I advise you to use caution because I have heard that some of the lines from Mexico have health issues. Are the tails undocked on the pups? One of them looked like the tail was undocked. Of course you can show a pup with a full tail but it is harder to finish a dog them.

As for which to buy, I feel that if you are new to showing that it would be better to start with a male because with females you have to start dealing with their heat cycles at around 7 months or older and that can effect their personality.

Is the breeder requiring you to sign a contract? What kind of health guarantees to they have? Investing in a show dog and showing is a huge expense. It can be very rewarding but it can also be very risky. I hope you keep us updated on your progress.
No there isn't a contract required, he isn't in the USA, things are different in Mexico. They come with a one year guarantee unless accident or negligence. His dogs are very healthy. I have had one for three years that was recently killed that we adored and I'm waiting for a brother that is a sibling to those in the post. The breeder is highly recommended in Mexico and is in good standing with the federacion for 12 years. I highly recommend him. He is very easy to work with.

My apologize, I don't have to sign a contract. I'm not interested in breeding or showing is perhaps why. idk

Also the breeder isn't a snob. He's very helpful and honest and has a good track record.

I don't know who the breeder is that she is referring to. I know I have read of some people getting show dogs from breeders in Mexico and they had a few problems. I know there are some very nice dogs from Mexico but not all breeders are honest.

thats true i have done some resarch and that breeder does not require me to signthing but no i am worried the breeder is not good is it normal for a breeder to sell there dogs with no contract

Any reputable show breeder would require a show contract and/or breeding contract. The contract is for your protection too. More important than the show contract is a good health guarantee. Are the dogs all AKC registerable? Does the breeder give full outright registration or do they stay on as a co-owner? What if you get a male and he ends up with one testicle? What if the pup has bad knees or a bad bite? All these things need to be discussed before you buy a pup. If you are buying the puppy as a pet at a pet price then then you would not need a show contract because you are just taking a gamble that the pup might turn out to be show quality. Most reputable breeders would not sell an nice pup with open registration.

Have you ever attended any dog shows? Do you have a good knowledge of the proper structure of the Yorkshire Terrier? It would be great if you could find a show person in your area to help you.

Is this the case in Mexico? I do know that he registers the puppies and the paper work goes through Mexico City, the capital city and they have a one year guarantee. They are tatooed and micro chipped.

Balefirejr, if you are looking at showing one of his dogs, you need to be looking at the more expensive pups for at least 10,900 and up. Those pups are his finer dogs.

yes thats what he told me that those where pet quality only and he had on that was in 11,900

yes he told me that on of the pups in the picture is only pet quality and he has different pup that is more expensive but i dont no if i should trust him he sold a pup more expensive just because it was going to be smaller but he look very legit

I know which puppy you are talking about. You are right. Someone who you can trust is honest. He told you the truth, which makes him honest. If you would like to buy a puppy from him, tell him exactly what you are looking for and ask him if he would be able to help you? I have asked my own questions about what he has told me because I am learning and what I learn only confirms that he is telling me the truth.

This may not be my place, but I would be very careful, there are a lot of snakes out there that would love to take your money.


Have you ever shown a dog before? Just curious.

There are a few things you posted that I am confused about. From what you have shared, if you were my close friend. I would be lobbying for you to use caution. If he sold you a "show puppy" 10 months ago and it didn't work out I'm confused why you would go that route again?

As always buyer beware.

Also, the breeders and exhibitors that I see each weekend at the shows that I compete in, almost all give a five year health guarantee on their puppies. These are excellent breeders who are competing at shows week after week. A one year guarantee is really below the standard I would expect.

Just my two cents.

I just bought my first show yorkie. I spent as much time researching the breeders as I did their lines because I knew the breeder would have to be someone I would feel comfortable dealing with for a very long time. If it wasn't for Moxie's breeder, then I would have been completely lost! She is super helpful and answers all of my questions very quickly. She even came to a show JUST to help me with Moxie. It is going to be very hard to have that kind of a relationship with someone who is out of the country.

Personally, just because I have recently done as you are doing, I would look for a reputable, show breeder who is actively showing in your area so that you can have help when you need it!
