Crosswinds kennel fire
 
Manalos Mom asked me to crosspost this from general forum for her so here is her post copied and pasted.:

Today while I was working I heard on the radio that 26 Yorkies lost their lives yesterday in a fire. The radio said it was Crosswind Kennels. She was not home at the time but arrived to a fire. Some Yorkies survied but 26 lost their lives. They said the pups prices ranged from 400 to 19,000 dollars. Im so upset about this. Can anyone tell me if they have spoken with Crosswind Kennels in Southmayd Tx. And if they need help at all I can drive up and help....I PM a couple of Breeders that may know her. Please Pray for them.

This is so sad, this is the 2nd kennel fire I have heard of this year. But can anyone tell me who pays $19,000.00 dollar for a puppy???

These were not just "puppies". These were championed show dogs. Most of them anyway and she recently sold one for $40,000. to Japan. but yes, it is very sad.

I posted about this the night it happened under "General Discussion"...it was on our local news as I am only about 20 miles away. Very sad.

i talked to colleen last night and she is just numb
she lost 5 more and they are praying they can save the rest
i have several crosswind dogs and my chaz is the love of my life i can not even start to imagine what she is going threw

she told me the fire dept is pretty sure it was lighting that hit her building but they did save her home she had no insurance
she lost her grooming building as well

Such a tragedy. Words can't express how horrible she must feel losing those precious dogs. My heart goes out to her.

My heart breaks for her. I cannot imagine losing one, much less that many. I will keep her in my prayers.

oh my heavens what a tragedy to deal with... my heart goes out to this breeder...I cannot even imagine what this breeder is going through..but I know she has to be beyond devestated...anne

This is so sad don't get me wrong, but it just shows that show breeders are in it for the money, as they all say they are not!!! Anyone that sells a dog for $19,000 - $40,000 is in it for the money!! That is just a crazy amount for a Puppy or Champion show dog it the best in the world, to much for me. I am upset about the fire, it is just to sad but the money thing makes me think. Do they know what started the fire in the 1st place?????

I am so sorry to hear this. My heat breaks for her.

As far as prices I don't think it is anyone's business. Show breeder have alot of time and money invested in their dogs.
