What to Wear when Showing

Hi all,

I'd like your advice on what to wear when showing your Yorkie. I have noticed that many women wear skirts and not trousers/pants when showing.

I like pants because you are supposed to kneel when you stack your Yorkie on the floor.

Also how do you keep the static down in the coat when showing?

Does anyone know of a store that makes clothes for the showring exhibitor?

I do not know of a store that only makes clothes for show exhibitors.
We normally wear either pants or skirt with nice top and jacket, or a simple dress. Dress comfortable and apporate, remember you will be bending and getting up and down a lot with showing yorkies. And wear comfortable shoes.
I wear pants most all the time, since I am older and I just feel more comfortable in them. My jacket - I wait till just before ring time to put that on, since I get hot at shows often. You can check photos in magazine to get an idea what everyone wears.

Most exhibitors that have been showing for a long time wear skirts. Long ago, in the sport of showing dogs it was understood that the attire was bussiness attire. Men wore suits and women wore skirts, so some women still choose to do so.

Keeping coats down can be done by using anti-stat. The product is put out by various companies.

At some dog shows you'll find a few vendors that have clothing for exhibitors. I've just found them to be very matronly, better off buying show clothes at department stores.

There is a store throughout the US.....StienMart......don't know if you have them out there....I would think so, since you live in Georgia.

Let me add, comfortable shoes, no sandles, and make sure they are quiet.....no heavy soles as they do tend to make a lot of noise and you don't want to disturb your fellow exhibitors.

The clothes at the shows can be pretty pricy too.
Men usually always were suits. I like some of their ties, they can be pretty cool.

I hate those new rubber, garden like shoes that some exhibitors are wearing....

We do have a SteinMart, but I have not seem them with specific show exhibitor clothing, just nice clothes that are affortable. I shop at several places and usually what I wear to work is what I wear to show. I wear low heels at my job and they are quite and comfortable. Hehehe

Me too!!! Hehehe They are really weird. I would whether wear nicer looking shoes. Did you hear - you have to watch out when riding an ecalator with those garden shoes or they can get caught and tear up your feet. Ouch!!

I love SteinMart's clothes...I know when Doreen & Lorraine come to Oklahoma or Texas....that's the first place they want to go.....just to see what they can find for the ring.

We have the Dress Barn out here too, they did in Texas; affordable clothing.

I hate those shoes, people out here wear them everywhere....they were made for gardening and should be kept there.
