Emu Oil Where do you buy emu oil for wrapping??? |
|
I don't wrap, but I do use the same bottle of 100% EMU oil both as a supplement AND as a coat conditioner. I buy mine from Laid In Montana -- they are fantastic to work with. Here is their web-address: I always wondered about the name of the company  but I am almost positive that it refers to the EMU eggs being laid in Montana and not  |
I love you guys. I never even knew there was EMU oil. I learn something new on here everyday. Hope you can get your oil. |
Sometimes you can find it at health food stores. Almond Oil works just as well I've heard. |
Does anybody have link to the online shop (international if is is possible) where this product can be bought. |
I found something. http://www.emustore.com/pure-200ml-p-33.html Should I buy pure emu oil. How do you use it with pump bottle??? |
I just bought some for a friend on Ebay for 17.95. |
When talking Emu oil cheap is not always better, some can really smell!!! Peggy Nygard sells a very refined oil that does not smell. You can order from her at Peggy@3rivers.net She will be happy to explain how to use it. |
Thanks I already sent her e-mail. |
Hi Debbie - thank you for sharing the link for Emu Oil....I'm not showing Izzy (she is too tiny) but I would like to learn how to use it to keep her coat shiny and to protect from breakage. |
there is an emu farm here in oregon, they have both 100% Grade A pharmacy as well as veterinary http://www.highcascadeemus.com/xcart/home.php?cat=5 http://www.highcascadeemus.com/xcart/home.php?cat=6 They are very helpful with all your questions |
Emu oil is great, but I've found that Almond oil works just as good and it's less expensive. You can get it at any health store GNC... The one thing I experienced with Emu oil is flakiness...haven't had that problem with the Almond oil. |

oil Oil can have the opposite effect on the coat if it is too heavy or used too much...clogs the hair follicle and it starts to flake..then some people have a hard time getting all the oil out and the dry coat is too greasy, so they over shampoo, too much as strip all the natural oil out.. |

What about VIRGIN COCONUT OIL. Does somebody use it? |
I just left a long rave review for Emu oil. I'll never go without it! |
I just want to point out, for people's awareness, how emu oil is made...some people don't realize it's actually from the Emu itself: "Slaughter Emus mature at a relatively slow rate compared to other birds; they are rarely slaughtered before the second year of life. The technique for slaughtering emus is similar to the methods used for smaller fowl such as chickens and turkeys. Trucks carry the birds to slaughterhouses, where machines break the emus' necks. The ASPCA notes that rough handling under these circumstances can cause the animals to suffer from injuries or pre-slaughter death." |
Just heard back from the Emu oil company. Here is their reply. Sounds humane. " When the birds are processed for the meat they are knocked out with a stun gun.* They are hung from tall racks and their juggler vein is cut.* Their hearts are still beating so the blood is naturally pumped from the bird.* It is totally painless for the bird.* This is the same way Kosher Butchering is done. * We are actually growing the birds for the meat, the oil is a by product of the bird.* All parts of the bird are used.* The feathers, the fat, the meat, the hide." I don't know about other companies but this brand is OK by my standards. This is "Blue Ridge" brand. |

My first reaction was  but this is not any different if you eat meat that is processed by a large company. In fact it maybe a little better |
I'm 100% vegetarian since 1989 and I ate vegan for 9 years of that stretch. I'm definitely sensitive and concerned about the treatment of animals. If coconut oil was effective, I'd use it, but it doesn't help my little Yorkie. If it works for your pup - that's awesome! |

Lil Sis - Food Inc was great, I loved it! Forks Over Knives is another good one...from a different angle, but kind of similar too. |
Yep thats why I dont use emu oil. I think we can get by in life without purchasing emu oil and add to the unnecessary suffering of emus. I used to use minksheen but stopped when I found out minks are killed to make it. Im not a vegetarian and eat meat but I think that is different than purchasing a product for your dogs hair. There are plenty of other products that work that dont involve the slaughtering of animals JMO |

good answer... I have heard about Forks over Knives. I am really wrestling with this issue. I still eat meat, I like meat but often my mind starts to "think about" it and I am done. I don't have a problem with fish or even bird but pork (they wag their tails) really bothers me. I guess I have to fight my own demons As far as emu oil. I agree to kill an animal to treat another animal is a bit much, but the emus are killed for their meat, the oil is a byproduct. What I was saying if you eat meat how is the oil different? That is just me.. and I don't know the answer for anyone, not even me at times:eek: If there is a non animal product that works that MAY be the better choice. |
For me it is more why does a emu need to be eaten anyway or their oil used. The elite chinese pay alot of money for tiger parts because its supposed to be medicinal and I think we can all see thats wrong because there are other medicinal things they can use that dont revolve around killing a tiger. That is how I view the mink oil and the emu oil we really dont need it for survival it is a luxury item |

well.. imo ... at least we are thinking about it and maybe making small changes. The small changes will add up to a lot. |
