Show Handler? I wanted to get into breeding in the future and wanted to show but I think that I won't have the time to show but I do still want to get my dogs their champion titles. How much is the price range for a show handler?? Do you guys recommend any good handlers? |
you need to copy and paste this on the show forum. but, I can tell you right off, it is very expensive to hire a handler. You will pay a monthly flat fee, boarding and etc. Then you will pay all show expenes and entry fees. |

I'm in Va. and in your neck of the woods we have David Fitzpatrick, Tammie Ford, Susan ( I can't remember her last name at the moment but she is in Richmond), just to name a few. You should come to the next Specialty that the Yorkshire Terrier Club of the Nation's Capital will be putting on. It's held in DC and is usually the first of Oct. Alot of the top breeders and some excellent handlers will be there. |

Chicago is quite a road trip but it would be so fun to have a meet up. I wonder if Laurie would accompany me and we could get the gals from JaLa to meet up with us there. That would be such a blast!! |

I had planned to do shows in NJ and NY that weekend but I am seriously thinking about Chicago. I heard yesterday that Joan Gordon (Wildweir) will be there. I would really love to meet her. Tami - I have enough sky miles to fly but I would rather drive with my tack box, grooming table ect. I can swing up to VA to get you. |
Where in Ohio is Diane and Jack? I have a girl who I would love to get a handler for. |
Donna - great new pics of Radar |

When is the next Nations Capital Specialty? |
I think it is less expensive to finish a dog with a handler. As a rule, it takes an owner handler longer to finish a dog. It was almost a year from the time Deuce got his first point until the time he finished. You can send your dog out for a few months with a good handler and get him finished. This is a hobby not a profession for me. I don't show every weekend. I had a dog with a handler for a few months last summer and I was a lot less expensive than I expected it to be. Jamie Bennett (from VA) is a wonderful handler and a wonderful person. She campaigned her own dog to #2 last year. If you are interested, I will get her info for you. |
handler It was always cheaper for a handler then me doing it...my handler had a 3 month limit..and she finished them in 3 months...! If you added up all my traveling expenses, hotel etc it was very pricey for me to show...and I did not win every time, she did 90% of the time... I remember when Jamie started out...she has worked so hard and earned everything she has achieved. |
