DQ's at Illinois shows I was looking at the results on Onofrio and I notice at the Sunday show a couple of dogs got DQ'ed under judge Raymond Filburn. Jack Onofrio Dog Shows Does anyone happen to know why there were DQ'ed? Both of the dogs had won points in the previous shows under different judges. I am just curious if this is a new judge or a judge that has been around awhile. |
i would like to know why they were DQ's also. It looks to me like they would post the reason but they never do. |

Isnt mr filburn one of the judges that dq's on color now? Just thought he was one of the ones to be avoided if you have a lighter colored dog. |
This is not the first time he has DQ a yorkie. He has been noted to DQ a puppy and a 12 month old for being too dark: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ust-fyi-5.html My guess is that he thought they were too dark. I did not show under him when he came to Atlanta, because of this. This is the only power we have is not to show under judges we do not agree with. Or when your club is deciding on judges - not to choose the ones we prefer not to. I had also heard he is not taking any new appointments for judging yorkies. I guess this is one he had already accepted earlier. I did go and see him judge in Atlanta and he did not DQ any yorkies that day - Feb. 2, 08 and there was a darker colored yorkie in the ring that day. T. |
On Infodog.com it shows he has 6 upcoming assignments. Raymond V. Filburn Jr. FUTURE Assignments for York Terr Maybe because the puppy was in the open class and not cleared is the reason for the DQ. Are judges still allowed to ask the age of your dog? Gosh, we yorkies breeders have so much to worry about already in breeding structurally sound dogs with proper coat type and now we have to worry if our young dogs are the right shade of gold or blue before we can show them. Luckily it is not happening that often. |

Someone sent me a pm on another forum and said it was because of the "sooty" heads.. I just think it is a shame that these judges are getting by with doing this to young puppies. |
Hi. I was entered at this show and witnessed this DQ!!!! The dog was DQ'd because of "not breaking blue". Same with the puppy bitch!! The gal showing the puppy bitch is a newbie. I felt sorry for her. The dog that was DQ'd was bred by a lady that has been showing and breeding for years. Sandy's dogs are beautiful!!! I was standing right by the table where the ring steward was and I wished you could've seen her face when this happened!!! She looked shocked and rolled her eyes. I got second place with my bitch that day. I personally have never had a problem with Filburn. He finished my male years ago and gave my male a point last year at Burlington, IA. They protested to the AKC Rep. after judging and Filburn stated - "No Discussion!" I will think twice before entering under him again. One of the gals said he has made the comment that he does not wish to judge yorkies anymore! |

Problem is that some judges judge so many breeds and when they get something, like an added DQ for our breed - they go by it - their interputation. We now unfortunetly have to wait out the 5 years before we can change the DQ. I think we have all learned from this one! T. |

Great Thread! I have alot to learn before I even step foot in a ring. Ceasar has a beautiful compact body, but does tend to slope toward the head, which I will have to work with when I stack him, also is of the darker color and at 6 months I am just starting to see his black lighten a bit on his saddle (? back ?). |
Tina....thanks for sharing the pictures. My first Yorkie, Dixie who is almost 12 years old, has Chelsea Nimar lines behind her but it is back on her 5th gen. so I know that does not mean a lot. Her mom had 5 of the Chelsea Nimar champions on her 4th and 5 generation. Have you ever heard of Ch. Delei's Bim Bam I'm Your Man or Ch. Holliday Dancing Teddy Bear? I have not been able to find anything on them. |
ut oh...he is judging at one of the Maine shows I was considering in the fall...my first one too... |

I have not heard of Ch. Delei's Bim Bam I'm Your Man, but do know of Ch. Bim Bam I'm Your Man. I think with the Delei's - it must have been another breeder with her lines behind him - reason for similiarity in name. But I am not sure since I have not heard of Delei's. I have heard of Holiday. I think from Florida. But it is with only one "L" in Holiday. So not sure if this is the same. T. |

And yes, owner of the Open Bitch is somewhat new but the dog came from Mary (breeder and co-owner) - also has great yorkies! Quote:

Also Holiday - I was just talking to Denna (Holiday) last week. She is very nice! Does a lot of professional handling too! T. |

My Galahad is 2 and his head hasn't cleared yet...Should I give up on him clearing? If you look at the photos it to me looks like it was clearing some but now I wonder??? Can anyone explain this? Has it already cleared?? I'm confused on this I know my Sofie and Weezie and Sage have cleared. Here is photos of him below and his Ages: The one with him & sage He was 16 Months Old Christmas he was 19 Months Old His head in oil he is 2 His body in oil he is 2 (He just turned 2 May 4th) :) Lee |
At what ages are Yorkies (Male and Female) considered a Adult? Do males heads clear at different ages then females? Or do they all clear about the same time? Or does their heads clearing have to do with their lines? :) Lee |
