| about to start i brought home a 2 year old show boy called Harvey yesterday. my original post is here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...-show-boy.html and i was just looking for advice. do you keep them in wraps all the time, just re doing them everyday. his old owner said that when i undo them, give him a good groom which he loves and so do i. his old owner gave us everything that she owned for him. his table was put up in my lounge when i got home lol. he is a absolute angel. also if anyone can answer the questions i already asked, it would be brill. i have always wanted to show yorkies but was never brave enough. Harvey has been used in stud and would like to carry on, i also would like a pup off him to continue showing, i have shown for a lady with yorkies but she did all the grooming as she wanted it perfect. but she did show me how to groom. thank you in advance x |

| Good to see you here! The best advice I can give you is to find the breed club close to your area - I gave you the contact people on the link in the other post. You need to be with people that show in your area and they can teach you. You need that in person help - to help you the best. The person that had Harvey originally can also give you names you can contact. Not turning you away, just want to make sure you find a mentor near you. Still waiting to see photos! You are so lucky to have one right away with full coat. Congratulations! Oh, I forgot - Sign up for Yorky Club Magazine and The Yorkshire Terrier Magazine. And Sweetyblue have grooming tapes you can order. These will help you. Last edited by topknot; 01-18-2010 at 04:29 AM. |

You will need to check into all the health tests you need to do prior to breeding. As well as a myriad of other things. It sounds like you have never bred before. Other threads here will let you know all the things you need to know prior to taking the enormous step of breeding. But first and foremost is to get a mentor who will support you through the ins and outs of breeding. You will also need at least one mentor who is geographically close to you particularly during whelping time.

YT 500 Club Member | You need to decide on a name you'd like to use then get an Affix application form from the Kennel club and fill it in to apply. Its then put in one of the dog mags [cant remember which one] so any other affix holders think it may be too close to theres, if everythings okay you'll get a certificate to confirm your new Affix. After that you pay a yearly fee to keep it, [ mines Gemadar, so thats one down, lol].Most people use combinations of their names or street names or something similar. Good luck finding one, it took me years. Hopefully one year I'll be putting my name to another show dog. Good luck. Oh a photo please. P.s. Back when I got mine it was £50, dont know the price now, Harveys breeder might know. |
