This is actually a No Kill Shelter and they have very limited space. They are a great shelter. It could be possible that since he was a puppy that he went out on a Neuter Contract. I do know for a fact that this Shelter does not put a hold on pet's that are available.
Also, It could be that Veronica didn't work today and she was only going by the information that she knew at the time. Things change very fast in a Shelter situation.

Aw! I'm just seeing this....so sorry. I tried, they told me this morning they wouldnt put him up for adoption until after he was neutered then next thing I knew he was on the floor so I guess someone changed thier mind. He still needs to be neutered, maybe the people will change thier minds? It happens sometimes. I was hoping he would get to go to someone on YT so I could watch him grow.
Yeah it is very fast paced in the shelter, we have to try and get them out as soon as they get them in, I wish they would have told me they were putting him up today.....maybe something will still work out...sorry

I'm not mad at you, hon, I know how it is at shelters. I think it was just that I spent all day making calls and trying to figure out how to get up there...I tried very hard and ended up killing my phone so I never saw the text you sent me around noon. Today has been awful, one thing after another going wrong. I do not blame you or anyone at the shelter. I DO truly hope he found a great home! They are very, very lucky He stole my heart. I'm sure he charmed his new family already If something doesnt work out with him...you let me know! I will be there in a heartbeat.

Aw sorry you had a bad day. You know the first dog I almost got to be Chibi's companion fell through in the worst possible way and I was ready to give up, I thought the world hated me and was punishing me but then mere months later I found Molli and I know it was meant to be. Sometimes bad luck is a blessing in desguise

Awww I was praying you would get him! Maybe there is another one out there that needs you more. Keep your chin up!

Carmen,I am so very sorry. I know that you are sad. I hope that there will be another oppertunity in the future for you to find the next member of your family. I also hope that this little guy got a home as wonderful as yours would of been for him.

I am ignorant about how shelters work.....I just see here in Houston, people's dogs getting picked up, the families called, and then apparently arrangements made to pick the dog up the next day or within 48 hours, as was one case....and when the family shows up to gwet their dog, the dog has been adopted out to someone else, or even more tragic, euthanized. That happens soooooo much here here in Houston....I just wish everyone could get on the same page and the correct information given to people. Fortunately, this "One Eyed Jack" went to another family, rather than being euthanized....which is a wonderful thing for this poor little soul. The poster will get over this set back....but the disappointment is not any less for someone that had their heart set on a particular puppy. The services these places provide, is amazing....just someway to be a little more organized in the transmission of information, would be an added bonus. I guess if I was in the position to have to retrieve my own pet from a shelter, or if I wanted to adopt from a rescue, I would be on the doorstep the minute I saw that baby was there....I dont know if that would help, but it is all you have....physical presence...eye to eye contact.

Usually if I'm in 'the know' I could pull some strings especially for a home I know would be perfect but this was just the perfect storm of everything that could go wrong did. I didnt see who he ended up going to but I hope they treat him like he deserves.

I'm so sorry you lost this little one when you had your heart set on him! Things like this seem to happen at shelters a lot and they often tell diferent things depending sometimes on to whom you speak. Maybe your next little rescue candidate is going to appear very soon and this time maybe you get him - or her!

This happens all the time at my humane shelter. I'll see a new dog, but by the time I get there, he is already taken. They don't have a waiting list, you have to go in person, no holds can be placed over the phone. I have had my heart broken many times.... sorry for you losing this pup. Keep looking.

I'm so sorry it didn't work out for you. I know even at the no kill shelter i volunteered at, the little ones get adopted very quickly and a lot of times by the staff or a friend of the staff. I know the baby you are supposed to get will one day be yours.

Ah Carmen...I was reading the posts and was so excited..until I got to the one post! So sorry you didn't get this cutie! I know this doesn't help but i feelthings happen for a reason...im hoping another lost soul comes around needing a wonderful home like we know you would give!! Have you thought about searching petfinder.com??
