Laurie, I am so fortunate....I have Tina(TopKNot) and Becki(DazzlinYT) that are so very helpful and very good friends too! Unfortunately I am in the middle of both, about 3+ hours, so a quick trip for grooming advice is a little difficult...LOL.....But, both gals know Paddy now, and can give me good unbiased advice to get her to her championship...I am already ready for my second girl to show, as I would love to have both to work on....and finish...the only thing, when and if a handler is needed, the expense may be a little more...LOL

Shirley - it is easier and cheaper to hire a handler but there is nothing like the satisfaction of finishing your own dog.

My friend Jan called last night to tell me she won the major in Louisville yesterday. Jan has been showing for a little less than 2 years. She hired a handler to fnish her first girl, she finished one boy and is well on her way to finishing another boy. Jan's story should give everyone that is just getting started hope.

OMG...how exciting.....I wish I would have known who she was on WEd.....I did meet a really nice gal and now to find her name on the piece of paper.....I thought it might me Jan....but I dont think so now....

Did you ask Jan if she saw us at the show????

Showing 2 gals at the same time could get tricky. If they both take their class they will both have to go back in the ring for WB. If you don't have a friend to take one in or if the gal is a mommies dog like mine it makes it tough. I have a male I want to put in the ring next month when he turns 6 months but it will be hard to show him before I finish Connor. Why not get a male next?

Jan is super nice. I meet her and talked a long time with her and Nan at the show in Lexington last summer. She is so helpful.

congrats on finally getting your show girl!! Paddy is gorgeous, she has a great face and great coloring. I hope you have fun with her in the ring. would love to see more pictures.

I think she is special too....and not to be biased but, I love her coloring too...she is quite the wild child, I tell you.....the first show, she was a little timid....but, boy at the second show, she pranced in and showed her stuff....now hopefully, the judges will like her.

Well....I hear what you are saying...and a boy might be nice eventually, but I am a little afraid with my limited area for the dogs, boys may be a bit difficult early on. And regarding who will be able to go in the ring with two girls....well, Paddy has already taken claim to my hubby, as he has with her...and he even stacks her better than I do....LOL......so we have new interest in showing at the Hill household....

Boys are supposely easier to show and finish. One thing for sure, it is easier to find a quality male than female.

I am very partial to my boys. I have 5 boys and one girl in my house. They are so sweet and so eager to please!

I really appreciate it Bettyeanne, I feel as if I have been looking FOREVER! I love her more and more each day.......now, I am ready for the next one! LOL

I have looked back at the money I have spent trying to finish Deuce and I am covinced that a handler is cheaper. I have been showing him for 1 1/2 and I still need 2 singles. I don't know about the competition in other areas of the country but, here in the South, the show rings are full of beautiful dogs. I showed for Ann Hearn last year in Hampton, VA and she stood in the middle of the ring and told us that the she was having a hard time choosing because all the dogs in that Open class were beautiful and deserved the points.

I know what your saying, I used to show schnauzers 20 years ago, and went straight to a handler after 2 pts, with my first champion...lol. Now, I may try my hand, but am definately in support of using a handler if need be. Hopefully, there will be interest from a handler when the time comes...:)
