| My husband and I are looking for a babyfaced puppy. We have contacted a few breeders and they have all turned out to own pet stores. Does anyone have/know of a reliable breeder with puppies available? Thanks |

| ALL Yorkie pups are born black and tan and turn their coats usually within the first year. As you can see from the pictures, the mom is dark and the dad is very light. If you breed the light to the light, then you are going to potentially dilute the dark blue (steel) color that is most desirable. Same thing if you breed two dogs that have the dark coat that did not change, it will be more probable that you will get a dark coat. As it was put to me from some of the larger more experienced breeder, the coat is a "crap" shoot since it is a recessive gene. You can have two very light colored parents and still have a baby that doesn't "turn" his coat. There is a very good possibility that these babies will have the beautiful coloring and texture of their daddy and the thickness of there mom. Again......no one really knows at this young age, it's more of a wait and see game. The one thing I can guarantee with these pups is that they are well loved and healthy!!!! |

Oh yeah, also another very interesting thing that I learned is that Yorkies that have a true silky desirable coat is that the reflection in their eyes will be a blue or green while the dogs that coats did not turn and are what they consider a "soft" coat, their reflection will be pink hued. Very interesting when I found this out, and as you can see with the pictures I posted, both are true with these pics :-) | |
