Anyone showing in Louisville next week? I was thinking about going to the Louisville show next week to watch for a little while, but not sure what day. Are there any YT'ers that are planning to enter? I would love to watch you in action!!! .... If not, does anyone know what day would be best to go? Thanks! |

You are going to see some great dogs. My dear friend, Jan will have Highland Watch Me Fly Boys In the Bred By class. If you want to chat with some of the exhibitors you should try to find her after she shows. Before she shows, she will be busy grooming. |
Hey Laurie, Are you going to Louisville this weekend or Hilton Head? |
Here is a link to Onofrio's closed shows: http://www.onofrio.com/execpgm/index?index=JP Just scroll down to the shows in Louisville,KY and click on the ones you are interested in and then click on judging program an it will tell you the time that the Yorkies are going to be shown. It sounds like fun. If you go be sure to take pictures to share with us. |

Neither one. I am entered in Hilton Head but I am going to Frankin, TN to pick up a dog. There is suppose to be 5 inches of snow there by morning. That is going to be fun drive! |

Its Wed.. See you there! Franklin.....close by....have not gotten any snow yet...:) ?Are you picking up a Yorkie in Franklin??? |

Are you going to Franklin? I am picking up a Yorkie on the way and a Maltese in Franklin. I am really hoping there is no snow. The Weather Channel is saying 90% tonght and 70% tomorrow. I was suppose to go to a show in Jan and the Forecast was 90% chance of snow so we stayed home. We didn't even get a flurry. |

L, Rose and I didn't run into any bad weather other than rain coming out of Franklin today but we had a teeny tiny bit of ice here at home. Supposed to get a bunch tonight. We left today as soon as the yorkies were shown. But, all the Nashville news was giving lots of show and people were pulling out the show left and right. |

NO, I didn't enjoy it at all. Too many professional handlers and too many noses stuck up in the air. Not a chance with the likes of Kirsten McGregor and Bob Owens but at least they didn't have puppies. They just kind of sat with Anna Stringer and shared teir private jpkes. You can imagine what the jokes were. But, we took second Friday. There were four dark puppies. The girl that beat me was just like my girl. They could have been twins except she was larger and SHE trotted good. My gal decided to lay down and put her face between her paws and roll her eyes at the judge. When he got ready to circle us, he looked at me and asked me if I thought she would follow the other dog. She did but on her one to one, she wouldn't even go back to the judge. But, he just laughed and NO dark dogs were DQ'd altho Andi said she was the one that had her other puppy DQ'd a couple of months ago because it too light. |

I wish I would of know it I might have gone, we're about an 45 minutes to an hour away for Louisiville!! But...right here where we live we got a foot of snow and it's pourin out now and they say we could get up to 18" of snow & we're under the warning until 4 this evening, & our town is now out of salt so I bet the roads here is a mess, so right now I'm stayin' @ home lol!!! I wish I could of just went to view it and find out what they do as far as the judging...I've never been to one!!! Maybe in the future. Did it get cancled due to the snow??? I know everything everywhere around here is canceled in Louisville too. |

She had about four different breeds she was showing and about eight to ten dogs of all kinds. That surprised me. She left a yorkie in the grooming noose while she was showing her Westies. I kept my eye on the dog (we were set up close to her) because the dog kept trying to figure out a way to get down. I held my breath until Kirsten came back. I am considering doing the Clarksville show. It is a two day show and I was told that most of the pro's won't do a two day show. not sure yet if I will fool with it. i might just wait until July. We have three UKC shows in Kentucky, July, August and November. |
FYI - Actually the pros do the two days or more shows. It is wiser to do the multiply days shows. T. |

I have been showing dogs for many years. I decided I wanted a YT and called around until I found the one I wanted, had it shipped and tried to learn to groom by looking at pic in magazines. I was at ringside my first show and I walked up to Kirsten (I had no idea who she was) and told her I had never shown this breed and would she please take a look at my topknot. She said that it was a good topknot for a beginner but I needed to do a couple of things differently tomorrow and told me how. She was very nice to me. Remember these professionals are just that professionals - they are working. I don't blame them if they don't take time to stop and chat and join me for lunch. Have you seen how many dogs these people have under their care? It is amazing to see them after the shows exercising, feeding and grooming all those dogs. I will say one thing for Kirsten - she is one of the few that I see taking time to play and show true affections to all of those dogs. Dee - you have picked the #2 breed in the AKC. This is a hard breed to be successful in. My last AKC show I went all weekend without even getting a placement. It was not because I have a bad dog - Deuce is a lovely dog. The rings are full of good dogs. My boy Guy finished in 4 shows with a handler (before I owned him); Deuce is just as nice and I have shown him for over a year and he still needs 2 points. If you decide to show dogs do it for sheer love of the breed and to enjoy the time with famliy and friends. Know that you will lose more than you will win and remember that your day will come. You will win and the thrill of it will make you come back for more! |

I just talked to someone showing Maltese and they said it was a problem getting judges to the show. The show is still going on but running late. The person told me that they were replacing judges that could not get there. I am skeptical - if there is a judge change, you can ask for a refund of entry fee. Clubs don't like to refund entry fees. I have my Parka and snow boot and heading West!!! |
