| ![]() I don't know if any of you saw this, but this was the thread I posted about my poor baby Tucker last week: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=119418 I was planning to show him, we were signed up for conformation classes and everything. Are my chances completely ruined now? ![]() Pictures are before and after... Last edited by EmrldShdwQueen; 03-05-2008 at 06:25 PM. |

| ![]() Awww, he's still cute but I would be upset too. I wonder how long it will take to grow out. You could still work with him until it grows out.... ![]() Your story reminds me of the time my sister in law watched my kids and cut my youngest babies hair which wouldn't normally be bad but it was his first haircut!! And she cut my older one's hair and we videod it and made such a big deal out of it. I couldn't believe she did that. Oh well.... ![]() |

![]() I do use Eicosaderm in their food, and it seems to help their hair grow...but I just don't know how long it would take to get it ALL the way back to floor. ![]() | |

| ![]() His hair will grow faster than you think!!! I would still go to conformation classes and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!! While in the learning process, the hair will grow and you will be the the show ring before you know it!! by that time you two will be pro's!!!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() You can show him in a working cut with UKC. Get him registered with UKC, go to confirmation class, and show UKC. Who knows, he could be a UKC champion by the time his hair has grown out and he's ready for the AKC ring. All is not lost, you'll still have a great time and be learning. By the time it's long again the two of you will be ready to kick butt!

| ![]() It is definitely not too late. It will take about two years to grow a good show coat. I know of one Yorkie that was cut back at one year of age and he recently became a champion when he was a little over 3 years old. Many of your male Yorkies are just in their prime at 4 and 5 years old. I you have evaluated your male and if you think he has the soundness and proper conformation to become a champion then I would go for it. |

| ![]() Try to look at this in a positive manner, he is a boy. So keep him in good shape, start training him while you let his coat grow back. Your boy can show longer than a female, because of course you would want to breed your female eventually and the coat would take another hit. But with the males they can be used as breeders while growing coat and not hurt the coat at all. So you have time to let his coat grow back if you want to show him. So think positive. | ![]() He's 8 months old, so you guys are right, I still have time. Thanks for all the encouraging words. I'm going to see about registering UKC. He's probably too young to be shown yet anyways, so I figure he'll be a little over 2 1/2 when I get his coat grown back out. Here's a picture that his former owner, Terri, took back when he was 6 months old. |

| ![]() If he's only 8 months old hon you have plenty of time to grow it back out. Young'ins coat usually grow faster anyway. Practice him in conformation classes and he's still young and you have plenty of time to show him. I actually like to start showing them when they are older anyway and like I said he's only 8 months old and his coat will grow. Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |
