she looks so sweet.... |
Aww i hope she finds a good home |
At the risk of hurting your feelings, or getting bashed I have to ask, How can you have a dog for 5 years, use her for a bitch, and then get rid of her? Was there no feelings? |

Oh my gosh, I just read some postings here and want to add something to this thread. Jill Brooks is one of the most caring, loving ladies here on YT and as a breeder she always has as her top concern in placing her yorkies. Years ago, after we lost Cassie, I wanted to get a yorkie from Jill and her concern was in flying one at that time beings it was winter and I had several conversations with her and came to understand that this lady is one breeder that puts her babies first. Jack and I was so very happy that when Prairie Bea came to be, our daughter was able to fly from North Carolina to Indiana and to us here in Calif. Jill went totally out of her way with all the arrangements at our convenience to get Prairie Bea, I just want those here to know how blessed we were through Jill's caring to get Prairie Bea and the contact with her afterwards. I am not posting this thread to cause any discussion about what others feel about a breeder placing one from their breeding program, but just want to say, Jack and I truely know how fortunate the family will be that gets Emma. Thanks Jill for being the lady you are and I want to say Prairie Bea has really brought so many smiles into our lives, especially Jack, I think she taught him how to smile all over again. Truely, I am serious when I say that. I know Emma will go to a very special home just as she is parting from one. Hugs, Patti and Jack and Girls. |
It wasnt my intent to bash the poster, I just have a hard time understanding how as much as I love my dogs, (like children) how you can part with them after 5 years. The dog in the picture is very cute, but didnt look like a show dog, so as pet quality, which means they are your pet, it just is difficult for me to grasp. |
She is beautiful. She looks so much like my Kaya. If my h wasn't unemployed I think I would be running to get her. I love her name, too. :) |
To be a breeder is to be able to make great sacrifices. Breeders cannot keep everyone, they have to make the sacrifice from their heart to let some go at some point otherwise they would be overwhelmed and the dog would not get their care it deserves. I do not know Jill but I know the sacrifices I have made. No vacation our vacation is a dog show. On call 24/7. Placing a dog when you have the dogs best interest at heart and not your own. I am sure it hurts her to place a dog after owning her for 5 years. I have a girl I have been interviewing for new homes for about a year. She is retired, its hard and we had thought we had found the home it was a great home indeed but it wasn't the right time for the person who had wanted her. And so far I still haven't found another home like that home so I haven't placed her. I may never place her but if the right home would come up I would suck it up and let her go. Its about whats best for her first and foremost. Jill has had her spayed and her dental etc. she is doing it right! Best of luck Jill, I know exactly how hard it is. |
As a new owner of a retired mom (3 years old) from a VERY reputable breeder, I hope Emma finds a nice home. Leia, who's been with me for less then a week) has done very well. I appreciate the exceptional way caring breeders make efforts to find good homes for their dogs. |

I'm sure this may stir the pot and I really don't mean for that to happen but I have to ask those that are posting; To be a good breeder aren't you suppose to breed to better the breed? While this girl is beautiful, she certainly does not portray the breed standard. So how come some get praise whether they breed to better to better the breed or not and others get slammed for breeding a dog out of standard. I'm just not understanding this and I don't mean to hijack this gal's post. Although I would not be able to and still can't understand (Whether being responsible or not) that someone could part with a dog after 5 yrs. of being a member of their family, I do hope she finds a great loving home. In closing I would just like to say that I hear about responsibility and sacrafice etc, and doing what's best for the dog yet has anyone put any thought into how this 5 yr. old dog must feel being rehomed after spending all this time with someone they felt was their family and not to mention the loss they will feel leaving their fur friends. Just my .02. Best of luck in finding her a great forever home. Elaine |
I am not getting into judging this girl as far as breed standard etc. I am glad to see she is being placed after being spayed, but as a breeder I can say you can't keep them all wether you are a show breeder or just breeding. Not everyone shows that breeds. It is still a choice of course soon there may be no breeders at all period that includes show breeders too. So be sure to enjoy your pets and hold them tight because if the anti breeding takes effect your not going to have breeders/furry family to hug and hold tight ~ just check out the anti breeding legislation in every state. |
How is she with other dogs? How is she with other females and babies that are not hers? I understand also about breeding and showing, and no vacations, etc., but those are the choices we make for the love of the breed and we understand these choices, as breeders (and people that show but I do not show). I do not question her sincerity at all - She loves her baby. I just question what is one mouth to feed as she has already been feeding and caring for this baby. |
Littlebits mom... I am SO sorry that people have started an unnecessary discussion on your post. If people wanted to discuss this issue then they should have posted elsewhere. Emma is beautiful and I would love to adopt her... don't know if I could actually convince the hubby another dog is a good idea though. |
She is such a beautiful dog. :) I hope (well I know!) that you will find the perfect home for her. Good luck. Keep us updated on your search. |
Well..... Everyone has their own opinions and feelings and some I understand, some I don't. If everyone was the same, this world would be a boring place. I love my Emma, but as someone else said, being a breeder, it's hard to let any of them go. Puppies included. I can't keep them all or I would. One more mouth is not a big deal to feed...especially small mouths like Yorkies, and this is my first one that I have retired to find a home for. Yes, it was a huge decision that I wrestled back and forth with, but feel it would be best for Emma to find a nice home with someone who can give her more attention, she deserves that. I don't expect everyone to understand, especially those who don't breed. That's ok, I'm not upset with the ones who posted thier comments on here, whom I could have gotten upset with. It's not easy by any means, but you do what is best for your children. Thank you to those who came to my defense. I really appreciate that!!! I did get her spayed, up to date on her shots, and her dental work done. The amount of money I am asking is not a lot, doesn't cover the vet bill, but that's just fine, I am not trying to make money off her, I just wanted to make sure that the person who is applying for her is going to be able to take care of her properly. A lot of people who see a cheap Yorkie will take them and can't afford proper care. Emma is not show quality, but she was always bred with Goliath, who is show quality. Her pups always turned out excellent. Ears up (not like hers who the tips flop down---which I think is adorable)great thick hair and her and Goliaths temperment, which is unbelievable!! Thank you all for commenting and I am sure the right person will apply for her, or she will stay with me until they do. I am pretty picky....ask Patti....love you Patti!!!!! Jill |
Also I have not had Emma since birth, I have had her approximately 3 years. I got her and Missy from a lady who could not care for them any longer. They both adjusted very quickly and quite well. I believe Emma will do the same with her new family, when that happens. |
What a beautiful little girl .Love the ears . |
Emma I have been talking with a lady from MN who has a friend who is a cancer patient and needs a companion. Emma may be going to live with her. We are discussing things right now. If something happens, she will keep Emma. I will keep you updated. |
Jill...I am so glad to see that you may have a home for Emma. She would do wonders for the lady with cancer! I'm sorry that people felt a need to bash on your thread. That is so unnecessary! I have seen before where people are judged for finding a new home for a retired yorkie. It is no one's business and I feel bad that you felt you had to defend yourself. I know you are a wonderful breeder and a person with a heart of gold. I will never forget you giving Lewis that yorkie after he turned Maddie over to Denise. You didn't have to do that, but you did it out of the kindness of your heart, and I know of other acts of kindness you have shown others. I know that coming to the decision to rehome Emma was heart wrenching for you. I send you hugs and best wishes that Emma finds a wonderful home. As for you that can't seem to zip your lips, go start a thread in another section. This is a for sale thread. |

((((((((((((Hugs to you Jill)))))))))))))) tears flow being happy for Emma and the lady that might get her, knowing what a blessing Emma will be for this lady's friend. My prayers to her that this cancer will leave her body and she will be blessed with many years together with Emma. It is amazing what these precious furbabies can do for one, just ask Jack. He went from not being able to smile (Parkinsons Disease) to :mensmiley: which I thought I would never see again, it really was heart wretching watching him struggeling to smile, NO MORE, praise God and for the miracles of furbabies. Thanks to Yorkie Talk and caring breeders such as yourself..... for the joy you bring unto the lives of YT families here. God's Blessings to you Jill and your family. Hugs, Patti and Jack and girls. |

No hard feelings... I have no hard feelings, like I said, everyone is different, that's what makes the world such an interesting place. I only have the best interests at heart for Emma. She will be going to live with Omega's (Teri) friend, Delrita in MN, who has cancer and needs a companion. Teri will be overseeing her and if at anytime Delrita can not care for her, she will live with Teri and her Yorkie Kaya. I am sure some of you realize how healing a dog can be. I know when we got one for my grandpa, from a breeder who was retiring her at 5 years of age, it gave him something to live for. It was unbelievable what the two of them did for each other. After seeing that, and hearing Teri's friends story, I am thrilled to be part of this process. I am positive that her and Emma will form a wonderful bond and will be a perfect match. Thanks to everyone who had kind words and encouragement. I ask now that you all would please think about Delrita and if you pray, please pray for her and Emma. Thank you! Jill |
LilBits Mom - you're a very special lady! |
Bless you Jill for finding a wonderful family for Emma! I hope she is happy there and brings joy to this new family in the mist of their medical situation. Being a cancer survivor myself, i know that these babies definitely work miracles with their everlasting love!! BTW...4 of my girls are from all different breeders that had to part with them for one reason or another so i know how hard this decision is for you. |
I am SO excited to be able to get Emma for Delrita. She had a small dog at one point but it got old and died and she has been wanting another. Something else I was going to do to get her a dog ended up not working out. She wants a small dog so badly to help her through this tough time. When I read about Emma, my heart told me to go for it! :D Jill is being so wonderful about it. I can't thank her enough for giving up her sweet Emma to go to this home. I hope she will be blessed beyond measure for her unselfish decisions. We can't judge people - not unless we have lived in their exact circumstances. Everyone has different ideas and ways of doing things... that doesn't make someone wrong just because they don't do things the same we do. Bless you Jill for the many things you have done for others. :) |
I am so thrilled to hear this wonderful news! Emma will be so good for Delrita and I know little Emma will be loved beyond compare. I'll be praying for Delrita and Emma and for Omega to have safe travels in getting Emma. Omega...please tell Delrita I say congrats and I'm so happy for her! I've said it before and I'll say it again....Jill...you have a heart of gold! |
Thank you!! Thank you to all who inquired and posted about Emma, I was going to ask Admin to close this thread now, but I think I will leave it open until Emma leaves, so I can let you all know how things went and what Delrita thinks about her. |
