I am not sure what I did? After getting a reccomendation from a fellow YT'er I emailed a breeder that has some Yorkies with good pedigrees. I was interested in one foe my daughter to do JR. handling with through 4-H but also wanted one that if she did well she could go into AKC showing... SHe ahs done the handing with Ritz a little but he really is not conformationally correct for AKC events as isnt Shellie.. Theya re wonderful dogs but Ritz iz so so small and SHellie is Just so lanky... I got an email back asking why I wante to breed? I replied that I did not have breeding in mind. If I wanted to only breed I have dogs now that I could breed but was interested in a show quality pup and ahd no interest in breeding . WOw I got the meanest email that I had contacted her before ( which I had not, I only recently was looking for a show quality pup like within the last week since CHelsea has shown continued interest in the handling aspect, and not to ever contact her again. What did I do wrong? I am almost in tears right now.... BOnnie |

No, she was a breeder in Colorado.... I tried to explain just because I hate it when people think I am lying :-( AT this point I do not want one of her puppies or otherwise. It is too bad when you think you are better than me and can pre-judge jsut because I inquired about a puppy :-( I am so bummed now. Not because I especially wanted one of her dogs, I have lookeda t plenty but since she was just a state over I thought it would be a great opportunity to be able to see the parents etc. I will stick witht he friendler people and not recommend this breeder to my friends and otherwise looking for quality Yorks! No I will not divulge the name as she is well spoken of here so I was really excited when I got pm'd the link etc. I hate it when I get accused of being a liar |

That is horrible. I understand that breeders need to be careful where they place their dogs, especially when full registration is involved. But this uppity, holier-than-thou attitude some seem to take is not only rude, it is unprofessional. They need to come down off their high horse! It is like they think they were born breeders/show people and never were novices. Thankfully there are a couple of very caring and encouraging breeders that show here on YT. They take the time to answer even my dullest questions and have never demeaned or slammed me for taking an interest in Yorkies beyond the pet stage. I hope your next exchange is more pleasant. I think you did well to weed that name from your short list, no matter how well she might have been spoken of in the past. |

Too bad you didn't get one of the litter I just sold. all four of mine are good show prospects and will start this summer. One of my previous puppies is already in handling classes. She will be in her first show in march I think and we have been told that there is no reason why she shouldn't finish. i don't show and have no interest at all in it. My parents just produce some great puppies. ceeby is quite the little stud. he was used every time. I am so sorry you got your feelings hurt. |

petfinder AMEN....reputable breeders do not use Petfinders or pet forums. |

I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you! :( :( :( Consider the source of where it came from and try not to let it bother you. People like that have to be nasty to other people to feel good about themselves :rolleyes: You're lucky you didn't end up with one of her pups. There are TON of great breeders here on YT that have show quality pups, I am sure you will find the one of your dreams soon! :) |
I wouldn't be sitting in tears if I were you. Don't take it personally, maybe she had someone write her and pretend to want to show a dog to try and get breeding rights and then you came along and asked the same question and she thought it was the same person. Maybe this person was just having a bad day. That doesnt excuse the fact that she was rude. She could have jut said she doesnt sell her dogs for show or breeding and let that be the end of it. I am in Colorado and trying to think of who it could have been. I only know of 2 people that have several dogs and one of them is the devil herself. Not sure if that is the same one or not. Be glad you didnt buy one from her. |
Co Yorkmom... first initial? HInt it is in the first half of the alphabet lOL.. SHe is not a nice person and I will NEVER reccomend her dogs if theya re gold plated and the only ones left on the face of the earth. I am more pissed because I was very upfront and detailed... Breeding NEVER came into the equation , nowhere in the conversation. I get a ton of people wanting me to recommend breeders, She will never be on the list. Bon |

I'm confused. Petfinder is for rescue dogs and cats. The animals can be listed from a rescue group or animal shelters. Are you telling me this breeder has her puppies on this site???? |

I have recived a nasty email not too long ago also. It does hurt. It hurts when you want to do things correctly and get slammed. It hurts when you are excited, doing research and websites say, "Contact me at any time i would LOVE to chat, ask any question!" I still want to show. But it will not be for a while. Do i want to breed? Someday, with finished ch.'s. Why? Because I love yorkies, I love yorkies who are close to the standard. I would love to show more people, I love the sport of dog shows. |

That is what burns me more than anything, I did not go into this lightly, I have done my research , made my mistakes ( very very wonderful sweet loveable mistakes LOL) but nevertheless, I know how I should have went about it int he beginning. I ahve dogs right now I could breed if that was all I was looking to do but, That was not my intentions at all. I really seriously wanted to do this rihgt, I am not even saying that I would have wanted to buy a pup from her I was jsut looking and researching, checking out lines then the breeder etc. Much luck to her with that attitude she will need it Thanks a bunch and i am SURE there are tons of great breeders. I am in no hurry so I can afford to be patient. Bonnie |

By the time I did a thorough search on her and seen her pups etc I would have figured she was a $$$ breeder. Thanks , now off to search again... Topknot, can you tell me how you arranged your purchase? Is there a co-ownership with a show contract? Please tell me..:-) Were you able to look at the puppy or did she pick it for you as a show potential? Did you have your baby shipped? Please let me know. I would hate to offend her as well Bonnie |
