Is there anybody who has a puppy for free or under 300 dollars. I am willing to drive and if you have more I have friends who want to buy also. I have wanted a yorkie since i was a little girl and the one time I try to buy one I get scammed. so if there is anybody out there that can help me or no somebody who can help me please contact me at ldf0829@mail.ecu.edu. Our daughter hubby and kids are moving there to NC in June, their trying to talk us into it, but at our age we're like an antique it's hard to make a move like that. Beautiful country there, although I don't think we could adjust to the mosquitos and humidity. Have a nice day. Patti and ~~Baby Blessing~~ |

I think you'd adjust to our climate. What area of NC are they moving to? This area around here is a hot spot for retirees these days. New Bern was mentioned on Good Morning America last year as a great place to retire and play golf or something like that and all the northerners are buying up the houses like crazy. Anyway, good luck on your search for a baby girl. We have one girl, but she has a new momma already, a member here named Marhat is her going to be her new mommy. Kim |
Thanks to a YT member I was able to buy my yorkie I can fully understand the plight of wanting something and not having the money to fully pay for it I have been there. However, I happend to be looking for a puppy for sale and came across a yorkie for a very very reasonable price right on this site. I called the Yt member and asked was this a joke and she said no it was not. All I can say is that I was truly blessed that she decided to let this yorkie come home with me. This is to say that yes you can buy a healty Yorkie for a reasonable price not always but sometimes. I was just blessed she is a wonderful person and her puppie is a delight. Thank you my blessed spirit and thank you for the wonderful YT member who helped me. Ps he did come with AKC papers...If I ever do breed I will fast forward and do the same that she has done for me... |
That Jerk! I had seen one of his adds online too...he said send Western union...I ran the other way immediatley!....Common sense people! |
I am so sorry you were scammed. There have been alot of people on here that were looking at the Nigeria ads for a puppy. You might want to try to adopt a rescue. Good luck with your search |
Hi there and welcome to YT. I am in Greenville as well and a grad of ECU...GO PIRATES!! I don't know that you will find one quite that cheap, but have you checked the Bargain Trader magazine? Also, some of the rescue sites...I know some affiliates of YTNR...they have some cuties!! I will keep my eyes open for you and PM me if you'd like to chat or want some more advice. My girl is a rescue/rehome and my male is a rehome and I couldn't love them more!! |
Ohhhh, I almost forgot...there is a petfinder ad listed in the petfinder classifieds for a yorkie in NC...states he is on meds right now but will be fine. Minimal adoption fee. I will pm the number to you if I can find it again. There was a post on YT about it... |

Sorry Hon...I dont' want to rain on your parade. Be very wary of sending anyone cash via western union. If you do still want to buy look around locally so you can see what you are going to get and see how the dog is cared for. Good luck. |
you should look into some yorkie rescue groups. |
Scams????? Intrestingly enough also, i have seen plenty of these...Im a college student looking for a free Yorkie..... I dont know...Yorkies can be a little pricey...I doubt anyone gives them out for free....if so let me know! Cause i have paid a pretty penny for all of mine. |

Hey :) I was a college student once.. but what I did instead of looking for a free or really inexpensive yorkie.. I saved a lot of money and waited till i could afford the perfect yorkie and i did!... it took a lot of time, but i think it's the same thing if your trying to look for a free yorkie :D ... i think what you should do is save up some money aside for your yorkie again and this time since you know a little bit more now about those nigerian scams you won't get scammed.. if you could save $2,000 once, you can do it again :) best of luck to you. |
Free is rare, you even have to pay for rescues. I would check with rescue groups in your area. Isn't Admin doing something where YT is raising $$$ for the united yorkie rescue? You could probably find a pup thru that thread! Good luck. |
Hehehe...very true...thats why that college add sounds strange to me! |

I kinda agree, even though I hate to say it. Wait til you have time for that baby. Going to school is rough enough, let alone trying to potty train, groom, care for, and spoil, through out the day. |
I hate to be negative as well, but this hopefully will be taken as informative rather than negative :) Though I paid a relatively reasonable price for Topher, and his health is excellent (thank heavens), I've paid more in vet bills in the past four months than what I initially put out to purchase him. And these aren't bills for illnesses...just bills for shots, regular check-ups, neutering, (oh, and one accidental stubbed toe that cost us $250.00!...his toe is fine now :)) So the initial cost of the pup isn't the most important money that you have to come up with...it's the money for the good, ongoing veterinary care that follows for the next 15 plus years! (with all of those litte unfortunate emergencies that usually come with the territory) I hope this doesn't upset you, but helps you to understand that alot goes into raising these babies....and the financial part is a big one! |
Keylabelle, I recommend you wait until your life is a little more settled before taking on the responsibility of a Yorkie. Nothing personal, but I don't know ANY college students with the time, money, housing, etc. who are able to properly take care of these little ones. I know I wasn't ready for it at that time in my life. Oh--and the costs--the initial purchase price is just a small FRACTION of what you will be spending on a Yorkie. There are so many other expenses. my advice: WAIT |
You know when I first started looking I ran across two seperate people in different areas of NY that were trying to resell yorkies. It seems that in the first case the son had purchased one in his junior year of college and come senior year couldn't take care of the dog and his parents ended up having to take it in. The second case the daughter of the person was given the dog by her boyfriend and with everything going on and getting ready to do an internship she also couldn't keep the dog. So from what I have seen and honestly what I know of just generally rearing a puppy I think that a busy college student would be doing him/herself and the dog a disservice by getting one. College is full of hard work and changing schedules to think you are going to be able to give the right amount of attention to anything other than your studies. |
I agree with you all. I had to help take care of my daughter's yorkie because she was in college and between school and working she was never home. When she finally moved into her own appartment recently - I was totally taking care of her yorkie. Don't get me wrong - I really liked the guy, but not my choice - one too many males then here. We ended up selling him to a retired couple and now he his spoiled every day! :D T. |
I kind of disagree with yall..there are plenty of college students on this forum (myself included) that own yorkies and do it wonderfully so the stereotyping isn't very fair. I make sure that the time I spend at home, I spend with Cali playing and running around. And when I go run errands around town, she comes with me and she loves it. Yes, I have to go to classes for a couple of hours in the morning and I sometimes have to work at nights, but what the difference between that and someone who has a job and is gone from 8-5? So just because someone is a "college student" doesn't mean that they'll be horrible yorkie owner..IMHO |

Cali is very fortunate to have a caring mamma that has a full plate that still finds time to love and spoil her. |
I am sorry that you got scammed, thanks to YT I did not fall for the same trick. I hope you find a puppy. |
