Well it looks like Jazz is going to be fine after all :) I guess he only gobbles his food and water when Quincy is near him. So as long as my grandma keeps food dishes in seperate areas then everything seems to be fine. |
they are both adorable. Congratulations. I wonder if you were to "free fed' if he wouldn't stop the gobbling after a day or two when he learns the food is going to always be there. |

I just talked ot my grandma and she says that Jazz only gobbles down food and water when Quincy is near him. Like he's afraid Quincy will eat it all if he doesn't eat it all first. So she solved that problem by sticking food and water dishes in seperate area. Says Jazz has been fine ever since :D YAY But she still made an appointment for them to see the vet. Just to be sure.:animal-pa |
Well, we learned a lesson the hard way. Vet checks BEFORE hand are vital. Buy closer to home and DON'T beleive everything you are told. The 5 pound yorkie indeed should be atleast 8 pounds, has the worst teeth the vet has ever seen, horrible cataracts, knee trouble, and is well over 10 years old. Not 6 years like the owner said. The 6 pound Maltese should be about 10 pounds, also has horrible teeth, and is much older than 4 years. I feel so awful for my grandma. :( We took this lady's word for it, now look what happened. She is going to be putting a LOT of money into these dogs now. |
yorkie/maltese I am so sorry to hear the news about you grandma's new dogs. but all is not lost and it may not cost an arm and a leg to correct. a teeth cleaning can do wonders and they may not need any pulled.(once they scale the teeth only then will they know the damage and most times it looks worse than it really is.(they can really only tell age by teeth, could be they were never ever cleaned .that does not make them older) and cataracts could be from age or congenital get a full blood work up on them before you shell out lots for teeth and go from there. I took in a girl a while back and she looked worse than she was and I found through different dr.s they only guesstimate and age based on teeth quality and health but its not always fool proof as lots on YT have older ones that look just as beautiful and young as my 2yr old. Its good they are with your grandma now. they probable had a hard short life. a good cleaning, grooming, good food, some kisses and love is probably all that is needed. good luck and keep us posted |

Sorry to hear you didn't get what you thought. Are you (or your grandma) going to get their teeth cleaned? Then I would go from there. maybe you can get another vet opinion also. Maybe they were not cared for properly and just need some grooming and good vet care and attention. Good Luck! |

Yes, my grandma is getting thier teeth cleaned. A second vet opinion is a good idea. I will suggest that. |

I'm sorry for your granma but happy for the little guys. Atleast now they will be cared for as they should have been from the start. My guess based on the vet info. is that 1. obviously they were not fed properly and 2. This is why Jazz eats to the point of throwing up. He probably never knew when his next meal or water would come. I hope all works out for your grandma and for the two little guys. Elaine |
