeders out there and you have to trust someone? Well no one here is recommending bad breeders we're recommending reputable breeders of which there are plenty! Lucky for us some very knowledgable members have told us what to look for in a reputable breeder and what questions to ask!

I can only speak from my experience, and Harry (purchased from Top Knotch) was from Brazil. I wasn't allowed to have him until 16 weeks. This was because he wasn't allowed to be shipped from Brazil until 12 weeks. So your "ripped from the mommy" comment really irritates me, since this is exactly what happens when breeders sell too early in the States, where there is no regulation as to when he can be shipped and sold! I had to wait for quarantine and vet exams! When I purchased my maltese, Maggie, from a breeder, who allowed her to be sold at 11 weeks (if your knowledgable, you know 12 weeks is the recommended time, and since she was pick of the litter, (the breeder only had a male Maltese, she breeds Yorkies), which means she removed her from the mother too early. Maggie, at 2 years old, already had to have a luxating patella operation, and will need the other knee done eventually, and this is from a reputable breeder. Harry, God bless him, is as healthy as a horse! It is evident in the two dogs, Harry is very socialized and happy go lucky. Maggie is skittish, with many issues, which I really believe is from being removed from her mom too early. Dogs are bought for breeding purposes from other countries all the time. How do we know what results they will produce in this country? With internet breeders, dogs are shipped all over the country, a lot younger than Harry was when he was sent from Brazil. And inside this country, there are no quarantine or mandatory vet exams, so I think the regulations Susan has to abide by provides us with more protection than inside the states. I really didn't care where Harry was from, he was just such a cute little guy, and her paperwork was impeccable, so I felt very comfortable purchasing from her. There is also not a cage in the house, the puppies are kept in walled areas (2 ft. walls) with there own play areas. I think anyone who visits her setup, will be very impressed. She is not afraid of you coming back either, evident by the reunions she holds (huge party) and all of the other functions she sponsors at the farm (doggie training, grooming, etc.). I am not related to Top Knotch, I happened onto her ad in the Atlantic City Press. Then I found her website, and since my purchase and experience, my sister-in-law bought a shorkie and my friend went to get a puggle. Even if you don't buy, a visit is well worth your time if you love dogs! (be forewarned, you won't be able to resist). P.S Susan did not just say "she's been there" She was there and came back with many, many photo's which she posted on her website.

Bottom line she's a broker and reputable breeders do not sell to brokers. I stand by what I said. As for your maltese, obviously you have issues with that breeder so suffice it to say she wasn't a reputable breeder. A visit to Susan's would not be worth my time because I disagree with what she does and how she makes her living no matter how cute the puppies are.

And that's TOTALLY YOUR OPINION!!! Regardless of where she got her puppies from they are being Well taken care of now! Just because YOU wouldn't get your pup from her don't down talk her or her business because she definetly does not deserve that!! I am not a new member and I looked for my yorkie for a year and I could not find one breeder that I trusted more than I trusted Susan. She has a WONDERFUL reputation as a BROKER and for somebody who does not know jack squat about her or hasn't even been to her place to even check her out regardless of what YOU believe in brokers is real UGLY! And how would YOU know reputable breeders wouldn't sell to a broker how many reputable breeders do you know personally off hand! Just because you go by what you hear on here does not mean people are truthful and if a breeder trust someone else enough to sell their dog then why not that does not make what they are doing bad. This whole bashing of brokers is ridiculous! There are tons of breeders who aint worth a nickle nor would I think about purchasing a puppy from them. I don't care how Reputable one is doesn't make them God Sent to the puppy world!!! Now I stand by what I just said!!

Honeybrown, I couldn't have said it any better! I think this is just a jealous breeder and not worth the time it takes to respond. Once your part of the Top Knotch family, you can't help but love how she's running her business. She has an excellent collection of pups without being a puppy mill. I actually went to get a Maltese (as far as her comment about the breeder I chose for Maggie, the breeder I chose was not only well established, but had a great reputation, she was just too busy breeding to give the dogs the attention Susan does) and wound up with a morkie (he picked us). I read about the breeds for a year and also searched for another year before purchasing both my dogs. I already had Maggie and wanted a playmate for her. If I had the energy, I would be back for one of her Yorkies too. As you know, once you visit her, you wind up with more than one dog! And your Jazzy is gorgeous, made me want another pup. So the question is , how long before you get another (lol).

No, I'm not jealous, nor am I a breeder. I'm just a person who cares about dogs and I just can't let these posts go unchecked.
It disturbs me to think that anyone on this yorkie forum would promote a broker let alone the lengths you people have gone to promote this particular one. Outside of Honeybrown, the posts are from new members. The bottom line is this reputable breeders do not sell their puppies to brokers because they care too much about the well being of their dogs and want to know the people who are buying their puppies. Reputable breeders sell with a spay/neuter contract. Reputable breeders guarantee the health of the puppy for 1 year. Reputable breeders will take back the dog if the new owner can not keep the dog no matter what the age because they care about the dogs that they breed.

Hmmm. I got a guarantee and I signed a contract when I picked my pup up. I can also give her back no questions ask. Matter of fact it states in the contract I am to give her back and not sell her...but brokers don't do that huh? Please people like I have said ALL BROKERS ARE NOT BAD! I stand by everything I've said on here!

Please i've been on YT for a minute..I've always spoken Highly of Susan since i've gotten my Jazzy which was back in February. I've also reffered her to dozens of people here on YT. I haven't had ONE complaint!! If a broker or breeder is being downplayed anywhere of course the people who have bought from her and had a good experience are going to speak up for her. I just don't get the point of people not knowing anything about her or her business or the way she runs it continue to run off at the mouth about her being this bad evil broker!!

Look, different strokes for different folks. This lady obviously does not sell sick puppies, despite her being a broker. She is not like Jeff Dane of www.yorkiepup.com who sells SICK SICK puppies for upwards of $10,000 each. As long as she is not being unethical, who cares if someone wants to purchase a pup from her?
