It would be great if you could attend a show so you can really see what it is all about. Are there many shows in your area or any breed clubs?
What a bear show? I love antiques and neat 'old junk'. I love going to garage sales. | I have only been to a few shows. Locally we have a small club here (Coso Dog Fanciers) They used to sponsor an AKC show here once or twice a year which we always attended, but they cancelled they last one so I don't know what is going on with that. I think I will call them and ask a few questions. From what I have read in the local paper they seem to be made up mostly of herding dogs though. They do have obedience and agility matches in a local park, again mostly herding dogs. I live in a pretty remote area... a town of about 30,000, but the next nearest town is about 80 miles away. So we kind of get left out of a lot of the fun stuff to do.
About bear shows... I am a teddy bear artist.. I make collectible jointed mohair bears (simnilar to the old Stieffs) and sell them at teddy bear shows in San Diego, also up north, sometimes in Albuquerque, NM, etc. as well as my web site. I make a lot of vintage styled bears so I am always in antique shops looking at accessories, vintage sailor suits, christening gowns etc. I am retired from the federal government where I was an electronic technician for 22 years. So making teddy bears is my full time job now.. That and loving these sweet furbabies. |
