Oh, wow! That's terrible!!!!:( With the growing popularity of the yorkie breed, people are going to extremes in order to get one. A breeder friend in town had one of her dogs stolen right out of her parked car in front of a convenience store. She chased them for at least 20 miles to another town. Sheriff's dept was called and she was able to prove the dog was hers and she filed charges. I hope that this person gets their dog back...so sad! |
someone had to have seen something those poor dogs! what horrid people would just take someone's dogs like that! i hope they all get back home ok!!! |
Oh No! I am praying for their safe return!! They need media attention immediately! |
so sad Wasn't that awful...I so hope they can recover the dogs..and one little Chi is pregnant, so sad. |
Who is Darlene? |

Doesn't look like they were necessarily partial to Yorkies since they took Maltese, Poms, Chihuahuas as well. I feel so sorry for the owners but also for the dogs. I just wonder if someone that could care so little will take good care of these babies or see that the pregnant one gets the needed c-section. Breaks my heart for all concerned.:( |
Tell Darlene I'm so sorry! It seems now days you hear more and more about show dogs being stolen, out of vehicles, airports, etc. They can't breed these dogs and sell their pups paper or show them. Makes you wonder what they are using them for. I don't even go potty without Connor. |
Any news on the stolen dogs? Have they been found? |
Oh my gosh...that is so terrible! I will be praying for their safe return! How could they steal 7 dogs? There must have been more than one of them to be able to grab them all and get out of there. My heart goes out to all the owners. |
No news that I know of on the dogs. Darlene shows her dogs. Someone on my other forum posted about Darlene's dogs missing and Darlene wanted to get this information out to everyone in hopes that her dogs could be found. I have gone to shows lately and everytime I am out traveling I think how easy it would be. One is so vulnerable when traveling to a new city and not familar with the surroundings. You have to go out away from the car at times - to check in to the hotel, grab something to eat, etc... I always travel with either my husband or my older daughter, so one of us can stay in the car. When you are at shows though you do some people that leave their dogs alone on tables, crates, or will hand dogs off to strangers. Just last month I had someone hand me a champion standard poodle to hold while he was in the ring with another dog. Yes, I was right near the ring, but he did not know who I was. It would have been so easy to leave. There is that trust at shows one has with everyone, but with the changing times I think that people must be so careful. I have heard in just this month of 2 other show people that had their purse stolen and attacked. Luckily the dogs were okay. As one owner said - the real value was not in her purse, but in the crate. T. Tami - I just thought --- How easy it would be to register the stolen dogs with CKC (Continental). Maybe those people were thinking the same. Who knows. At least some changes with registrations (CKC) will be changing in Jan. and won't hopefully be as easy to register any dog. |
This is so sad. I will be praying for a safe return of all the stolen dogs. Sometimes, I really hate this world. The evil that exists is unbelievable. I really hope that those poor babies are found ASAP. :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: |
What a heartbreak. This world, I agree, is so sick sometimes. I do not understand how some human beings have no conscience. Aren't we all born with one? I pray all the dogs are safe and found soon. The poor little Chi! This time of year somehow makes it sadder to read these horror stories. Please keep us updated. Carol & Buddy |
OMG that is disgusting! :thumbdown :thumbdown What is wrong with these sick horrible people?? How could they just STEAL a living, breathing thing? I'm so very sorry! Please tell Darlene that I will be praying for the safe return of her dogs -- this is just devestating. :( |
What an awful thing to have happen! I pray for the safe return of all these dogs and a special prayer for the little mommy to be. |
Oh my Gosh that is terrible. I hope they find and prosecute these ass holes. |

Papers not a necessity with these breeds. Quote:
I am so sorry for Darlene's loss and pray they will find and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law whoever was responsible for this! :aimeeyork :animal-pa |
I have been reading this all over the internet. I do not think any of the dogs were yorkies. There were Maltese, Poms, and the Chihuahuas. It sounds very suspicious to me. How could someone break in and steal seven dogs unnoticed. How far away did the handler take the one he was walking? How many people would it take to control 7 dogs? What about the barking? My 3 would raise such a ruckus, I doubt anyone could miss it. Why would the handler leave site of a vehicle containing such precious occupants? I read on one site that they are not sure the dogs were taken in NC but might be in TN or Georgia. Maybe the handler is a suspect but supposedly his dogs were taken too? Another site said that puppy mill people might have been laying in wait for people traveling to the dog show. But still, it sounds so weird. I hate to be suspicious all the time, but I have been "had" so many times about things in the news in the past few years. I used to immediately have sympathy for every story of loss but now I wonder about everything. I hate that -- I liked being able to believe everything I heard but you can only get burnt so many times before you develop a little bit of suspicion. |
What a shame. Don't give up hope. |
Stolen in Tn....??? Wow....that is weird........I was at all TN shows but Knoxville.......that is to weird::confused: |
I am not sure, but think this is the show they were heading to: Furniture City Kennel Club, Inc. Event Status: Approved Greensboro, NC AB / JSHW Nov 11 and 12, 2006 I got this information from the AKC site: http://www.akc.org/events/search/ind...action=results T. |
Here is the first page on AKC I went to: http://www.akc.org/events/search/ and then clicked pn North Carolina - all shows in that state are listed by each month. T. I think it would not take very long to empty out a car with several people helping. Also you get use to the dogs barking when you pull up to a gas station or resturant - they see people and bark - typical. The handler should have made sure he could see the car, but maybe parking was no where near the grass. He may not have locked to door, since he thought he would not be gone long. I have seen myself first hand some show people not being very careful - you get busy and don't think that anyone would steal a dog. How many time have you been to a show and seen dogs on the table, in pens, or in crates, with no sign of owners/handlers? I have at every show. I just do not think this was made up. JMO It does teach me a lesson - never ever to ever leave my dogs alone or unattended at a show or in route. |

and other sites that add to the mystery like this quoted from dogster site: "Here are the facts according to Claudia Graham: Darlene Black breeds Poms and Maltese in GA and contacted Claudia about purchasing Sunny new name Geno as a breeder and show dog. Claudia agreed to this but Claudia was to be co owner. Then, Darlene wanted Rob (who is Darlene's handler and according to Darlene like a son) to be co owner as well. Claudia wasn't very comfortable with that (doing a 3 owner) but was convinced that Darlene was a wonderful caring women and thought she could trust her. Darlene sent Rob to Claudia's home in TX to pick up the dog "Geno". When Rob saw "Peanut" he ooooooo'd and aaaaaaa'd over him and asked if she was going to show him. Claudia said yes but hadn't set it up yet. He wanted to show the dog with Geno. Guess what guys? No Contract. Trusting him she said, all right because she already had ties with him on the co ownership with Geno. And it looked like a lasting relationship with Darlene. This was 4 months ago. During those 4 months Rob really didn't answer her calls or her emails She would speak with Darlene begging to get Rob to call her about the boys. Then she said she just wanted peanut back because he hadn't even shown him yet. Rob had every excuse in the book. Now, he gets Peanut in a show and before he even shows, the dog is stolen along with the co-owned and the 5 others. Here is the kicker: Rob Storey and Darlene Black NEVER EVEN CALLED Claudia to let her know. Claudia heard SUNDAY NIGHT from a friend of hers that is also in the breeding world. NONE of the posters or pleas for help include the name of Divinity Maltese or Claudia Graham. Claudia is hurt and furious. She is sick to death at where this dog is. Peanut is an "exceptional pedigree" that is so important to her because he is the last of the line that she has. This is why he is so important. His mom is spayed. I forgot what she said about his dad. She has been on the phone with the police and had the sheriff go to Robs house and there are cages all over the place, all the blinds are down, there were some larger dogs in the back yard, and the barking coming out of the house from lots of dogs. Rob no where in site. No van in site. She wanted to do a background check on Rob Storey and the police won't do it without just cause. Claudia finally got a hold of Darlene but the story is constantly changing. She has yet to speak with Rob. What can be done for this woman??? Does anyone have any ideas-??? She is at the point that she would hire a private investigator if he were reputable and not take her for everything she owns. She is willing to offer a reward. I told her to post it all over her website. Can anyone offer assistance as to where to go from here? At this point the two others can't be trusted because of the variations to the story and the way things were handled. She is hanging by a thread here. Anyone can call her and email her if they have any doubts and want to speak to her. " http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=376340&j=t So -- that is why I am wondering who to really feel sympathy for.....seems yes, someone's dogs were stolen, but the details are not clear to me. |
Thanks FlDebra for the background information. All I know is that - I had a member from my other yorkie group pass on the notice of the lost dogs for Darlene. Apparently Darlene was trying to let everyone know as fast as she could about the missing dogs and wanted the nitice cross posted to wherever it could be posted. She also gave phone numbers to contact (including the handler) and microchip number of one of the dogs. It just seemed very legit. I do think she should have contacted the co-owner/breeder too. That would have been one of my first calls. I do not know the whole story - Just that these little babies are missing and not at home. If anyone has seen any of these dogs - it would be important to notify the police. T. |

I am so sorry to here that some evil person would do this to you all. I hope they all can be found and the thief can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I pray that they will get home to you. |
Just want to confirm that these were Not my dogs. I was just passing on the lost dog report to help out. Thanks, T. |
I assume that police reports have been filed? |
Not sure, but I hope police reports have been filled. T. |
