Hunny Bunny just needs to learn to walk in the grass! There are some outside shows that are still on a hard surface. Asheville and Berryville are 2 that come to mind. Toys show on cement under a shelter. I will take him outside and work with next week in Raleigh. The fairground is huge. There is a flea market that goes on the same time as the show. I will take him out for walks. Let him get comfortable walking around before we try to gait him. Conner is still young. As he matures, he will start showing better for you. You just can't imagine the trouble Deuce gave me the first 2 years of his life! With time and patience he became good show dog. |

Jan had a male in Bred By and Carol's male was in American Bred. I think Carol was the only one in her class. |
Congrats, She is gorgeous:) |
Congratulations! She is very pretty! Good for you for getting right out there with her! Good luck in the future to you both.:aimeeyork |
That's a nice looking little gal you got there. I can imagine how nervous you were at that Specialty. Its good experience for you. Yes, some of other exhibitors can be snobby, etc. I have although, met more nice, helpful people than the opposite. The most important thing I learned back when I used to show was never say anything bad about another. You can bet it will usually get back to them. I usually end up at the shows with the "Chicago" clan. They are extremely nice to me and most remember me from before. Anyway - good luck with her - it will be fun to watch her progress this spring and summer. |
Thanks for the nice comments I really appreciate all of your nice comments..... I really like Paddy. She has nice coloring, and a great show attitude, and I love her movement, both front and back.....but, we do need some work on her behavior in the ring....LOL ,and, I do need to put some weight on her, as was told to me by a really nice breeder at the show....but, Paddy is losing her teeth and is picky, so she only eats when she is really hungry. She is 4.2 lbs and very sturdy.....and never sits down, unless she falls down to sleep....lol The last 3ish years have been pretty stressful, I thought I would never find her or would never get lucky enough to get what I was looking for....all in all....I NEVER have had any issues with show people not being nice to me....they have always answered every question, offered to help me in other ways too and when a puppy was available to fit they would discuss it with me.....so......I have been pretty fortunate. I was pretty happy with her performance on Wed, for her FIRST outing, show and all.....she did ok...., most of the other girls were somewhat older I think, maybe closer to 8 or 9 mos.... I will be looking at the spring shows now.....I think I will go into the ring in the future. My friend Becki did a great job.....she has more recent show experience than I do.....it sure helped..... |
Yes... Quote:
Yes Laurie....Becki took her in for me....thankfully... We left right after the specialty, as I was working and had to get on the road..... |
Is she out of Beau? I thought Becki had some pups about that age. |
She is a doll!! Love her! I think you picked a good one. Love her color and it looks very silky too. I think you will actually have a lot of fun showing her. Just get time to practice training her. Any handling classes near you? Mine start again this Monday and then our next show is Newnan. Wow, what guts you had to start with the Speciality! T. |

My friend Jan called last night to tell me she won the major in Louisville yesterday. Jan has been showing for a little less than 2 years. She hired a handler to fnish her first girl, she finished one boy and is well on her way to finishing another boy. Jan's story should give everyone that is just getting started hope. |
Wow!!! Quote:
OMG...how exciting.....I wish I would have known who she was on WEd.....I did meet a really nice gal and now to find her name on the piece of paper.....I thought it might me Jan....but I dont think so now.... Did you ask Jan if she saw us at the show???? |

Love her pictures!! Congrats on your new beautiful show girl!!!! |
Jan is super nice. I meet her and talked a long time with her and Nan at the show in Lexington last summer. She is so helpful. |
congrats on finally getting your show girl!! Paddy is gorgeous, she has a great face and great coloring. I hope you have fun with her in the ring. would love to see more pictures. |
Thanks Quote:
I think she is special too....and not to be biased but, I love her coloring too...she is quite the wild child, I tell you.....the first show, she was a little timid....but, boy at the second show, she pranced in and showed her stuff....now hopefully, the judges will like her. |

I am very partial to my boys. I have 5 boys and one girl in my house. They are so sweet and so eager to please! |
Oh, Shirley, I just saw this ... I am so happy for you!! Paddy is gorgeous ... I love her!! Congratulations! You deserve this! :) |
Your so sweet.... Quote:
I really appreciate it Bettyeanne, I feel as if I have been looking FOREVER! I love her more and more each day.......now, I am ready for the next one! LOL |
"when and if a handler is needed, the expense may be a little more...LOL" Shirley[/QUOTE] I have looked back at the money I have spent trying to finish Deuce and I am covinced that a handler is cheaper. I have been showing him for 1 1/2 and I still need 2 singles. I don't know about the competition in other areas of the country but, here in the South, the show rings are full of beautiful dogs. I showed for Ann Hearn last year in Hampton, VA and she stood in the middle of the ring and told us that the she was having a hard time choosing because all the dogs in that Open class were beautiful and deserved the points. |
I agree wholeheartedly Quote:
I know what your saying, I used to show schnauzers 20 years ago, and went straight to a handler after 2 pts, with my first champion...lol. Now, I may try my hand, but am definately in support of using a handler if need be. Hopefully, there will be interest from a handler when the time comes...:) |
