If you think it will help we can post him on Lulu's page she seems to have more interest out that way than in the west. Let me know |
Update: Good news, we finally got x-rays and he does NOT have hip dysplasia, it is an old pelvic fracture that has healed and will just always be that way. Also he has gained a little over a pound- we are up to 9.5(on the first he was only 8.1)! He is eating like a champ and as happy as ever! The doctor wants to keep him on cage rest for the week just to make sure he is going to make a full recovery but all looks good, he should be up for adoption next weekend! @llcornell- I think that's a great idea, spread the word at least, I would hate to see him sit at the shelter much longer |

Wow, I'm excited for Winston! Congrats ChibiLuv; hope we can get some more pics of Winston as he gains weight and becomes healthier. I'm curious... for someone like Winston who was scared and didn't eat, would you require him to meet his potential furever owners a few times first so that he'd be comfortable with them when they rescue him? |
he is really not scared- I think he had pre-pancreatitis (or something similar) and that's why he needed to be on fluids but he is the happiest friendliest little guy. He was a little weird with my Fiance, Fred, but Fred was weird with him (when Winston growled Fred he just stood there unsure what to do) when Fred acted normal Winston was fine. Winston met another man today and was totally fine with him, licking him and wagging his tail, it might be because Fred is tall and kinda has a deeper voice too, who knows- maybe Fred just freaked Winston out because he was being weird with him. Winston came to my house and fit right in right away. Through the adoption agency we don't really do 'trial runs'. Basically you just adopt them and take them home that day. I would love the future adopter to keep in touch with me though....I really have grown attached to the little guy. |
how is he? |
his weight has leveled off at 9.3 but he is doing great, the vet wanted to recheck his xrays this Friday to make sure his bones didn't move but if all looks good he could finally be up for adoption this weekend! I was so hoping he would be out f the shelter by now but I guess its better to be safe than sorry and make sure his hips look ok, I got to see his xrays from before, poor little guy, his pelvis is totally in the wrong place, but I guess as long as it doesn't hurt him he should be ok. |
Great news- recheck with the vet went great and Winston is due to be available tomorrow- here's to hoping he gets adopted quickly! :cheer: :D :cheer: |
Great news! Winston went up for adoption and quickly found a forever family. His new mommy has been without a dog for a while and immediately fell in love with Winston's happy disposition and adorable face! He will be a spoiled only dog with a back yard to play in and some older kids to run around with. I was so happy for him I almost cried! It will be a little sad because I used to see him everyday, I am glad he found a family to love him though- he deserves it! |
Awesome news for Winston! |

What great news!!!! <3 |
thanks for sharing him on lulu's page- maybe more people will check out Operation Kindness- we really do have a lot of cute yorkies come through here and a bunch of other hypoallergenic types. I am always surprised to see how many cutie pies we get....but then I am super surprised Lulu is still looking, if I were still in CA I would be grabbing her up in a heartbeat :D the grass is always greener, huh? |

I think its always surprising how many great dogs need homes. Somehow there are always more dogs than homes sadly! |
