New UKC Champion! 4 Attachment(s) This past weekend we took mom's Kiki (Butterfly of Padawi's) to a UKC show, there are 4 shows in 3 days. Kiki was shown with a natural tail and wowed the judges all weekend. She won Best Female in every show and even won Best of Breed over a Special on Saturday!!! She finished her championship in just 1 weekend, we are so very proud of this little beauty queen!!! :D We are very proud of Kiki and her accomplishments! When we were getting some pictures taken yesterday we were talking to a couple of the judges that had judged her this weekend and they were unaware of the standard change for UKC to allow the natural tail in yorkies. So it seems she won despite at least 2 of the judges thinking it was not allowed. It was so much fun to show such a nice girl to the judges this weekend... You can see her show with her full tail on a video on our site! Video link: JaLa Yorkshire Terriers in the Ring - 2007 Show News Here are a few pictures of Kiki from this weekend :) |
Wow congrats...she sure is pretty. |
Congratulations on the wins . Kiki is gorgeous . Thanks for the pictures . |
Yea Kiki!!! Congrats to the new UKC champion! It's so nice to see a lighter gal win. I'm getting a bit tired of only seeing very dark dogs in the ring. She's a beauty!! |
Thanks guys so much for the congrats and compliments!!! I love her blue and her coat, I would take her coat on all of our yorkies in a heartbeat. Her coat is very easy to maintain, she has never been wrapped and had a litter 6 months ago. We had some professional ones taken this weekend and hoping they turned out nice...fingers crossed! :) |
Congratulations on your new UKC champion. She is beautiful. |
How exciting! Kiki is beautiful and her coat is amazing. What a sweet face she has. Congratulations. |
congrats on the win. Your kiki is just beautiful. Look at her beautiful coat and backline and tailset.... |
Congratulations!!!! :congrats::bravo: She is very beautiful - great silk and what a nice face. Love her intelligent expression. She always looked at the judge and was so well behaved. Your mom did a great job in the ring handling. Great arm formation. Very professional. I wish we got those large rosette ribbons in AKC! Wow! T. |

She's beautiful - I think all your dogs are beautiful. :) |
Congratulations! She's a beauty for sure! |
Congratulations! She is lovely! |
Well done, ladies. Doesn't feel good to train and condition a puppy and then take it in the ring and have a judge award all your hard work! |
Thanks for the congrats and compliments everyone!!! I think if judges could get past her tail (which every yorkie is born with...go figure) then she would do very well in the AKC ring as well. She is very much my dream yorkie, I just love her! |
She is breath taking!Congrats!!! |

I guess it is hard for people/judges to get used to. We have a friend that has a beautiful boxer out in the ring with natural ears and is having a difficult time getting her finished, even with one of the top boxer handlers on her. Kiki actually has a naturally shorter tail, it is really only about 1-1.5 inches longer than you would expect it if it were docked, and docking it is just not an option. We will see what happens, I will let you know if we decide to take her AKC, I really do think it is time for AKC to be more open to it regardless of breed standards. I do know of 2 yorkies with full tails that completed their Canadian Championships rather quickly, professionally handled. They were from Germany also. |
Congrats Laura and Jackie! She is a beauty. Her face reminds me of my Fergie. If Fergie only liked showing we would be all set. You know I love all your dogs. So when are you coming to Michigan? I have your room all ready!!! Hope to see you girls soon. I need to come visit someone!!! |
Congratulations on your new UKC champion!!! What a beautiful baby!!! Only thing with showing a yorkie with a tail in AKC is, it's considered a fault not a disqualification just like a bad bite ect...but I've known yorkies to finish with a bad bite so give it a try can't hurt :) I'd rather see a yorkie with a tail win over a yorkie with bad structure and movement with health issues any day! How beautiful & Congrats!!! Hugs-Kay & Jaxon |
