I have my Parka and snow boot and heading West!!!

Have a safe trip today! sorry I couldn't tag along, but I'm spending the weekend with my hubby. (he has a race tomorrow)
See ya soon!

At least he wins money!!! Jan is sick so I am stopping by to see her. I may stay tonight and go to TN tomorrow or go to Galtinburg and rent the Honeymoon suite for me and the dogs like I did when I was showing in Knoxville. I love to travel alone. I can sit down with my sketch book and not have to speak to anyone - pure heaven!

I am back!

I am back, no problems with the snow......there isn't much left. I was expecting 4 inches.....yea right...in TN?? No way, we probably got all of 1.5inches.....but, apparently, people listened more to the news reports because there were several yorkies that did not show up.

I was happy to see finally one of Brenda's yorkies(Starwood), and a few Renaissance yorkies, which I like a lot....all in all it was a nice show....

Dee, well, I have been known to talk to whoever will talk to me....today, I went up to the judge and asked her a question about temperment, and how important behavior was to the judge.......she was very nice....and explained that she wanted the puppy to "act like a Yorkie, fearless" but that she did need to see the front, back and side movement at somepoint in the ring....but that she did like the "attitude" as well.......she was very very nice.......of course, when you take a puppy in the ring.....it seems that "that in itself is risky...LOL"

Thanks to everyone who helped me get there on time today.....I cannot believe I totally forgot this show, and it is in my backdoor....LOL

Well, I am off to Atlanta...so I wont be back at the show tomorrow.....unless I win the raffle prize!!! Haha ha...

Thanks again.
Shirley

Shirley - that is right: about the fearless attitude. I think that is why Gigi did so well and finished in record time - she loves the ring and has that "I am soooo cute, Look at me" attitude. I have one girl that is drop dead gorgeous and what a body and movement, but without that attitude - she would not do much in the ring. Glad you were able to get to the show.

Oh I agree I think attitude is a must. I remember taking Strut to our handlers house, and Strut just literally felt at home and he strutted his butt right into the dog room and David laughed because most dogs are a bit nervous when going to a home with dogs but Strut acted like he owned the place.
Strut finished at 12 months the only show weekend he went out with the handler that he didn't win was Columbus Ohio and I remember the ohh and awwwss around the ring because so many people including us thought he was going to take it he didn't but he showed so well and looked great so we were thrilled to the max that he was our homebred boy anyway without the win, but the next few weekends he won every day and finished fast and I wasn't sure about his age if that would hurt him but he shined and you couldn't ignore that confidence he had. The attitude does shine thru sometimes mine have too much attitude and I have had judges tell me to go back and take them around again but slow him down this time, that was Squeakers he only came with one speed ROFL but he won that day.
Struts mom was like your girl Tina, she would get in the ring and look beautiful and stand there like OK you know it I am IT, and I am NOT WALKING rofl. She got excused and she ended up a beautiful couch potato.

NO, I didn't enjoy it at all. Too many professional handlers and too many noses stuck up in the air. Not a chance with the likes of Kirsten McGregor and Bob Owens but at least they didn't have puppies. They just kind of sat with Anna Stringer and shared teir private jpkes. You can imagine what the jokes were. But, we took second Friday. There were four dark puppies. The girl that beat me was just like my girl. They could have been twins except she was larger and SHE trotted good. My gal decided to lay down and put her face between her paws and roll her eyes at the judge. When he got ready to circle us, he looked at me and asked me if I thought she would follow the other dog. She did but on her one to one, she wouldn't even go back to the judge. But, he just laughed and NO dark dogs were DQ'd altho Andi said she was the one that had her other puppy DQ'd a couple of months ago because it too light.

Hey, dont be sooooooo sensitive!!!! Kirsten is one of the best handlers around. She has always been great with me and is always very informative. I doubt if they were joking about you or your dog. I got my feelings hurt at my first show and some others too. I now have rinocerous hide instead of thin skin.LOL Alot of exhibitors come off as snobs, but they are usually VERY busy and show many dogs and breeds. Some will take along time to warm up to you and if you come off with a bad or unfriendly attitude towards them first, they will not give you the time of day. I know how it is to be on the outside looking in. Dont feel bad because your girl wouldnt walk!! She is a puppy!! It happends!!:) Your day will come!!!!:) Ask questions and listen. Dont be opinionated or bad-mouth. You can learn BOAT-LOADS from these professionals/exhibitors and make some wonderful friends and mentors.
I am sorry your day didnt go great for you. But there is always another day!!:) :)

I know here we're under a "State Of Emergency" so that means no traveling unless to work or Emergency. And we've been under it all day so far and it's still not lifted on us and it's 5:50 pm. I know we have a ton of snow here. I know across the TV they are closing a lot of Church Services for tomorrow Morning. Do any of U know where it's at in Louisville? We don't know Louisville that well. Good Luck to those of U who do go to Show and View!!

I kept my eye on the dog (we were set up close to her) because the dog kept trying to figure out a way to get down. I held my breath until Kirsten came back. I am considering doing the Clarksville show. It is a two day show and I was told that most of the pro's won't do a two day show. not sure yet if I will fool with it. i might just wait until July. We have three UKC shows in Kentucky, July, August and November.

I apologize for this post. I was just inform,ed that she only had the Westuiues and Yorkies and that the others were the groomer next to her. So I apologize for saying this. I know Kirsten is good because she won everything going. Except best in Show. i didn't approach her or any of the others. i did talk a little to Anna Stringer and a couple of other really nice ladies. One of them had a little dark male Reniasance something or other and I was so attracted to him because of my girl . Andi was also there with her two dark puppies and I loved them. She is the one that had a puppy dq'd when they first changed things but it was because it's head was too light. She is also a new exhibitor and now, a member of YT. Really, super nice lady.

Just an FYI

Oh I forgot, today at the show at the Chris Christensen booth if you buy a pair of scissors, then you can get ANY brush for FREE......now that I came home, I wish I had bought the scissors.......urggggggggg

They were the Model 107 for 130.00 and I would have picked the CC fusion oblong for my free brush.....which if you bought the brush it would run you about 50 dollars.

So if anyone goes by the booth tomorrow......and need a new pair of scissors...it is a great deal.......since the scissors are over 100 on their website......

I am just kicking my butt right now.....I just had 100 with me and forgot the ol credit card.....

I ordered the shears from CC and didn't get a free brush. feel cheated!!! I bought a brush and comb in Frankin and got the free shampoo/conditioner travel set. I was talking to the guy at the booth and he said that Chris was working on lots of new products. One was something to remove eye stains that really work.

The Fusion brushes are really nice but I still like my Greyhound brushes best. I guess we are creatures of habit!

Have you guys bought the CC Teaser comb? It work great on topknots.

Those 2 look like clones. Same clothes, same hair cut and same fire engine red streaks in their hair. I saw them at ringside today could tell who was who until one of them turned around. That would be cute if they were 15.

Hey Laurie, Good to know you made it safely. Did you pick up your new pups yet? Is the snow bad? Be careful out there!
