Debra - GREAT post in #30 :). You capture things well. What fascinates me about this whole....thing...is that some people who 'stir the pot' aren't even YT members anymore . Yet, interestingly, they know our total member count, they 'talk' about specific posts, use YT user names, and even have nicknames for various YT members. Now, that's not only ironic...but funny too. Not funny-hah-hah, but funny *weird*. Why are people so obsessed with members here? It doesn't take a psych degree to figure that one out, I suppose. Also, to the members here who go elsewhere to denigrate YT...I have a genuine question, similar to my question yesterday: why are you here? I'm just curious, genuinely. We welcome all members here, however, no one is forcing you to be here, nor have they ever. How disrespectful to the Admin and other members of this board to SELL to them, only to find out that the seller is operating under the guise of pretense. In other words, they use YT and pretend they love this site, only for all of us to find they denigrate it elsewhere. To those who partake in this kind of thing all I can say is: 1) decide if YT is a fit for you or 2) take a good look at your integrity. If you misrepresent yourself here, only with the goal of MAKING SALES, then I hope you realize that many people are smart enough to see through the charade. We will continue to allow as many types/kinds of posts/opinions, as is the tradition of YT. It's a community, and no community is perfect. I am encouraged to see that some folks do indeed have perfect lives and communities, as demonstrated by their ability to denigrate other communities (???). Thanks to all who make this the community that it is, and to those who try to embrace the true spirit of what a 'forum' really is :)! |

Great Post Ann. Totally agree, and I believe that 99.9% of the real contributors also would agree. With any forum you always have a few that ....well, I had best not say of I will be on a 3 week Holiday, and I am shooting for a record of not being given a time out! People that are trollish will always pop up, always try to start something, always look for attention. Sometimes it is best to just ignore them....if only I could learn to. Keep up the great work Ann! |

Ann's is another great post. She really hit the bullseye with that one. |
Great Responses!!!! I commend you :) There is always going to be bad apples among any type of group whether it be a forum, the dog show world, the horse world, the sewing world and every day life. It's how we choose to handle it that separates the decent from the not so decent. As I've always said to be reputable it's how you handle problems. The reason I don't get upset, mad or angry and respond in a positive manner is because I stand behind what I say and do. I do not have to defend what I do because I feel I'm doing right by this wonderful breed and stand behind my dogs. I guess those that go to other venues to bash others are cowards in my book because if you have something to say why hide? |
It would be great to have a real true educational platform here. But in order for it to have any REAL Merit. You would have to have current statistics of what their work has been in the breed. How long they have been breeding. If they are going to give whelping help-how many litters have you raised. Breeding-How many Homebred Champions have you produced.I think some on here are giving advice and they have never even bred their first homebred, but to read their post you surely would think they have. Showing- what is your accomplishments in showing. I just think this should be a Sticky or something to give the people an idea of how much experience do the breeders really have. Just think it would bring much more merit to your site. |

These troublemakers/complainers have not initiated or contributed to any meaningful discussion or debate that they say they want in this section of YT. Nor is there any evidence that they go out of their way to help others the way the people they are bashing do. |

No one has ever said that YT is where you should obtain all your information/education from. Quiete the contrary...it is not the end all, but it is a place to gain food for thought. I don't know how many times Donna as well as others have said.....research, research, study, study, attend shows and find a mentor. I don't believe there are any experts here, but a community of people who have yorkies and want to share. |

Many good posts here on this thread. Whether the subject be breeding, showing, training, health care, this site is a wealth of information. We have many members here who are willing to share their knowledge, their thoughts, and they cover a whole spectrum of experience/knowledge. The "inexperienced" person is as welcome to offer a thought, or an opinion, just as much as the more experienced folks. And IMO that's the way it ought to be. I would how-ever hope, that in emergency situations, that can often occur in the breeding threads, that the more experienced breeders post first, or can in a timely way correct a poorly worded, or dangerous suggestion. But I point out that this a public forum and discrimination needs to be practiced on what you read on this site, just like any other. It is a shame when attacks of a personal nature occur. One can have a different point of view and present that clearly and simply. In fact that is most frequently when learning can occur. I like the quote "Zen mind, beginners mind". If you empty your preconceived notions, perceptions and conceptions of what you "think" you know, then there is space to receive deeper, and or different understanding. |

! I learn from this site. I have some knowledge but so much to learn. I have so much appreciation for those with so much more knowledge than I. Keep on keeping on!!!!! Great posts Debra and Ann! |
Isn't this thread that was made from another thread that was closed, a personal attack on a member by posting and making a new thread and her name in the title. Isn't there a rule against this? Attacking people by name? |

I think justice is meted out pretty evenly on this site. If anyone attacks directly with personal insults or abusive language their posts are deleted and they are warned, suspended, or banned depending on severity of the breech. We do have some leeway in expressing personal beliefs and opinions. That has gone for all sides. There are certainly posts or threads I would personally like to see deleted, but if they do not actually break the rules, then they stay. It keeps the forum open and honest that way. I am sure you and maybe the person named here in the thread title would like it to go away -- but actual TOS are not broken -- no name calling, personal insults, abusive language or lies have been used. They pretty much opened the can of worms with the posts they made. You can't take this one thread out of context -- it did not materialize from thin air. Sometimes we bring things on ourselves. I just read your other post and I am not really seeing a "staggering number of people" fleeing this site, complaining, or dissatisfied. In fact, I hardly ever see anyone that upset with the site except for breeders that don't follow what is becoming a generally accepted code of ethics here -- one long ago established by the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America (YTCA) and sometimes a newbie or two who has not really gotten to know the bigger picture. I have belonged to several online groups. There are always a few who leave, some disgruntled at changes, some for personal feuds with other members, and some who just change interests. There is a normal ebb and flow. I have taken a couple of breaks away from YT and I can assure you neither of them had anything to do with the way the site is run. I find it the best run site I have ever been a member of!!! Admin dispenses justice fairly and evenly and does not join in on debates or disagreements. Either side is free to say what they want as long as they don't cross the lines. You break the rules and you get a suspension or banning no matter who you are. It is easy to say things are not fair, or claim favoritism when things do not go your way or the way of your compadres. But I think a person would be hard pressed to find that here. It is as even and fair a site as I have ever seen. If it seems "the other side" is coming out ahead, perhaps it is because they are following the rules more carefully. Just a thought. I have had to delete more than one of my posts before I hit that "submit" button. I have asked a post be deleted when I thought I did not use good judgement. We all get a fire built up some days, the key is to not let it get out of hand. I really believe most of what has transpired in the last few days has more to do with a small group being "outed" for speaking ill of Yorkietalk and specific members on another internet site. Since that day, it seems almost any thread can become an instant powder keg. Isn't it better to just let it calm down and move on? To bring up these differences day after day after day..... seems so very counterproductive to me. In the spirit of the season, could there not be an end to this? There was no need to ressurect this thread. Time to move onward and upward. A new beginning would be nice! |
Breezy, you have a terrific Holiday Season. You can report me, as that seems to be your life obsession. Makes no difference to me. Peace |
The other thread was closed at 11:53am this one started 11:54am.. just for the record. |
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday week :)! Cheers! |
