This is very true, and if that show dog needs a pro, you would be expected to arrange and pay for a pro handler. |
Mardelin makes a good point. PartPixie - are you wanting a pet that you think looks like a show dog? Or are you looking for a show prospect? That is why I suggested just calling the breeders to explain what you are looking for, but your posts are confusing. |

All I asked for is a little baby girl. I know these breeders have the best reputation for beautiful, healthy well bred dogs. I have had yorkies in my life for 26 yrs. Had 2 from great breeders and 1 from pet store and one from ad in paper. Vickilyn was highly recommended by my groomer/friend Barb. All I want is a healthy, happy well bred baby to spoil and share my life with.:) |

Believe you me the really experienced ones, notice everything. What shape you bring your Yorkie into the grooming area. How you interact with your dogs, how you train, how you groom. How you interact with all and sundry. The questions you ask, the questions you don't ask. How your dog matures under your care. The advice you follow or (don't). The handlers you use. When they met you at breeding seminars, or in the training ring, they notice. To receive a top quality dog, one has to pay their dues on a number of fronts. Quite simply why wouldn't a breeder keep the "best" of their "best" for themselves to show, and breed? If one is very very lucky, in a litter there maybe two such dogs. Or two out of two litters. |
Thanks everyone, I am very excited, and have prolly bugged Vickilyn enough! ;) |

Yes, actually I am very aware of that and am fortunate enough to be in a postion that a handler is not an unreasonable expense. I just hope to be able to do it myself.;) |

Well said, their is nothing sweeter than a Yorkie!! I can't wait to bring home another new baby to love. I just gotta figure out how to tell the older yorkie sisters that their will be a new baby in the house. hehe |

Really....that makes so much sense! I recently lost a precious yorkie and these 2 spent so much time looking for her and I think they were mourning. I want this transition to be as uneventful and smooth as can be expected. They are both seniors, one is 7 and the other is almost 10.I do know they both accept other little dogs in our house for visits or overnight stays but to sleep with us permanently...well I'm sure thats a different story. I will certainly do that though as it sounds like a great way to introduce the baby to our family. |

I worked with a Canine Behaviorist/Breeder/Exhibitor....learned a lot from her. She said the first thing you have to do is think like a dog....not attempt to make the dog human...... |
Really ....so when my yorkie passed away, what should I have done or said to the other 2 to make things easier for them. I cried every time and still do when my Mattie looks for Molly under the couch, in her bed etc. I cant even talk about it much to anyone never mind them. My Mattie still looks so sad..... |
