I'm always vague until I've established a relationship with a "client" not customer. Not because I have too many breeding dogs. But, because of Animal Rights Activists and those that are of unscrupulous personalities. There are those that are known to just wait to either rob a house or lay in wait to enter a home to take dogs. One can't be too careful.

I'm sorry if it appears that way. Because in reality...I have no problems with you or anyone on this site. But I will stand up for someone I think is being bullied, or for something I love and believe in.

It is the message I have a problem with and how you flip flop it around to suit your purpose and agenda. You tell people who may purchase their pups from pet or hobby breeders that vagueness and too many breeding dogs are major RED FLAGS. Anyone who will not answer your questions obviously has something to hide. Don't walk..but run the other way. We have all heard it over and over again. And that is more often then not...good advice.

However, the problem I have is you contradict yourself when it comes to a YTCA breeder who was not forth coming about her dogs and her breeding program. But you defended her, and actually grasped at reasons for her being coy and secreative. You can't have it both ways.

That's just the YTCA attitude. They are good breeders and mean well, just come across very ruff.

And where was I bulling this person, I was explaining to her what could have been the breeders reasoning of not revealing the number of dogs she had.

For your information though I may be a member of the YTCA, but my mentor isn't.....several of my mentors aren't

Excuse me! YTCA isn't an attitude. And no where did I come off ruff. My words were twisted as to mean something that wasn't stated. That I was condoning vagueness.....

But, it does appear there are those that have a problem with YTCA. But, whether one likes it or not, they are the Yorkshire Terrier Governing Club.

This is what we use for ARA and thieves. Fila Brasiliero and an Anatolian Shepard.(they luv there Yorkies) "Can we help U?" they do an awsome job!

I'm confused, where has Mardelin attacked anyone, and what issues has she been flip flopping on? She has been very consistent in her replies, and has recommended many times that a breeder should build a relationship with the client. For puppy buyers. she often reminds us that we are buying a breeder first, and a lifetime relationship. I seriously have never read her or anyone say, "Vagueness and too many breeding dogs are major RED FLAGS." I have read her say that 5 females are needed for a serious breeding program, because some pet owners think that is an excessive number. Her advice is very consistent; "Get to know your breeder!" I wish more breeders would listen to her and get to know their "customers."

Yes it is .. as well as all the health screening and checks you do prior to breeding your dogs.

Filas yes. The Anatolian is a LGD Livestock gaurdian dog. She lives in the pastures with our horses,mini cows and chickens.

No disrespect ma'am.It is an awsome standard. U do not have to be on the list to be a good breeder though.Attitude is attidude, nothing wrong with it

I agree! And ANY breeder who will not be honest about their dogs and their breeding practices should not be defended just because they belong to a certain club.

I agree, rules should be the same whether or not you are in a club, but I do believe you are blowing this out of proportion, the breeder said something about downsizing, and when asked how many she had she said "too many." I'm sure lots of breeders think that at times, and probably a few pet owners! Sometimes, it does seem like people love to pick out any flaw a member of the YTCA has and pounce on it. On one hand, people are so angry because the club is so picky and won't let them in, and on the other hand, they criticize it because one of the members do or say something they don't like. The purpose of the club is not to sell puppies it has nothing to do with that; it's to persevere, protect, and improve the breed. It's filled with humans and humans are flawed, but it's still the best protection the Yorkshire Terrier has.

Welcome! I don't know if your still around but if your still looking I would like to wish you good luck in your search and to also let you know that the Admin of Yorkie Talk has offered a wonderful section here for Yorkie Talk members to post their puppies for sale. You may find a wonderful breeder right here on YT.
(always be sure to do your research on the breeder you choose no matter where you find them :))

Good luck again and I hope you will post more and show pictures of your new baby when you find him or her! :)
