I would worry if you did not spay her before rehoming her. Many times holding back papers with a spay agreement does nothing to insure they actually follow through. They just don't bother to register the litter or use one of the registries that register any dog.

:thumbup: This is how I feel. If you rescue a dog you can't expect to get back what you paid. You have to chalk it up to doing a good thing and being happy that the dog has found a good home. Selling her UNFIXED will only increase the chances of her once again ending up in a bad situation. As far as cost of spaying goes. There are MANY places in which it will cost no more then $125.00 tops. I live in NJ and the Humane Society does it for $90.00. In my eyes if you rescue you finish it to the end and that means spaying before placing. Just my .02. Elaine

You are absolutely right. The top show breeders rehome their adult champions for the cost of updating shots and spaying/neutering which is always done before they are placed. $500 is good ballpark figure for those dogs.

You did a good thing by rescuing her, but don't expect to get your money back.

Gigi has found a home
 
Gigi has found a home here locally so I will be able to see her and she will also now be one of my grooming clients so she has been placed in a great home..She went to a lady who already has another female yorkie..I told her about yorkietalk so maybe we will be hearing from her on here too..

I am so glad Gigi found a home. And that you will be seeing her on a regular basis. She is very pretty.

I was disappointed..Cindy stated that I could have Gigi and she still sold it to someone else..I am really hurt...Why would someone do that. I offered 250.00 for Gigi and Cindy stated that she could not accept 250.00 but if I could pay 300.00 she would take it...I emailed her back and stated Originally Posted by smitette

I am just dumbfounded....Why would someone do that?? I was so excited only to be told that she sold Gigi out from under me...She is the one that suggested the 300.00..I offered 250.00 and she stated that she could not take 250.00 but if I put 50.00 more with that I could have her...I wanted Gigi so bad for Cookie and me...I was looking forward to having a new baby in the house and now I feel so depressed..
I apologize for "ranting" I guess that it what I am doing but I just cannot believe that this happened. I would never do that to anyone...Get their hopes up and pop their balloon. She is the one that stated that she would take 300.00. I would have just dropped the whole thing if she had not made that counter offer...:(

maybe the other person offered her more money? if that is the case, she could have given you the opportunity to counter? IDK, just specualting. i am sorry you lost out on this baby :(

Thanks....Yes, the other person offered 400.00. I am upset because she knew that I wanted Gigi and she was still looking to sell her to someone else...I would never do that to someone else...I guess that it takes all kinds to make the world go around. Also, I thought that another YT member would not do this to one of their own... I know that we will survive...I just feel that we have been slapped in the face:(

I did agree to take 300.00 and the money was not an issue or else I would not have agreed. We were pming on Yt. I got that response that you might could do 300.00 that was great then I pmed you that I was getting off to go do some things waited 30 minutes or so never heard a reply so I went to the dog park(( accidently)) meet someone there who wanted Gigi and was willing to pay 400.00 in my mind she was still mine and still for rehoming since I had not heard back from you ,,,so I did what anyone else would do I sold her locally and now can see her when I want to ..I am sorry if you did not answer back to me but I wasnt sure by your pms what you intended to do..You never pmed me while I was online waiting to hear from you...I also sent you my phone number to call me,,,which you didnt do untill much later after I had left the house so probally by the time you called she was already gone I dont know I didnt get your message till I got home...Hope you find cookie a friend but you should have confirmed you did want her and she would still be here...

I refuse to get into a knock down drag out over this..You private messaged me at 10:13 and I emailed my husband to see when we could come get Gigi(He was not at his desk when I called). He replied back to me at 10:50 and I called you and there was no answer so I left a message, I also sent you a private message at 10:55. I thought that we had agreed that I would take her...If I did not think that I could come up with the 300.00 I would have emailed you as before and said thanks but that it was too much....

I waited online for about 25-30 minutes never heard back from you so I left my house and god sent that lady Gigis way..I will not be part of your Drama..I have no reason to defend myself so I not going to say this anymore except you should have called me..I told you I was getting offline and thats what I did..As soon as I said that I waited a few more minutes then I did what I said I was going to do I got up and got started with other things..Thats my last reply to this post..I do hope though that you find a baby friend for your cookie..Have a great day...

it sounds to me that you did not have a firm, agreement with the girl that wanted to pay 300. She said she "might" could do that. you have done nothing wrong and you were under no obligation to sell her for 300 under a "might". i hope you get to see lexi often.
