Razzle fights me on the table - we are still working it out. I use a hold under butt and other hand under chin to bring him up to table. I swing him a bit back and forth and look to see if hind legs are where I want them then place hind legs down first - then lengthen his body forward to place front legs. next I place my forefinger beside jaw and try to keep his head lifted up. If god is good to me he will stay in place and have a good line. lol Then it all falls apart when the judge comes up to him. Mainly he just wants to kiss and say hi to everybody all the time!. We are also working on that too. lol |
HI! Thanks for the kind words on Selma! ^That's what I'm used to do with my dogs, but she just won't relax her body.. She puts her feet nicely by herself, it's just the the final touch, the "proud" look that she doesn't show all the time. She's just like a teenager, "I won't and you just try to make me.." and then the expression on her face is like this  other times the proud stack comes naturally. I just really don't know when it'll appear and with my luck, the "magical moment" will not be at the show.:thumbdown |
She is looking very nice. |
Selma grew up to be a beautiful girl. Good luck with her. Love her full tail, it certainly adds to her personality. Also love the deep blue of her coat. Thanks for updating this old thread, it's nice to see how she has grown. |
Females will often go through a stubborn streak and you may have a time with them. It is expected. They are female! I had one girl that at about 15 months to 21 months just decided too that she hated the table. We were in handling class one week acting like a pro and then the next week her hormones kicked in and she decided she hated the table. My trainer even asked me if this was the same girl. LOL My girl finished in 3 weekends (back to back) with an extra major. I could not believe how fast she finished! It blew my mind! I love the ones with this mean streak! And so do the judges - because they usually love the ring and show off when coming back up to the judge. Love'em!! :D Just let her know who's boss and you can work with a table lower to the ground and give her treats and then work your way up higher, till you are using the regular table. She will get it. |
She's looking good! |
Nice looking girl... I loved seeing the changes (clearing, etc.) over her growth! |
Very pretty girl!!! I love the naughty ones too!! Makes them so much fun in the ring ;) |
Your girl is very nice, the colour is beautifull and her topline is great! And if sometimes you have some problem with his temperament -maybe you just try to use a specialle ferromones? It can help for dog to be more relaxing and then you show her favorite toy or some good food and when she will stand well for moment you just give it to her as a price.Maybe it will help? |
Yeah, this one is a stuborn little lady :D I hope it is her age, that she'll grow out of this awkward behavior. Just now she's been really nice on the table, but we'll see what happens in a few weeks at a show..... |
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...0/IMG_4319.jpg Selma 22 months in spring sunlight. She already had longer beard, but managed to destroy it... and she still fights while being stacked and now even when moving, it is so frustrating because when we're on our regular walks there's no such behaviour. |
Selma is a very pretty girl. Im clueless on what it takes to take the prize in the ring but she sure looks good in my eyes. I had to laugh at a few of her other photos all sectioned off and wrapped up, I blow dry my little guy that way. Well i use small hair clips like a hair stylist would and a vent brush. But trade I am a stylist so thats my idea of a blow dry. And I LOVED the photo of your male playing in the snow it warmed my heart. I sure hope you find the trick it takes to get her squared away and eager to play pretty at your shows. |
She has won prizes but it irritates me that she does not show her best at shows. In spite of her behaviour in the ring, judges have recognized her qualities so it is propably not that bad... I hope :D |
1 Attachment(s) Selma 23 months. She'll need to get one more CC after her 2nd birthday to get her ch title. I'm hoping that next judge will have the same opinion of her as the previous ones have had...:D |
Well, she did get her CH title in the first show after her 2nd birthday :D 2 yrs, 1 day and 20 hours old. Now, we are thinking of going abroad. Or, she already has some CC's from abroad but since she got them under the age of 2 yrs.. we'll have to try again. |
She has matured beautifully. Thank you so much for posting the pics to watch her change and grow. Her color is amazing, and she does look like a right devil in the attitude department. Congrats on the Ch (even if a tad early) |
Thank you, I've found this thread educational myself, seeing her developing like this and reading my older posts... it's so hard to see the changes when you live with the dog. Now I just hope that she'll keep her spirits (most judges have commented on her temperament like "this is just what a toyterrier should be, self-confident, alert and full of life and mischief " and even enjoyed her bouncing up and down) and her coat so that we could keep on chasing some more CH-titles. I've got some pictures of her in the ring with no feet on the ground :D It's really been a pleasure this summer, she's always happy to show herself. I'd like to get another dog with this temperament later on  even though I was in despair just a few months ago :animal36 |
