Yorkies according to standard are said to be between 5-7 lbs. Lilly is just about 9 months old now and she weighs just under 4 lbs. and she's tiny. I'm proud to say that I did not pay thousands for Lilly. We got Lilly at 13 weeks old through rescue :) You need to be very careful when trying to purposely buy a tiny Yorkie. MANY will unethically breed very tiny females to produce tiny pups and therefor line their pockets with bigger money at the expense of the poor female being bred. MANY if not ALL of these pups produced this way have a lot of medical conditions that sometimes do not even come out until well after your money is gone, and warranty is over (I'm talking years later). You also have to be careful of unethical breeders who will advertise their "Tiny" as a much older pup to make them appear smaller then they really are. People will do anything to make a buck. And, you have to be careful of unethical breeders selling the sickly runt of the litter as a "Tiny." It's all about money. I won't get into all the care required for such a tiny dog. I'll just say PLEASE do your research and PLEASE do not support unethical breeders that PURPOSELY breed for these tinies without humane concern for the poor mother involved. Elaine |
wow.. that is one tiny yorkie you are looking for.. one that will be so tiny and fragile.. one that can break a bone, die from a tiny fall, one that will need to not be around a larger dog at all, and no kids.. you will live to just protect this yorkie all the time.. I have a 3.5 pound boy.. and he is a huge worry to me all the time.. his parents were both larger.. I took the runt thinking I would get a 5 - 6 pound yorkie.. going up stairs can cause LP. and that is so painful.. And your willing to pay so much for a tiny... wow is all I can say.. |
no cash Well, if I took anything other than cash from you, I wouldn't let you have the dog before it cleared. Only an crazy person would do that ,because you as the buyer have way more legal protection than me as a seller. I sold a dog to a "friend" and let her pay out the last $500. Well, she went on a trip to Florida, spent all her money and now is not my friend as she doesn't return calls or do anything. Because she was my "best" friend, I didn't write a contract and since my husband is a lawyer, I know I'm screwed. |
welcome to YorkieTalk!! Hope you find what you are looking for... Just be careful with the little ones:) |

I will not accept checks for my dogs unless it is understood that the dog stays at my house until the check clears. You live and learn. I have been burned by people in the past claiming that the check wont bounce. They took the dog home and low and behold, the check bounced. So, most breeders will not automatically just trust a potential buyer. There are just too many scammers out there now. And especially to the tune of $3000. And its not all about the money for some breeders. We have a drop dead gorgeous representative of the breed that has a great health guarantee. I you, the buyer, want a drop dead gorgeous representative of the breed as well. I think the good breeders should be compensated for their efforts and you the buyer should get a good dog that is well worth the price. You just have to do the research and find a good breeder. Most responsible breeders do not breed purposely for this tiny a dog. You might look up Natalies Yorkies. I think she is on YT but not positive. |

Welcome to YorkieTalk and good luck finding your puppy! Very exciting time for you. :) You are brave to take on such a tiny one. My Livi is 11 months (today) and is 4.15 lbs.....so basically, 5LBS. Anyway, I think she is tiny and we watch our every move so that she does not accidentally get hurt. I knew when we first got her that she would be incredibly small, but I don't think that I truly realized just how small until we got her as a baby. I remember picking her up at the airport and, of course, thinking how cute she was and also, MY GOODNESS....SO LITTLE! Sorry to have rambled. I do wish you luck in finding what you want. Tammy |

first of all, don't adopt a yorkie without a contract. 2nd, no one can guarentee an adult size of a puppy...NO ONE. they can give you a good estimate. so what's the difference between a 3lb or 4lb? really nothing. are you going to try and get your money back if the puppy ends up being 4.5lbs? you won't be able to. puppies get sick for numerous reasons....they ate something outside, they found something on the floor, so most illness of a puppy is just the nature of being a puppy curious and putting everything in their mouth. now having a contract will assure you that you will either get your money back or replacement puppy if it is genetic illness that will lead to death. many many breeders get scammed on a daily basis. this is the reason for cash only. it is up to the breeder to decide what they will or will not take for an adoption fee. not the person adopting the puppy. the breeder has as much responsiblity (and right) to place the puppy in a suitable home. if there is an attitude, the breeder can just say "NO". |
