"Any solid color or combination of colors other than blue and tan as described above." The "described above" mentioned is: "BLUE: Is a dark steel blue, not a silver blue and not mingled with fawn, bronzy or black hairs. " On this basis with some judges anything "light steel" would be cause for DQ. |

I think its up to the judges interpretation of the new Dq. Mr Usherwood considers any dog over 12 months to be an adult and therefore will DQ color based on that alone. IMO, I think he has gone waaaaaay to the extreme on this DQ thing. He has DQ'd more dogs than any other judge since Oct and has DQ'd more dogs in one show than any other judge. He also will DQ one dog and not another and they are the exact same color and approx age. |

Some of these judges are putting waaaaaaaay too much emphasis on color shades and dont even look at structure and conformation. This is a toy terrier first and foremost, not a rag doll that can grow gorgeous silk hair. Some of these judges are forgetting the history and developement of this breed. Did all their knowledge of this breed suddenly fly out the window because of this new DQ in the standard? I think some are forgetting how long it takes to grow a beautiful adult coat by DQing at only 12 months of age. Give me great movement, dead level toplines and then top it off with gorgeous shaded blue and tan silk. |
